“I’m trying to get a dopamine hit from the real world and not my phone.” Truer words were never spoken Catherine. I’m thrilled for the person who was getting a clean, freshly painted and wallpapered room. It made me so happy and I’m all the way across the pond in 🇨🇦.
Hi 👋 Catherine. My daughter was having the same issues as you, so she set a daily time limit for her phone usage. 10 mins with coffee in the morning. Then 10 mins every 2 hrs for rest of day. If she couldn't get stuff done in that time, she just shifted to the next time frame. She also never takes her phone to bed. She plugs it in in the kitchen overnight to charge. I'm so very proud of her it's only been two months. She falls asleep faster❤ has two new hobbies, gardening and crochet . Her house is cleaner, etc.
Hi catherine you are such a hard worker and your home is beautiful its lovely to see you on the u tube and you give great idears have you moved from your cottage its tire ing and your book what is the name of it you are so talanted we find a phone takes up a lot of your time and the tv the day goes too fast as the saying goes make haste while you can😊😂❤ we love the colours you choose❤❤

Love all the comments about books. When I was a child every summer spent at my grandmothers, there was a book mobile that came by once a week. I checked out the limit, read, and turned them in for new ones the following week. A cousin and I would climb into my grandmothers mulberry tree with an apple and read our summer away in the top of a tree with the birds above us and the horses below us. We gobbled up the entire Nancy Drew series one summer. Memories ❤
What a beautiful door!!!! People pay a fortune at salvage to get these vintage doors and locks. Please thank the homeowner for letting us take a peek into Thier lovely property. X
That wallpaper is dreamy, and from the bit you've shown us, I'm sure the homeowner will be absolutely thrilled with the transformation. Thanks for including the kitties this week! I had a good laugh watching them "help" you organize the bookshelf.
I'm in love with that green wallpaper. About the screen time--I recently realized that I'm spending THREE HOURS in every 24 on social media and UA-cam. No wonder I'm not getting anything else done!
❤ I SO love and appreciated that you addressed the Cell phone use! Countless people, including my 14 year old granddaughter, are totally consumed with needing to be on them! It is an addiction…and not easy to to break such a habit! We are losing far too much important TIME in our daily life…and it certainly doesn’t encourage good health! ❤
Yes, its so hard when the social media apps are made to be addictive to the brain, and when you start to stop using them, its like you have muscle memory and pick up the phone without thinking. After a few days it does feel great when your head feels clearer x
Your front garden is looking lovely Catherine. I enjoy the cats appearance's. They are so gorgeous and they have grown so much. Having a good clean is always satisfying. Thank you Catherine.
I don't have an app, but few years ago I joined my local library. I borrow books monthly and because I have time frames, I hold myself accountable, and when I have free time, I read the books I borrow. I also have kindle unlimited, which allows me to borrow books for free, so again plenty to read. I honestly think, reading saved my life, especially when my mum was unwell and when she passed. My brain really needed the stillness and quiet time to process the grief and heartbreak. I love a good thriller, or cheeky romance, and recently got in to herbology and learning about herbs and medicinal plants. Your furbubies are such a cute and playful pair. Look after yourself Catherine, take the time to nourish your soul and tend to your heart. I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your ideas and life with us. Sending love your way 💖
Sounds like a great routine you have ❤️😍 that’s true, the library time frame keeps you accountable! Hope you’re enjoying your latest read and thanks for stopping by xx
Hi Catherine. A big yes to too much screen time. I use to read 2, 3 books at a time, and now I'm getting myself back one book at a time. Gardening helps me to keep focused.
Color coding my bookshelves has dramatically reduced my anxiety. Its order and calmness. You are going to love it!!! We are all needing more calmness in our lives.
Catherine, I always enjoy your vlog! I must say, you are wise beyond your years! good for you to recognize and take action :) I do work full time outside of my home, so I stay pretty busy - I'm not a big social media person but I will say, when I do spend time ( too much time) I don't feel well. The same is true for television. I think we all have a word for the year, and mine is intentional. I am trying to be more intentional with my time and how I spend it. I am intentional about a slower life and being content with what I have and where I am in life. I find I have more joy with less screen time. I really do feel a sense of calm and down to earth reality from your vlog. I've been following along now for about 4 years and I am always encouraged and inspired. Thank you. p.s. tell your momma hello!
