I've been collecting 3DS games since I got my first 3DS in 2011 as a kid, picked up games as they came out and one of each 3DS variation. When the eShop was announced to being closed next year I had a collection of around 60 games, zero shovelware. From that point I made sure to buy up any game I ever wanted, within my price range, and now I'm closer to 90 games. Basically have everything I really want. Thankfully.
Why get an IPS when you can just hope that somebody get makes her replacement IPS screen and then just install it yourself if you happen to know how to
I play my 3ds almost everyday with the exception of 1 year I took I break from it when I first got the switch. I've had every model of NDS, upgrading everytime a new model came out. I managed to secure a 2nd N3DSXL but it cost more. So frustrated with the price increase
N3DSXLs with dual IPS screens are the ultimate collector variant, and they tend to be sprinkled in with various N3DSXL special editions - so they're a rare subset within already rare subsets.
Got mine today as a graduation gift for myself (college left me no time for gaming) I paid a bit more for good condition new 2DS Pokeball edition but it seems like the market is cooling down RN. Saw a lot of price cuts when I was looking lot of people offering reduced prices on systems in my DMs.
One game I’ve seen increase quite a bit recently is SMTIV Apocalypse. I got mine a couple months ago brand new with the collector pins for ~70 and now new copies are going for at least 120. Crazy.
One game I saw spike was Mario Golf World tour it went from around $20-30 to $60-$100. It shocked me because although it's a good game there really isn't a big nostalgia wave for it yet
I think the Switch golf game gave it a boost combined with the eshop sunsetting. Some of the golf games have RPG elements but this one doesn't look like it
here to say the prices are still INSANE. glad my older brother is huge into nintendo, and made sure to keep my 3ds xl safe until i wanted it back last year to mod it. he rlly just wanted a link between worlds for free since i have the gold one lol. I play it every day now. I would be devastated to have to buy a new one!
I agree with your take that prices are likely to go down from current levels. It doesn’t take a lot of incremental demand to drive Ebay prices materially higher. The awareness of the Eshop closure will dampen over time and FOMO eventually goes away when people realize copies are still available. Agreed not back to pre pandemic but please don’t pay nosebleed prices.
I definitely also agree that the mainstream Nintendo games will go down in price, Mario, Zelda etc. but I definitely imagine that the ‘sleeper hits’ will hold their value.
One game that's a hidden gem on the 3ds is Sushi Striker plays fantastic and utilizing the dual screens. This game was ported to the Switch but doesn't play well on the single display. You can pick this game up complete for around $15.
Great video. I'm not sure how many of your viewers are from EU but I'd love to see the prices for the pal games, since then tend to be different. I'm one of those few EU viewers.

Thankfully I bought an unmodified US edition back in 2016 but I’m guessing it will be super rare to find one (in my country) in the near future.

Buddy, have you actually seen any gameplay of Cave Story 3D because I think you assume that the 3D in the title means that it’s just to view the images in 3D but in fact, the game has been remade entirely in 3D. The character models, backgrounds, pretty much the entire game was remade from the ground up. That’s what makes the 3DS version of the game unique it’s the only one. Unfortunately, it was never released on the eshop and only got a few copies physically released. The game you were talking about on the switch is Cave Story + which is the enhanced version of the original game that uses pixel art.
I played most of the 3ds games via a sky3ds cart. There are 3ds clones on the market, if you don't want to pay the outrageous 3ds prices. Who knew prices would go beyond msrp.
Made some very clutch eshop purchases before it shut down. The sales that were going on had to be as good as steam summer sales (shantae & the pirates curse for 10 bucks, you serious?). That said, there’s still quite a lot more games to pick up for me, and while there’s a few solid titles (both physical and digital) in my library, it can only go up from here.
I'm sitting on my 3ds collection which took well over ten years to gather. I have over 60 boxed titles and 3 separate models. The price of them two years ago was a steal and looking at the prices now I'm on to a gold mine if I wanted to sell. Not really sure if I will though. Most of the collection I've got I still play.
I love the OG 3DS and bought a brand new one back in February as a bday present to myself. For the retail price at it's time. Modded that baby and now I'm in heaven! Honestly hated the XL, it stretches the picture while maintaining the OG 3DS resolution which makes games look less clean and more pixelated.
I just bought a 3ds LL for 156$. Came with a few scratches and a defect with the camera but for the games I got with the 3ds LL it was a steal. On average it seems for a “new” 3ds XL it’s about 280-300$ it’s a shame really. I had no idea these things would cost so much more money now :/
Yes I been reselling 3dsxl systems over the past year. These people are selling them now used for almost 350 in the past 6 months. Yeah I am good I can’t profit off that.
This is a system I kept putting off getting, and kinda regret it now. I’m a physical collector first, but hopefully there is a way to play these games on the 3ds with an sd card or flash drive in the same vein you would use an Everdrive or ODE on a disk based console. I would be happy with just getting a New 3ds XL CIB at this point and going that route for the games, that’s what I have done with the Saturn and it has been great.
