Giyuu is so underrated. He is the third strongest Hashira. Right after fighting Akaza with Tanjiro he was the first hashira to encounter Muzan and fought Muzan and after fighting Muzan he was the only hashira that was up and managed to hold back DKT.

It did not take him within a year. He finished the final selection around 13-14 and became a hasira from 16-18. Not only that but he had been training since he was a child. Muichiro was a hasira who picked up a sword and became a hasira in 2 months at the age of 14.

Not speed. And durability goes rengoku cuz he kept akaza at bay while he had a whole fist in his stomach. And if I’m not mistaken there was a secondary chapter specifically for rengoku and it showed rengoku tanking demon bullets that would of killed the average human.
People overrating rengoku just because he held off a punch from akaza when he was literally getting toyed with from the start. It was already near sunrise before akaza and rengoku fought, just a few minutes before. Giyuu without mark will last longer without a doubt. The last move akaza used that finished off rengoku was the same move akaza used against giyu at the EARLY STAGE of their fight not as a last resort. Giyu without mark casually defended against it while rengoku with his 9th form got punched through his stomach. Not to mention giyuu being the first hashira to face muzan after fighting with akaza in the infinity castle and one of the last two surviving till the end.

didnt rengoku dogde sanemi and could've had the chance to get him back and giyu is a little less than sanemi in reflexes and rengoku had better reflexes than sanemi so he has better reflexes than giyu and rengoku wasn't going all out against akaza because he used most of his power to protect the five cars of the train ,so if he went full power he would've had the strength to behead akaza and he would have survived.

After that, giyu still had energy to quickly yeet the kakushi out of the way to stop them getting turned into a hashtag but demon king tanjiro, like man was literally halfway dead at that point. Potential- Rengoku I guess since be trained on his own without a former pillar/pillar/highly trained swordsmen to help him, whilst giyu had urokodaki to teach him and sabito to also teach him new things. He's very over confident and ready to fight and never doubts himself, and he desperately didn't want anyone on the mugen train to, and came pretty close to holding akaza for the sun to burn him. Even tho akaza would've stomped him easily if he went all out at first, still very impressive, dubs amd kudos to McDonald's hair man. However giyu can also have lots of will power and determination, for example when sabito died, he worked very hard to become a pillar and exceed his expectations. However this still goes to dunkin donuts man. Skilled-Thsi is hard, both of them are very skilled. Giyu Tomioka did not do as well against Akaza as people claim, and you can see this in the manga. So I clearly missed the joke people share when they say that he did. And this was with help from a marked Tanjiro Kamado, who did much of the fighting himself. And he was almost at Rengoku’s level for most of the fight and temporarily surpassed his former mentor at the end. In comparison to that, I didn’t see much from the Water pillar. He didn’t at all come close to beating Upper Three, as compared to Rengoku who almost KILLED him. I know what you’re going to say next, and I’m not buying the “Akaza wasn’t trying against Rengoku” bs at all. Watch the battle again. I will explain why this argument is nothing more than an excuse to win this argument. Keep in mind that demon literally don’t feel pain or fatigue, so it isn’t fair to assume his words and smile as frivolous intent. Akaza literally stated that he would have to kill Rengoku, and after he told him to die young, he got serious, wanting to end his life before he got old. He adapted midfight when he analyzed his weak spots. As for Giyu, he easily got the better of him and nearly killed him until Tanjiro saved his ass. Akaza tried equally hard against both Hashira, and the only reason that Giyu did well, and this was for like ONE MINUTE, was because he caught Akaza off guard. He seemed impressed by this, but remember that this is nowhere’s near the level of excitement he expressed when fighting Kyojuro. And Giyu still did worse. Akaza began to try mid-fight with Rengoku, as you can observe by his increasingly skilled strikes and later on, Rengoku's declining success against him. Giyu didn't even get close to his neck like Tanjiro and Rengoku did. And I know this argument is overused, but it’s true: Rengoku did all of this ALONE. Without a demon slayer mark. Giyu had all of this, and I will repeat what nobody who disagrees mentions: Tanjiro was acutally THERE. Judging by Akaza’s love for fighting skilled people, his enjoyment when dueling Rengoku should be taken as a sign that he is finally able to test his strength against him. Also, Giyu got carried through the last battle with Muzan by all of the stronger Hashira. I cannot believe you are saying that he’s stronger than Rengoku if he can’t even KEEP HIS SWORD. No argument made there. He was not the only one affected by the poison. Every other Hashira was holding their own. Now here's some cited evidence. "The Water Hashira, huh? Excellent! It's been 50 years since I encountered one!" (Akaza, Chapter 148: Clashing). These are the EXACT WORDS directly from the manga that I have in front of me. Where exactly did this apply to Rengoku? Nowhere. He said WATER Hashira. Not just someone. I have read two versions of that scene, and they BOTH said "Water Hashira". Right after that, Giyu barely manages to dodge Akaza's techniques, and UNLIKE Rengoku, he got instantly taken out. Same scenario, same effort, and he still did worse. But you seem to have some idea that just because he dodged or blocked a different technique that Rengoku didn't it makes him automatically stronger. It doesn't matter in the least that his skillset allows him to defend against different attacks. Akaza went easy on on Giyu at first and easily took him down, but once he realized that he had the mark and that his sense weren't sharply honed AT THE MOMENT, he put in more effort. Here's what you've forgotten. He did the same thing against RENGOKU, and nobody saw it because during that battle we hardly got to see Akaza's perspective. You can't say he wasn't trying just because he didn't say it. He was excited, and expecting a fight with Kyojuro. Against Giyu, he just dismissed him until he showed that his skills returned. He was overwhelmed because Tomioka had nowhere near as much fighting spirit at the time. That's why he couldn't see him coming. It increased with his mark, and Akaza easily got the best of him for it.
Akaza adapts easily and water breathing is not for offense it's for defence like goku's mui is for defence. Even gyomei (fp) with mark can't defeat akaza and you literally said rengoku was about to defeat him🤣. Akaza wasn't even using 20% of his powers