That was lovely! I struggle with iPad time but the channels I follow and my evening reading time feels healthy to me. It’s the mindless FB and Instagram scrolling. Too much noise. Definitely not healthy. Time spent in the garden or painting, decluttering, decorating - now that’s living. Especially when you add a 112 Golden Retriever to the mix. We converted part of our basement into two bedrooms. Your videos have inspired me so much. I love cozy, cottage spaces that are easy to care for. Thank you Catherine!
Thanks for this video Catherine...I understand that spacey, disconnected feeling....never thought of the phone connection....definitely going to give it a go ❤. Thanks again and have an enjoyable week !!! 😊
I also have learned to limit my screen time. It amazed me when I started to set limits for myself, how much more I accomplish. I also feel less stressed. 💕👍
Love the content with your cute fur babies Catherine! I can’t see enough of their interaction around your daily tasks, as I no longer have any more of these cuddly creatures in my life. I have so many photos of mine in funny situations and mischievous behaviour like yours too. I also think there is nothing as calming as a cat for a pet. They are usually so affectionate and love nothing more than to be with their owners - especially when you don’t want them walking over or thinking your project is time to play?!😂😂🐈⬛❤️
haha, the struggle is real. Also, we have no local cat groomers here, its all dog groomers. The vet offers to trim nails etc but they associate the vet with stress, we need more kitty spas
Oh my gosh!!! This was such perfect timing! I have been feeling like you for awhile now. I have wondered why. And I'm getting tired of the noise in my ears. Things that interested me are becoming boring. Your sweet gental voice is such a relief. You hit the nail on the head for me. I will probably still have to scroll. I'm not tech savvy. But I will be very selective of what I watch. And go at it all day long. So glad you brought that up. Blessings sweet lady! 😊
Im glad it was helpful, and you are not alone, a lot of us are feeling the same way, and sadly the makers of these apps have made them to be addictive. x
Hi Catherine, you made me laugh when you said about washing your cats bum. I used to have two chinchilla cats and I’ve washed more cat bums than I care to mention. 😂❤
I agree with you on social media, I also get the same feelings if I’m scrolling around too much and start feeling a little bit depressed. It definitely helps to minimize and going for walks or learning a new craft or reading., it makes me feel better about myself and I feel happier. Love the green wallpaper ❤
I deal with anxiety as well. I am studying psychology and everything you have said in this video is spot on to what I am learning. I work at a local high school and the kids' phones literally are like an extension of their hand. I no longer watch the news, rarely scroll through social media, and spend most of my evenings with Bob Ross videos playing in the background. Little changes can certainly make big changes in our overall mental health. 💜
I totally get what you're saying about social media! When the pandemic hit here I noticed many really upsetting posts and I realized I didn't want to be a part of social media anymore so I did away with my Facebook and I have not missed it since! I'm much happier without it!
I completely understand where you're coming from. It's important to prioritize our well-being and mental health, especially when it comes to social media. It sounds like removing Facebook was a positive decision for you, and I'm glad to hear you're feeling happier without it. Sometimes stepping back can bring more peace and clarity. Wishing you continued happiness and peace! Take care, Catherine
I live in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. Your reference to using clothes lines hit home. When I was growing up in Ontario our clothes lines were always full, but here it is illegal to use a clothes line within the city limits. I love how you are transforming your cottage.
I had a long hair cat once years ago. My advice is to get both of your cats use to shaving their paw pads. Especially the long haired one. It helps prevent litter from spreading around your home. Cuts down on cleaning and germs! Love your channel ❤️!
