    Just blind bought Sandalwood from Trumpers because you two are always talking about it and WOW!!! That is an incredible fragrance for how much it costs. I paid around $40(£31-32) and it is so complex and mesmerizing.

    I have been scouring UA-cam for reviews of Santal by Floris, after I tried a sample. There aren’t many. Then, by accident, I find a good review here. It makes me feel a lot better about my purchase. Thanks.

      I love it too and purchased a well priced sample pack of Floris containing Santal, JF, No. 89 and Elite all 15ml spray bottles.
      It is thanks to Joe and Dan for bringing the house to my attention and I really trust their noses. I have also purchased the stunning Honey Oud and Bergamotto Di Positano from Floris.
      I will be trying out Geo. F Trumper's colognes next 👍

    Many of these houses were quite new to me so I appreciate the effort you have made to bring them together and outline their qualities. I have Foris Honey Oud which is an absolute masterclass in gentleman's fragrance blending. I feel like I have to dress up to wear it. I also have Lush (Gorilla Fragrance) Cardamon Coffee. This stuff is unapologetically bonkers. For the first half hour after spraying its complete anarchy with the two principle notes in a flat out fist fight. Later, the coffee dies back and the Cardamon and spices take to centre stage as this juice moves to more of a body scent and it becomes lovely. Like a spicy, festive Christmas with mulled wine and mince pies.

    Totally agree about Trumper's Sandalwood Cologne, an all-time great fragrance. But chaps, Breath of God??? Really? I couldn't wash it off quickly enough! I would have to shout out to Cech & Speak No.88 EdT as opposed to the EdP. One of the greatest gentleman's fragrances of all time IMO.

    I just discovered your channel the other day and enjoy your reviews! I was a signature scent type of guy until last fall. I'm learning and reviewing fragrances like you do is very helpful. I opted to start with the classics and really like history and fragrances from the House of Guerlain, however I realize that I'm late to the party. Therefore, I'm trying to learn as much as I can about how to find vintage fragrances. Also, I'm learning that, as you indicated in this review, the niche houses are where we find perfumers who are not driven solely by profit. Thank you for your reviews! I'll be sure to sample fragrances from the houses you featured in this and other reviews.

    Tried Lush on your superb video recommendation and I couldn’t get a feel for breath of god but maybe I should have given it longer. While I was in the shop though I tried Rentless and it’s a really classy fragrance. It’s patchouli based and is quite sweet but not your normal sickly sweet smell, there’s a slight boozy quality which I love. You guys should try Tank Battle. Very very challenging fragrance which I’d be interested to get your thoughts on if you do anything on Lush again. Based on the inside of a water tank and your first impression is it’s too much but after 10 to 20 mins it settles and it’s challenging but in a good way. Not describing it too well but give it try people

    • @WaftsfromTheLoft
      @WaftsfromTheLoft  4 роки тому

      It's completely different in terms of smell, but I suppose it could be worn for similar occasions. In simple terms, Santal is slightly brighter, and more summery.

    James Bond did not wear a Eucris fragrance. In one s ene there was a bottle of a Eucris HAIR CARE product next to the sink. Nor did Bond wear Floris No. 89, although his creator, Ian Flemming certainly did. In fact, James Bond didn't wear any fragrance in any of the novels nor any of the movies.

    • @CroElectroStile
      @CroElectroStile 5 років тому +1

      @@WaftsfromTheLoft Yeah maybe a better question was Floris Santal or Sandalwood, is the diffence big or is it just in freshness, Santal being a fresh option of Sandalwood and Geo f Trumpers creamier

    • @WaftsfromTheLoft
      @WaftsfromTheLoft  5 років тому +1

      They are also very different (though closer than BOG). The Floris is, as you suggest, fresher, the grass quality combines with cardamom and clove for something quite uplifting. I tend to think of it as a warm weather fragrance. The Trumper is more potent, and the sandalwood in it much more dominant; thick and creamy.

      @@WaftsfromTheLoft Thank you for replying, love watching your vids! I have just one more question, when you would pick one, Caron third man or Floris Santal, as a better fragrance overall, in your opinion. Thanks, you have a new fan from Croatia! Peace

      @@CroElectroStile The Floris feels a 'little' more modern, whereas 3eme homme is a little more classic. But, you can pick the Caron up for quite a bit cheaper. Personally, I would pick the Caron.

    Great video, as always. You guys are certainly a refined and knowledgeable duo! I have a huge soft spot for both 4160 Tuesdays and Papillon artisan Perfumes. LucidScents thanks! I think I still prefer tobacco Rose to Anubis, and possibly Salome, although I do find it hard to find occasion to wear the latter! We did miss some out, Penhaligon’s being the other obvious one. We thought the video would be long enough as it is and, all things considered, these are the houses we most wanted to include.
