The reason I like this movie, other than the fact I'm a sucker for romance, is the way it's filmed. I love how it cuts back to their first meeting, when she says, "My name is Latika."
This was the scene where I was almost breathless, and it really made me cry to the point that I had a stomachache, it touch me to a personal level. POWERFULL MOVIE.

Who would've thought that the music from a game show could be used so powerfully in a film? This is why Danny Boyle is so good, not so much the visuals (which are indeed top-notch) but the way he uses music and sound.
This was such a great movie. When I watched it, I couldn't stop smiling whole day. Really this made me believe that true love does really exist. I love this movie!
The WHOLE movie was incredibly intense right from the get go. I saw this on Valentine's day and the theater was packed.(Unusual in these days of Netflix, etc.) When the final question came up on the screen the whole audience gasped. Already a classic.
Even though I had already seen this scene ahead of time, I was still nervous when I watched the movie last night and this scene came on. The movie really is something else. I'll honestly be surprised if it doesn't win the oscar for best picture.
This scene is so powerful! It basically sums up all of his life and makes the audience feel so happy. Tbh I almost stood up and cheered when he got the answer correct! xD
when I was in the movies at that moment I was crying so much that my stomach started to hurt, and I needed to breath...this movie is so great, that like Rob Hilton says: "Everybody rubs their movie ticket on themselves, because this is OHMIGOD THE BEST MOVIE EVER EVER EVER"
ive watched this movie about 4 times and my heart still thumps in this sceane and the one were he answers the question even though i know whats going to happen :)
I can't believe some of the hateful things people can come up with these days. This is one of the best films I have ever seen and the fact that they are different is why it is such a special movie. The story is fantastic and can't get enough of it. Bravo Slumdog Millionaire, it deserved every award it recieved!
+Wing Alex Dude no one gives a shit. This movie was a masterpiece. Understand that films aren't about how much sense the story makes, it is about how the story is told.
He told the police that he didn't know who was the third musketeer so it actually makes a lot of sense, considering that the host didn't want him to win.
Not necessarily, no one would expect an uneducated slumdog" to the know the answer of a character name of French novel written a few hundred years before.
+smiped India isn't some undeveloped wasteland. Although a lot of poverty is portrayed in the media, India has parts and classes as developed as you country (if not more). We have some of the best colleges in the world. It is ignorant for you to assume that we are underdeveloped and that we don't read.
@@TheSuperCoolPop What you said is only true if you were able to obtain the education in the first place. Jamal was never given an education nor did he go to any academic institution. A simple question about a famous story would be hard for someone who doesn’t know it.
I couldn't stay in my seat when he picked the question. You feel so much sympathy for the poor guy that you really want him to win the 20 million rupees. Great movie! Best I've ever seen!
I have it on DVD, and I took it to my friend's house to show it to him. He is one of those "Saving Private Ryan"-style movie fans. He was reluctant at first, but once the movie starts he just sat glued to the couch. Only when this scene came on did he start jumping around going "pick it up Latika, pick it up."
I think it's safe to say that it wouldn't have mattered to Jamal if he lost, cus he probably already felt like he won when he knew Latika was safe
Exactly, which is why he just says, whatever, A
when she states her name and they flashback to her as a child stating her name, that part always gets me.
Hello sir Can you please reply?
@@Someone-ln8vk why?
Literally
It just got me too!
I've seen this movie about a dozen times. Every time, I'm afraid she won't reach the phone in time.
The reason I like this movie, other than the fact I'm a sucker for romance, is the way it's filmed. I love how it cuts back to their first meeting, when she says, "My name is Latika."
This is just one small example Academy award winning editing and sound mixing.
*heart racing!!!!* This scene takes my fucking breath away every single time I watch it. Best Picture of the Year AND HOW!
LMAO IM DOING EVERYTHING BUT STUDYING FOR FINALS FML

This scene made me cry though I didnt expect this film to make me do so.
This was such a great movie. When I watched it, I couldn't stop smiling whole day. Really this made me believe that true love does really exist. I love this movie!
this is definitely one of my favorite movies, it's so beautiful.... and sad..... and oh!

incredibly intense right from the get go.

Ohh i would hv liked to be there :o
I watched it on dvd at home with my family. And despite being only 8 or something at that time, i rly enjoyed it
Great scene. I love how they cut back to the scene in the rain where Latika first introduced herself.

This scene is so powerful! It basically sums up all of his life and makes the audience feel so happy.
Tbh I almost stood up and cheered when he got the answer correct! xD
Me too, I was like "Run to the car, Latika, run fast!!!"
Danny Boyle is excellent at building suspense.
omg that was my favourite scene !!

Man, this turns me into a weeping little girl every time. He doesn't care about the money--he only ever cared about her. Awwwww.
when I was in the movies at that moment I was crying so much that my stomach started to hurt, and I needed to breath...this movie is so great, that like Rob Hilton says: "Everybody rubs their movie ticket on themselves, because this is OHMIGOD THE BEST MOVIE EVER EVER EVER"
This damn movie featured romance at its best
this movie was amazing. loved it.

ive watched this movie about 4 times and my heart still thumps in this sceane and the one were he answers the question even though i know whats going to happen :)
The greatest movie ever made 😲😲
Most intense part EVER!!!
When I first saw this, I was yelling 'Pick up the phone bitch!' It was so intense! truly a masterpiece

I remember how I was screaming at the screen at this scene. Go Latikaaaaa. :D
Crazy, so many ancient comments here :D
the best movie of the year.....awesome to say the least!! and one of the best scenes of the movie...
I had a heartattack when she wouldnt fucking run fast enough.
Absolutely yes!! People have his right to choose live well.
No matter how many times I see this, I always fucking cry. ALWAYS. Idk why I even cry anymore since I know this back to back.
This is my favorite scene in the movie. I want that ring tone!
Amazing film !
lol when my friend finished watching the movie he was like "so.. where was the dog?"
Be like, Jamal was the dog, he barks, aroof!

It is an excellent movie. don't miss it
"What was the name of the turd musketeer?"
ARAMIS
Kapoor's way of speaking in this film is hilarious. "Millionaire" becames "millinaire"; "Dumas" becomes "Jumas" and "player becomes "playa". LOL
This along with Braveheart and American History X are the most powerful movies I've ever seen
Nearly jumped up and down when she picked up the phone! best movie!