Loving the wallpaper Catherine I didn’t realize you could get mock beadboard. The cats are so adorable, love the way they always try and help 😆have a great weekend ❤
This was another really lovely video. The new wallpaper looks beautiful and I would add to other viewers comments thanking the owner for letting us see the DIY on their room. There is nothing so satisfying as a ‘before and after’ view bringing new life into a room or space. Everyone has a space that needs a refresh every few years (including me) and I wished I was as efficient at it as you are Catherine. After many years of being a DIY’er, I would rather instruct someone to complete my ideas now! You make it look so easy but I can appreciate all the effort needed for your redecorating. 👌💖💖
Hi Catherine great enjoyable video.I find social media in general stresses me out so many nasty people and remarks.I try not to use my phone in the day time but find I use more in evening thanx for being you lovely lady.Suexx
Oh my goodness, you are so lucky that your window bars are between your panes. We have a very large house and all of the windows have the small panes and are so fiddly to keep clean. We also have multiple set of 10 pane French doors inside. I recently caved in and paid someone to clean them all inside and out and it took them 1/4 of the time (or less) that it would have taken us. Speaking of books, your beautiful signed book is still beside my bed, but I have not had time to read it yet. Work has been so busy (we own 2 businesses) as we are coming up to the end of the financial year here in Australia so I need to have all of the bookkeeping up to date by the end of June. I am going to reward myself with a relaxing weekend soon with a long soak in the bath, reading some books and magazines and enjoying some of my favourite treats.
Oh noo I feel for you and all those window panes! That must be such a dreadful task to do each time! 🥲 good luck with the end of the financial year and wrapping up your books! Definitely a relaxing bath and chill time is on the cards for you soon ❤️ hope you enjoy the book! ❤️
can't wait to see the finale of the home that you showed in the beginning of the video! everyone is entitled to their privacy, and even tho you are an influencer, we respect that you have to respect their wishes! I am glad that you recognize that social media or just being on our phones constantly is mind numbing! I have been trying to limit the amount of time that I play on my phone! I have been wanting to read more, so I went back to our library and checked out some books, it feels good to just sit and lose yourself in another world! thanks so much for sharing! xoxo
Another fab video, you are so open and honest , which is so refreshing. I don't know where you get your energy from, you never seem to stop doing something. I did love the green wallpaper, so calming and beautiful. I do hope we get a little view of the finished job. Take care, I hope your mum is doing well. Xx
Gosh, I’m glad I’m not the only one who needs a social media time limit. I joined the racquet club to start tennis again and to use the pool for exercising. Loved to days video, I can’t believe it’s been a year since the living room update. ❤ It’s stunning and looks so polished. ❤
Thank you for the slow moving shot of your books. It's like having a look into someone's medicine cabinet or whatever people snoop through. I am on the hunt for the entire Monty Don collection along with all the gardening books I can get my hands on. ❤
I had to laugh when you mentioned the good drying weather. I live in N Ireland and I was one of those people earlier this week with a clothes line full because of the good drying 😊. I don't have a drier either so good drying weather makes me wash everything in site. Lovely video. Wallpaper and painting come so easy to you. I need to do some but needing some motivation. Thank you.
I did my kitchen in bead board wallpaper, it's been lovely and so much easier then real board. I am sure your friend will be pleased with your choice of paper. Have a good week
I've literally just done my sofa covers! Great drying days 😊 Re windows: I clean the living room ones everyday as my dog & cat use it to view our street, so wet noses and paw prints everyday. The sage wallpaper you used at the beginning is very similar to the one I have in my bedroom, it's very calming 😊
Lovely relaxing video, much needed. Your voice is very calming. Loved the sage wallpaper. Colour blocked books, sounds like a plan I might try 🤔. I too have started reading books again, I thoroughly enjoy choosing a new book to read. Books have a special feel about them, hard to explain but I think everyone will understand 💖
I love your style. Your choice of wallpaper is so beautiful. Very nice home. Your home is amazing and beautiful. It is very calming and homey. Your kitties are adorable and always fun.
I’ve had my eye on that same wallpaper for a while now - ❤ it so much. Can’t wait for the reveal (hope you can) Maybe it will be the push I need to go ahead & purchase it.
Hi Catherine, loving the kitty content! Always want more 🐈🐈⬛ 😻. The weather is strange this year🤔 very hit and miss but I do not have a dryer either, no room! 1930’s house, tiny kitchen diner. But if there is a good drying day, everything and anything will get washed to freshen up, throws, cushion covers and winter puffa coat’s, nothing is safe! Suze 🤗
Hi Catherine. I agree about the phone. It can take over. I always leave mine in another room. That helps. By the way I find that an easy way to tell if paint is water based or not is to just read how to clean the brushes on the tim. If it says clean with white spirit or special cleaner it's oil based and if it says clean with water it's water based.
