  • I've set out to fix a vibration issue at idle on my Tacoma's 3.4 V6 engine. Could a dirty throttle body the culprit? Watch to find out!

Maybe the issue was the throttle body gasket not being replaced the last time it was taken apart and cleaned? You mentioned it looked like it might have been cleaned recently. Maybe the last time they cleaned it they did not replace with a new gasket and it leaked causing the vibrations. When you replaced with a new gasket it was sealed and improved the vibration?

Try cleaning or replacing your IAC? If this engine contains a separate one like most Hondas do. They're usually on the back of the intake manifold.

If I am correct, on the 03 & 04 Tacoma 3.4l engines. The IAC is built into the throttle body and is not replaceable like it is on the 95 to 02 3.4l engines. If it goes bad you have to replace whole throttle body.

It sounds like you may have a vacuum leak. It could be from the throttle body gasket, but more likely from a vacuum hose.

Regular Italian tune up will help to avoid having to do this.
