    This guitar lesson is for a solo acoustic version of "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. For this classic song, I'll show you how to play all of the recognizable riffs and fills you hear during the song: including during the intro, verses, and choruses. I'll also show you how to play the chords used during the entire song, including strumming patterns (both simple and complex).
    My aim with this lesson is to give you the core building blocks you'll need to take this song to advanced places, should you wish. I won't cover the solo or 100% note-for-note tab recreations of what each guitar plays during the song, as that's a huge effort and others have done that in many cases.

    So I am a self taught guitar player and I've had my fair share of hours on the youtubes searching for decent tutorials but this is by far the best structured video with the best instructor. Gave the preview and didn't mess around with too much dialogue but also gave alternate ways to play for different skill sets. I subscribed and will most likely spend the next couple of hours watching your other vids. Keep it up.

    I am discovering guitar at age 52 after growing up on and still listening to guitar “greats” like Trent Reznor Martin L Gore and Section 25 and EDM.
    Lynyrd Skynyrd ELO Beatles and the Eagles were the background music of my childhood and going to the races and fishing with my dad I never really gave them much thought.
    Now I am discovering “classic rock” as I try to learn guitar and even learning to appreciate the music as I add this genre to my playlist and aspirational list of songs I would love to play someday.
    This is all to say thank you for this awesome lesson one of the best of any beginner song I have looked at so far.
    Who knew deciding to play around with Serato DJing for my headphones a few years ago would lead me to Ed King and now your channel.

    This guitarist dude is good in his structure of songs. And the thingy i like most about ... He talks less, and when does talk its more towards the structure or chords of the songs. Am self taught and this guitarist speaks clear with LESS accent making learning more productive. Always wanted to learn this classic 70's song and the "TEACHER" has helped my playing of this song while I build on my ability to play. Thank you kind . sir
    Love from Malaysia

    I've been playing since age 10. I've taken breaks but always return to best friend (along with my dogs). You have refined the songs I learned all alone by the radio as a kid on my old beater. What a revelation it has been. Joyful! I am a 30 year high school computer teacher and I want you to know how incredible of a teacher you are. So much respect for you in every way. I hope you receive the support you need to continue. Never underestimate your value in this often dark world. Music is ultimate gift to humanity. Rock on. Forever, your student, Mrs. B.

  • @davehoffman63
    @davehoffman63 4 роки тому +1

    I appreciate you doing this for beginners! But folks please understand it's not completely correct. That first lick is hammer on open A, to B, then, open D, hammer on to E (second fret on these) back to hammer on A, to, B, but what your missing is, finger on G string second fret, wipe off, so your playing an A note (on G string second fret) wipe off to the open G string, that's the whole opening lick. Confusing to describe, but that's how Ed King wrote it and recorded it. It's a hard last two notes to pull off, but with practice, you will see it's 100% correct. NOT trying to take away from this lesson, good for beginners, but I am filming the exact notes in my lesson tonight, should be up on UA-cam tonight, my channel is "Dave the guitar guy", I also just give beginner/intermediate lessons. But I can guarantee, I take a ton of time on all my lessons to watch the original artists play the song, so I make sure I get every note correct. I have everything from Pink Floyd, such as "Breathe" to Zac Brown band and everything in between. Thanks again guys! Dave the guitar guy.
