Fun fact, even before the DLC dropped, the debriefing maps from Midnight’s Light to Consequences of Power do show Cascadia both invading and taking over territory in Magadan and then losing the Bering Strait and some territory in Alaska, lining up with the DLC story. D2 did plan some of this story in advance. 👀
I think FAN said it wasn’t specifically planned, but the fact the Cascadians launched a failed invasion of Magadan was an existing plot hook that could be expanded into a mini-campaign.
Yeah...i was so surprise that cascadians manage to pull off, considering that they are a rebel army, that that i thought i was going to go up there at some point.
This explains why Stardust was desperate for Hitman Team and what remained of Sicario. General Faust took a good chunk of the Cascadian and mercenary manpower on her crusade.

Considering how the one time someone (within the Peacekeepers, no less) did something behind Crimson 1's back, not only did the Second Calamity ensue as a direct result but the entire war also ended VERY poorly and out of control for the Federation as a whole, it would probably have been for the best.
It's interesting that Steel 1 was referred to as "your highness." Does this mean that the Peacekeepers have actual royalty among them? That's gotta complicate the command structure

One part that makes the refusal of the ceasefire hit so hard is that for the first time in the series there isnt priorty targets to destroy. It genuinely requires complete descruction of enemy forces. Something that even playing as *mercs* was merely an option for pay in every mission.

Don't forget that a couple of days ago in-universe, the Cascadians ran down a similar Federation retreat, only stopped when they outright surrendered, and the Feds in said retreat were worried about the Cascadians summarily executing them. Open Season happens a couple of days before Magadan Front. Couple that with the fact that the people Woodward is trying to evacuate are the Black Eagles Division - the same guys who just spent the better part of a month skull-fucking Magadan, and going by the News broadcast we get in M4, have been getting their murder-boner on in addition to destroying the energy infrastructure.

Mission 11 Cold War in the base game is a reflection of this war as a whole. There is no turning back, just escalation after escalation, until both sides doubled down on the table. Either the last of you die, or you kill them all.
I honestly wish we can get these missions in the PC version of PW as a DLC. Locking it behind the PlayStation is just a dick move for us players who play on our PC.
It seems to be timed exclusive because they cant talk about it’s future in other platforms yet. Sony paid for this DLC from the looks of it and is not part of the Kickstarter planed or promised content so I wouldn’t be too upset yet.

I like the Peacekeeper group name drops. I would be interested to see the franchise turn into a bunch of lads picking off each of these PK groups one by one. Since the Federation was in ruin after Cascadia's breakaway, I wouldn't be surprised to see conflict break out in the Federation with the PK groups as the main leverage in the skies. Essentially, I'm saying that Project Wingman could become a franchise of a bunch of lads singlehandedly tearing the Federation apart piece by piece.

No surrender would be honored here, sending dogs on the CIF, mixing white phosphorus and cordium to incinerate their fleeing enemy, and the manipulation of a good intentioned ceasefire to reveal the positions of fleeing CIF. Cruelty for the sake of cruelty. The Feds had already won and were prolonging the fighting after the proposed ceasefire, risking the lives of their own men on the ground just to add to the slaughter. Captain Woodward made the right call to try to save the men he'd been handed by Faust as she abandoned her post. If only more officers were like him there would be a lot less bloodshed and possibly an expedited end to the conflict.

Project Wingman isn't a spinoff of Ace Combat, but is heavily inspired by it. It was made by 3 people who were big Ace Combat fans, and PW is basically a love letter to Ace Combat. Very similar, yet very different but in a good way :)
Depends on if Driver has more experience than he lets on. Otherwise, Monarch probably bodies through shear experience edge as a mercenary would have way more air hours. Prez wins WSO tho; would have handled Monarch through that tunnel like a champ.