It did not take him within a year. He finished the final selection around 13-14 and became a hasira from 16-18. Not only that but he had been training since he was a child. Muichiro was a hasira who picked up a sword and became a hasira in 2 months at the age of 14.

People overrating rengoku just because he held off a punch from akaza when he was literally getting toyed with from the start. It was already near sunrise before akaza and rengoku fought, just a few minutes before. Giyuu without mark will last longer without a doubt. The last move akaza used that finished off rengoku was the same move akaza used against giyu at the EARLY STAGE of their fight not as a last resort. Giyu without mark casually defended against it while rengoku with his 9th form got punched through his stomach. Not to mention giyuu being the first hashira to face muzan after fighting with akaza in the infinity castle and one of the last two surviving till the end.

boy… with Rengoku marked akaza would actually fight seriously since he was toying with Rengoku from the beginning and a bit a the end. If he awakened it Rengoku would still lose, not easily but still lose in matter of 10-15 min. Giyuu without the mark facing akaza serious, he managed to fought him off with Tanjiro by his side. Then when he got the mark, he’s able to go toe to toe with him, but the only reason why his 11th form wasn’t able to fend off alaa’s attack was bc he was badly injured due to akaza slamming Giyuu onto a building thing (in the infinity castle). But giyu lost a limb and kinda carried the akaza fight, since tanjiro was out cold for a good amount of time, till he went god mode and dogged on basketball head 4 a nit, he still, didn't rlly carry the fight tho. After that, giyu still had energy to quickly yeet the kakushi out of the way to stop them getting turned into a hashtag but demon king tanjiro, like man was literally halfway dead at that point. Potential- Rengoku I guess since be trained on his own without a former pillar/pillar/highly trained swordsmen to help him, whilst giyu had urokodaki to teach him and sabito to also teach him new things.
Will power-Rengoku
This one should go without saying. He's very over confident and ready to fight and never doubts himself, and he desperately didn't want anyone on the mugen train to, and came pretty close to holding akaza for the sun to burn him. Even tho akaza would've stomped him easily if he went all out at first, still very impressive, dubs amd kudos to McDonald's hair man. However giyu can also have lots of will power and determination, for example when sabito died, he worked very hard to become a pillar and exceed his expectations. However this still goes to dunkin donuts man.
Skilled-Thsi is hard, both of them are very skilled. However giyu created his own breath form which is impressive, but still I think it goes to to them both.