I love the wallpaper you selected for the living room project! I bet the homeowner will be amazed at what some paint and paper can do to a room! Thank you for the tip about using advice from paint/paper specialists. My daughter is a paint specialist for a large paint company, and did I seek her advice when repainting my exterior door? Well, no I didn’t. I didn’t use the correct primer nor paint. Now it looks like a peeling, bubbled alligator skin!😳🤦🏻♀️ She’s like, “Mom…all you had to do was ask.” Subscribers, listen to Catherine! If you don’t do it right the first time, what makes you think that you have time to redo it??? Love the videos of the dynamic duo!🥰🐈⬛🐈
Loved how you did your books. Trying too reach for my books instead of my phone. Especially since I love to buy books. Thank you for always inspiring us
The babies are so big, only a year old wowser. Yep thats a good point on social media. I’m the days I consume less I def notice the difference in my calmness and relaxed chilled vibes. I need to restrict my use even more 😊❤ great video
This video is perfect timing. I have always been a reader, and when I was dusting my bookcase the other day, I couldn’t remember the last time I actually read a book, and realised it was before I got an I pad! We’re talking YEARS! I was horrified and quite sad. My anxiety isn’t good either lately, so I’m going to follow your lead and give myself a break from scrolling (till 3am) 😱 I laughed when you said you shaved your cats bum 😂 laughter is the best medicine 🤗🥰 (hope you’re mum is doing ok) ❤️
I agree with your comments, I enjoy sitting down and watching some utube videos, including yours,,, but I do spend too much time in between my jobs, sitting down and looking at Facebook.
Hi Catherine, I always try to put my washing on the line, it’s free drying and smells better. Aww Beag & Bán are getting so big, lovely to see them. The things we do for our pet’s 💜
Love that wallpaper! Trying to imagine where I can put some lol. Love that the kittens are helping you with the book shelf. Sending prayers and blessings.
Have you seen those grooming gloves? I have one, you stroke your cat & it grooms them at the same time. I got them for the rabbits, but its great for my fluffy cat too, he would shred me if I tried to use a normal brush! The cats playing was adorable 😍
Alkyd, enamel, latex can all be very confusing. I look at the clean up instructions if I am not sure if it's oil or water based paint. I groom my cats daily with a slicker, Kong and comb, and still I am covered in fur! Love my babies :) Love to you and prayers for your mom.

This is so good, what a stunning space 😊😊
Thank you!! 😊
can't wait to see the finale of the home that you showed in the beginning of the video! everyone is entitled to their privacy, and even tho you are an influencer, we respect that you have to respect their wishes! I am glad that you recognize that social media or just being on our phones constantly is mind numbing! I have been trying to limit the amount of time that I play on my phone! I have been wanting to read more, so I went back to our library and checked out some books, it feels good to just sit and lose yourself in another world! thanks so much for sharing! xoxo
Ooh brilliant that you got some new books! Enjoy ❤️🩷 thanks for stopping by xx
I love a good calm and relaxed video so thank you! Also love the wallpaper! It is so you 💕
Aw I’m glad to hear that ❤️ thanks for stopping by xx
Hi Catherine the green wallpaper is gorgeous love the cats always up to mischief, hope your mum is on the mend ❤😊
Another fab video, you are so open and honest , which is so refreshing.
I don't know where you get your energy from, you never seem to stop doing something. I did love the green wallpaper, so calming and beautiful. I do hope we get a little view of the finished job.
Take care, I hope your mum is doing well. Xx
I try and find the balance behind the camera so there’s chill time in there too ❤️ it’s important to have the balance!
It’s good to take a break from your phone screen from time to time!! ❤ all you do ❤🌸🌼🌹😍
It’s so important ❤️
I've said this before; I could pack my clothes and yarn and move in because your house feels like home!🤗🥰
I love that your cat is supervising your window cleaning.. “meow you missed a spot” 😂
haha, very critical supervisors x
The wallpaper…it’s everything.
Thank you.