I Saw A Copy Of Shantae And The Pirates Curse At Toys R Us A Few Weeks Before It Closed Down But I Did Not Think It Would Become Super Valuable So I Left It😅
I feel like the 3ds is going to end up like the Sega Saturn at the end of the day. Prices will be outrageous in the future. Surprised you did not cover the Layton games and some of the heavy-hitting Yo Kai games.
I included Yo-Kai 3 and Layton vs Phoenix. These videos take a while to make and I would rather spin a separate video on the series than include multiple games in the same series in the video.
@@SuperNicktendo That’s fair and I did notice those, was just curious why you chose those over the more expensive ones. But I’d definitely watch a video on the various games in the series and whether we should buy or wait.
@@Miji43 yeah I try to include a variety of games. If they were all expensive games the answer would be the same and video would be boring imo. I've done a dedicated video about Castlevania, silent hill and Metroid. Seems to be a bit more fun for people when I go that route.
Good thing I bought my physical copy of Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater a couple of years ago for $40. 😶 You know them prices ain't ever coming down no matter how much time passes. There will never be a time where no one cares about the DS/3DS line simply because of the unique gameplay experiences they provide with the dual screens including the touch screen. Sure you could just emulate DS/3DS games on your phone/tablet/pc but it's arguably going to be an inferior experience especially when you need to use the touch screen.
I sold my new 3ds xl before the pandemic for £165.00, if only I waited I could of got more money for it. I'm not going to make the same mistake with my switch collection.
There is no way down for the prices on 3DS, the system is indeed special, with the 2 screens, pen and amazing library of games. Moreover Nintendo isn’t going back to the 2-screen concept again after the Switch. New 3DS/2DS XL is actually a better handheld console than the switch in my opinion
I have been interested in buying a 2DS for some time just because of how different it is to other 3DS systems, but I'm not too sure if I should really buy one.
2ds size was more comfy for hubs larger hands but it gets a little top heavy for my smaller less muscular fingers to hold after extended use. It shines in its durability with our adhd butterfinger young child. That things been dropped countless times and still works, even the triggers and card slot.
Its wild how pre pandemic I was finding new 3ds xl in really good like new conditions for $100 and less on facebook market all the time and sometimes buying them to mod and flip for like 150 and now im just like damn I coulda hoarded them and flipped them now lol
I also have been collecting 3ds since 2011 but I still don’t consider it complete. It will be harder then ever, but I do have a ton of the first party releases
I've been playing 3DS games on my steam deck, with three times resolution upgrade (720p) at 60fps in full screen mode with the abily to swap screens, and incant go back to the native res on the old 3ds , SteamDeck does what Nintendont 😅
I was able to collect 60 3ds games in the last year and a half just by being patient and not giving in to fomo. Never paid more than 50 cad for a used game and I have some pretty pricy ones. Only missing a few etrian odyssey, kid icarus and radiant historia, those ones sell out fast when a good deal shows up. Would have loved to get the professor layton games but Nintendo fans are crazy.
The prices are gonna keep rising because Nintendo will do a terrible job porting them into the switch if they decide to go that route and plus it cannot beat the portability of the 3DS. I think after about 2-3 years, these games will double seeing how popular and high demand they are. I already sold all my duplicates for 2.5 times what I bought em for and I kinda regret now because I wanna see if my prediction holds true. Regardless I don’t see a general price drop
Lol dragon quest 7 should skyrocket as there is no mobile version. Glad 8 had someone hack (not sensitive iOS) to improve framerates, skill resets (yay grim reaper owning metal slime groups), and plenty more. If you need a system, don't forget the 2ds. Late games like mario and luigi superstar saga removed the 3d anyway. 4:45 good idea comparing prices to modern systems.

I played most of the 3ds games via a sky3ds cart. There are 3ds clones on the market, if you don't want to pay the outrageous 3ds prices. Who knew prices would go beyond msrp.
Professor layton vs. Phoenix wright is the only one that haunts me. But I'm thankful I have all the other games I want.
Rhythm Thief on eshop was only $20. Snagged that right up.
I picked up 4 Phoenix Wright games for 12 bucks, absolute steal. 6 if you count ace attorney trilogy as 3 games.
Monster Hunter games were 3 bucks this sale and last year's sale had the pokemon virtual console games half off at 5.
So the nightmare begins... thanks for covering this
Glad I got Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon for $35 CAD a few days ago. The prices will probably soar eventually
I Saw A Copy Of Shantae And The Pirates Curse At Toys R Us A Few Weeks Before It Closed Down
But I Did Not Think It Would Become Super Valuable So I Left It😅
I feel like the 3ds is going to end up like the Sega Saturn at the end of the day.
You know them prices ain't ever coming down no matter how much time passes.
It's the same for every Nintendo console and handheld: buy the hardware, pirate the software.
I sold my new 3ds xl before the pandemic for £165.00, if only I waited I could of got more money for it. I'm not going to make the same mistake with my switch collection.
Metal gear solid 3d will drop when metal gear solid 3 delta gets released for ps5.