Giyu Tomioka did not do as well against Akaza as people claim, and you can see this in the manga. So I clearly missed the joke people share when they say that he did. And this was with help from a marked Tanjiro Kamado, who did much of the fighting himself. And he was almost at Rengoku’s level for most of the fight and temporarily surpassed his former mentor at the end. In comparison to that, I didn’t see much from the Water pillar. He didn’t at all come close to beating Upper Three, as compared to Rengoku who almost KILLED him. I know what you’re going to say next, and I’m not buying the “Akaza wasn’t trying against Rengoku” bs at all. Watch the battle again. I will explain why this argument is nothing more than an excuse to win this argument. Keep in mind that demon literally don’t feel pain or fatigue, so it isn’t fair to assume his words and smile as frivolous intent. Akaza literally stated that he would have to kill Rengoku, and after he told him to die young, he got serious, wanting to end his life before he got old. He adapted midfight when he analyzed his weak spots. As for Giyu, he easily got the better of him and nearly killed him until Tanjiro saved his ass. Akaza tried equally hard against both Hashira, and the only reason that Giyu did well, and this was for like ONE MINUTE, was because he caught Akaza off guard. He seemed impressed by this, but remember that this is nowhere’s near the level of excitement he expressed when fighting Kyojuro. And Giyu still did worse. Akaza began to try mid-fight with Rengoku, as you can observe by his increasingly skilled strikes and later on, Rengoku's declining success against him. Giyu didn't even get close to his neck like Tanjiro and Rengoku did. And I know this argument is overused, but it’s true: Rengoku did all of this ALONE. Without a demon slayer mark. Giyu had all of this, and I will repeat what nobody who disagrees mentions: Tanjiro was acutally THERE. Judging by Akaza’s love for fighting skilled people, his enjoyment when dueling Rengoku should be taken as a sign that he is finally able to test his strength against him. Also, Giyu got carried through the last battle with Muzan by all of the stronger Hashira. I cannot believe you are saying that he’s stronger than Rengoku if he can’t even KEEP HIS SWORD. No argument made there. He was not the only one affected by the poison. Every other Hashira was holding their own.
Now here's some cited evidence. "The Water Hashira, huh? Excellent! It's been 50 years since I encountered one!" (Akaza, Chapter 148: Clashing). These are the EXACT WORDS directly from the manga that I have in front of me. Where exactly did this apply to Rengoku? Nowhere. He said WATER Hashira. Not just someone. I have read two versions of that scene, and they BOTH said "Water Hashira". Right after that, Giyu barely manages to dodge Akaza's techniques, and UNLIKE Rengoku, he got instantly taken out. Same scenario, same effort, and he still did worse. But you seem to have some idea that just because he dodged or blocked a different technique that Rengoku didn't it makes him automatically stronger. It doesn't matter in the least that his skillset allows him to defend against different attacks. Akaza went easy on on Giyu at first and easily took him down, but once he realized that he had the mark and that his sense weren't sharply honed AT THE MOMENT, he put in more effort. Here's what you've forgotten. He did the same thing against RENGOKU, and nobody saw it because during that battle we hardly got to see Akaza's perspective. You can't say he wasn't trying just because he didn't say it. He was excited, and expecting a fight with Kyojuro. Against Giyu, he just dismissed him until he showed that his skills returned. He was overwhelmed because Tomioka had nowhere near as much fighting spirit at the time. That's why he couldn't see him coming. It increased with his mark, and Akaza easily got the best of him for it.

Tomioka must have had the experience because when Rengoku killed the first waning moon, Tomioka was already with the pillars, and all this is official from the manga.
If we take from all the hashira the demon slayer mark, rengoku was the strongest, he was able to take an upper rank all by himself being even tired, the problem is that he didnt have the greatest iq battle because if he did he would have fought akaza in defence and try to lose time and let the sun rise
Gyomei is the strongest even without the mark. It would be a close 2nd between rengoku and sanemi but I think just in raw strength rengoku would at least get 2nd