Can’t waste the sunny day and not do a wash 😂😂
I did my kitchen in bead board wallpaper, it's been lovely and so much easier then real board. I am sure your friend will be pleased with your choice of paper. Have a good week
That sounds lovely Denise 😍😍
I've just decorated my hallway in the same wallpaper 😍
That paper is adorable! X
*note, I do not clean the rest of the windows in my house often at all 😄
Aww the joys of pets 😂😂
Lovely relaxing video, much needed. Your voice is very calming. Loved the sage wallpaper. Colour blocked books, sounds like a plan I might try 🤔. I too have started reading books again, I thoroughly enjoy choosing a new book to read. Books have a special feel about them, hard to explain but I think everyone will understand 💖
I love your style. Your choice of wallpaper is so beautiful. Very nice home. Your home is amazing and beautiful. It is very calming and homey. Your kitties are adorable and always fun.
🙋♀️❤️. Bridgerton! You would be so cute in that production!
haha, I would sign up if I got to marry one of the Bridgerton boys lol
You're just as much of a busy bee as your honey bees! Love.your videos, especially the ones w/the kittens❤❤❤
I’ve had my eye on that same wallpaper for a while now -
❤ it so much. Can’t wait for the reveal (hope you can)
Maybe it will be the push I need to go ahead & purchase it.
Suze 🤗
That’s the perks of those sunny days and you can just put everything outside 😍
How has it already been a year since your living room makeover?! I know we always say it, but time really does fly! Wow. 😳
I chose that same wall paper for my bathroom just the other day. Love it.
Listen, we all make them mistakes, and you are not alone! x
Cant believe its already a year ago that you have fixed up the look of the living room😮. It still looks stunning❤❤
Thank you!! 😊
Loved how you did your books. Trying too reach for my books instead of my phone. Especially since I love to buy books. Thank you for always inspiring us
Oh, I'm really curious about your books. You could make a video maybe about your book collection! It would be so much fun ❤
I am a non fiction girlie, I think in the whole mini library I have one fiction lol x
I love your black/white dress…but I do love all of your clothing styles! ❤
The babies are so big, only a year old wowser. Yep thats a good point on social media. I’m the days I consume less I def notice the difference in my calmness and relaxed chilled vibes. I need to restrict my use even more 😊❤ great video
You are just amazing at what you do. A DIY Guru without any doubt. 😍
Wow, thank you!
Que hermoso esta quedando este espacio 😊🎉
This video is perfect timing. I have always been a reader, and when I was dusting my bookcase the other day, I couldn’t remember the last time I actually read a book, and realised it was before I got an I pad! We’re talking YEARS! I was horrified and quite sad. My anxiety isn’t good either lately, so I’m going to follow your lead and give myself a break from scrolling (till 3am) 😱 I laughed when you said you shaved your cats bum 😂 laughter is the best medicine 🤗🥰 (hope you’re mum is doing ok) ❤️
Don’t be so hard on yourself it’s a struggle all around and we’re all in the same boat! Take the break and enjoy the calmness ❤️❤️
@@DaintyDiaries ..thank you for that, I really appreciate it 🤗😘
I love even more floral wall papers! 💜
I agree with your comments, I enjoy sitting down and watching some utube videos, including yours,,, but I do spend too much time in between my jobs, sitting down and looking at Facebook.
I have just used the beadboard paper from B&Q. It was very good and easy to work with x
Well done sweetie, it's all lovely and educational 🎉❤
Thank you 🤗
Hi Catherine, I always try to put my washing on the line, it’s free drying and smells better. Aww Beag & Bán are getting so big, lovely to see them. The things we do for our pet’s 💜
Loved Woody's when we lived in Tralee, hope you're well and your mother is doing ok Catherine ❤
Love that wallpaper! Trying to imagine where I can put some lol. Love that the kittens are helping you with the book shelf. Sending prayers and blessings.
They’re my number one helpers 😂❤️ thanks so much for stopping by xx
Have you seen those grooming gloves? I have one, you stroke your cat & it grooms them at the same time. I got them for the rabbits, but its great for my fluffy cat too, he would shred me if I tried to use a normal brush!
The cats playing was adorable 😍
Alkyd, enamel, latex can all be very confusing. I look at the clean up instructions if I am not sure if it's oil or water based paint.
I groom my cats daily with a slicker, Kong and comb, and still I am covered in fur! Love my babies :)
Love to you and prayers for your mom.