Good stuff man looking for the next 😊😊😊😊
Dude dragon ball fusions it’s a rare gem that you could get for less than 35$ and now that shit is 80+
There is no way down for the prices on 3DS, the system is indeed special, with the 2 screens, pen and amazing library of games. Moreover Nintendo isn’t going back to the 2-screen concept again after the Switch.
New 3DS/2DS XL is actually a better handheld console than the switch in my opinion
Yeah a lot of games will be locked until someone creates an emulation device with dual screens to re-create the system
That things been dropped countless times and still works, even the triggers and card slot.
my adult friends have them and they say they're very comfortable to hold.
@@SuperNicktendo would you say 80 bucks for a used one is a god deal?
@@Hakeem9495 for a regular 2DS in this market - seems apt. If the condition is good I say go for it
Its wild how pre pandemic I was finding new 3ds xl in really good like new conditions for $100 and less on facebook market all the time and sometimes buying them to mod and flip for like 150 and now im just like damn I coulda hoarded them and flipped them now lol
Yeah they got wild in the last year or so
Great video
Thanks!
When you look for advice and he says buy now or wait
He just means that it’s up to you whether to wait to buy or not.
Mario and luigi bowsers inside story is listed for $125 now lol.
The prices only increase in the US
Yeah I gotta carry my switch in a backpack. 3DS just throw it in your pocket.
we'll have to see how popular 3DS is during that time. I think they'll lull in the next year or so then spike after the system turns 20.
Bit of information as far as I know there are no counterfeit games for 3ds. Mostly have to be aware of resealed items and which region they are from.
I bought a refurbed 2ds for $99 before Nintendo got rid of them for good. I have special editions that are too expensive to play with :/
@SuperNicktendo yeah the 2ds with mario kart 7 was a cool bundle. You got a point about accessing value
About half of the games shown will probably continue to increase or go down a bit since distributors still have hundreds of copy at least
Good thing the louvre is on my homebrew
Come back 6 months later to see the price.
Yeah I plan on doing a follow up. It'll be interesting
The 3DS is dead the Steam Deck is the best handheld now nothing beats PC handheld finally you don’t need to be stuck on a laptop or desktop to play your Steam games
once the steam deck has 3D and 2 screens then we'll consider the 3DS dead 😎
@@SuperNicktendo I didn’t know 3D is now the best first cake HD then 3D now everyone is looking for 4K later 8K
@@bryancook6345 I think hdr and high refresh rates will be the big get before 8k. Got an LG G1 and boy I cou use that for another 10 years before needing to upgrade.
@@SuperNicktendo 8K is the best now just like Nintendo Switch in now the best Nintendo console just like PS5 is the best PlayStation console xbox series X is the best Xbox console the 4090 is the best graphics card that has true 8K if you own the 8K TV that is on PC resident evil 4 remake looks amazing in 8K 3D is dead I would never wish to go back to the past
@@bryancook6345 I'm an old man. I love 3D. Big VR guy
Why no Kirby extra epic yarn? I know that one is a pretty penny too lol
I try to fit them all in but the videos take a bit to create so I have to limit myself. If I did this full time I'd probably put 40 games instead of 25
All Zelda games except for Tri Force Heroes have a world edition. Go for those if you wish to save some cash.
Oof Tri Force Heroes :/ only played the demo.
And thankfully Tri Force Heroes is still cheap enough to where getting a sealed copy is realistic.
Good grief... I have 9 New 3DS' because of myself and kids... I'm highly debating on selling these now... 👁👄👁
Luckily, I have no problem with piracy. Gonna wait for the emulators and ROM dumps to catch up.
How did Spirit Camera work as a download game? It has that physical AR picture book that is essential to being able to even play the game.
To the moon boys!! 🚀
Just saw Sealed Guide louvre English going for - $2,500
Your vid aint helping with the FOMO guys. Here you are complaining about high prices which in turn will make anyone watching this vid to go OMG!!! I NEED TO BUY ONE NOW.
Should I sell my collection now?
Only if you want to.
If you're going to sell, now or in the near future would be the best time, while everyone is panic buying. Once this is over, they should drop down to a mid level price between their old price and the current price.
@@SuperNicktendo what’s your opinion on selling Pokémon? I have all of the ds/3ds ones. Wait or sell now?
@@DrSwoose the panic I can see helping the prices for sure, it’s just the wondering if they could stay up even more. What’s your opinion on selling my Pokémon games?
@why.try.grande8109 those are the only ones I would wait on, they sell best whenever the next generation gets introduced.
guys dont play into these greedy aftermarket prices, just buy a japanese 3ds and mod it for the US, then you get any game you want for free
3ds XL for $400?! Don’t be ridiculous! I would gladly sell my 3ds XL if anyone wants to pay me $400.
I paid $200 for Pokémon black 2
I got all the CIAs I need so idc . Let the prices skyrocket to the Mars and further beyond. Let these ppl sit on the games .
Too bad I won’t buy Nintendo, dragon quest 8 is just about goat on jrpgs
I panic bought DQ7&8 in the eshop as well as animal crossing new leaf since I had money left over just to mod my switch and get all of them and then some
nintendo domination full domination deepens down 😂
i gotta buy the good ones now lol
