It wasn't overlooked, surdas was blind and he wrote that song. The villian was blinding the kids so they get more alms out of pity.. And the blind kids were made to sing the song which was written by surdas who was also blind.
True. When my parents told me as 9 year old about how these people make u disabled to make u beg more, it used make me so scared.

One day i might call you for a favor.till then...
This movie is masterfully made
Shitty movie lol
Oh yes it is really possible to have a peaceful moment like Jamal did in the end because in India not many people would immediately recognise you from the thousands of faces as the guy who just won something on TV.
Also not everyone watches the show! Even if someone found him, they would think why would a dude who just won a million be in a railway station. Although the kissing would demand a lot of attention.
😂
Jedidiah Daniel: 'Cause Mumbai traffic sucks. Plus he now travels first class 😛
true, they say 90 million watched him, but in India, its nothing, 90 million can be found in a small area.
so many faces, so much look alike faces, in the dark while the colour skin isn't bright, its very easy to not recognize famous people
- Criticises the movie for being dated by using an old game show
- Makes a Gangnam Style joke
Because... reasons?
Welcome to Cinema Sins, I see you are new here.
How is Gangnam style outdated I watch it every fay
And this movie is not even dated as this game show is still very popular in india and is still being broadcast
sft
Who wants to be a millionaire was popular in 2009. Gangnam style was popular in 2013, so it's more recent
I swear even if they had 10 seconds of logos, these guys would count it as a sin
Except that they literally took a sin off for Monsters Inc. which only had 10 seconds of logos. It was the first movie on this channel to start with negative sins.
It's called "they don't give a fuck either way"
Get with it will ya 😁😁😁
About that...
@@iout wall-E starts with -5
@@rohanpotdar908 I said that Monster's Inc was the first movie to start with negative sins, not the only one.
They did explain how he got on the show. They just weren’t super obvious about it.
Remember the scene in the call center where everyone suddenly stopped working to make a phone call. Someone asks what’s happening and someone else says: “they are calling in for a spot on the game show.” They also show the protagonist doing the same.
The point: it was clear how it happened though the decided not to show it.
Exactly! Just waiting for someone to say it.
For someone whose job is to nit pick a movie, you’d think cinemasins would catch this fact instead of making a inaccurate sin
You know. I tried doing a cinema sins type thing with just my wife as the audience, so I can attest to how challenging this sort of thing can be.
I wouldn’t rate them too poorly as there are many sins they catch that I never did. And they are funnier about it too!
Keep on sinning those movies!!!
@@johnnyblaze1411 he literally does it on purpose
@@johnklaus9111 maybe dont watch the movie one time? Watch it 3 times, and then it will be easy...
This was for the first time I found cinema sins sound really dumb when most of the sins were actually explained in the movie itself!
It's very often that Jeremy either doesn't pay attention to the details or just doesn't go back and adjust his sins.
Well then you haven't been paying attention to the movies that are "sinned" here. Every single movie they reviewed is pointless dumb ranting.
Its not my first time, its like they only watch parts of the movies. I enjoy cinema sins but it pisses me off when they are wrong.
only the first time? lmao
Let me explain something to all the people in this thread: CinemaSins is meant as COMEDY! These videos aren’t meant as serious reviews
Let me ask you something: do you only get upset if the movie they’re doing is one you really like? Aaaah, there you go!
Plus 100 sins for referring to Latika as “Lateeka” the entire time
And Javed as "Javeed"
.
i don't think Jeremy has watched the movie
I've always loved how at the end when latika says "my name is latika" when she's on the phone it flashes back to the first time she says that to Jamal. Great editing.
@totallyaverage101 haha yeah I was just reminiscing on this movie
the second comment lol
It's not editing doofus
Also how Jamal kisses her scar and the movie rewinds everything that led up to that event as if he kissed her scar away!! God I love this movie!!!
totallyaverage101 80% of the sins were complete and total bs so nothing wrong with showing some love to the things this movie got right. I’m taking 25 sins away for just scene.
Woah, woah, woah, hold it right there. Cinema sins sins time. Who Wants to be a Millionaire was not originally hosted by Regis Philbin. It was hosted first in the UK by the legendary Chris Tarrant.
Who was also antagonistic towards the contestants
Someome tell birdman
also, i don't think he needed to specify it was when he was alive.
Andrew Webb yeah I noticed that Americans always trying to take credit for British creations they did it with the office too
*Ding*
My favorite interpretation of the ending is one that came from my Mom. She told me: "In the end, the two brothers both became millionaires, but in different ways and Salim took the consequences of getting there."
I love cinemasins, and I always look forward to seeing the sins of movies I like. It's rare for me to actually think "this is badly written". But, uh.. this sins video is badly written.
"Man, this isn't Jeopardy... this is a VERY specific program that was super-popular in the early 2000s and was originally hosted by Regis Philbin, back when he was alive. And it makes this movie dated as HELL"
early 2000s. movie was released 2008. its 2019 and you're just now doing the sins video for it. now, whos dated as hell, jeremy?
Regis is not dead.
also Regus is not dead, and the original show was British not American, and pretty similar to this indian representation.
ALSO, why should it be similar to the american version of the show? India has a version of who wants to be a millionaire, thats what this film is meant to be impersonating, and it does a pretty good job of it.
Jeremy just sinning shit he doesnt understand.
@@control2XS You must be new here if any of what you just wrote is a surprise.
Chill dude
I don't think i've ever seen Jeopardy but in Germany "who wants to be a millionaire" is(!) a very popular program since 1999. Assuming that it was very popular in India in 2008 isn't that much of a leap?
Regis Philbin is still alive, you scared me with that shit. Don't do that again.
MrPuretrollin scrolling through the comments for this. Geez I’m like when did this happen

Kong: Skull Island definitely let Cinemasins heavily affect his work, and got _really_ mad when he made a sins video on it
Who wants to be a millionaire is still huge in India. Not dated, accurate.
And on top of that, the fact that cinemasins are late to the party and pooping on this film makes the movie dated? No it makes cinemasins lazy and disconnected from their fanbase. UNSUB
Still ongoing in Turkey too.
In Germany it still exists too and is watched by a lot of people
The Indian reality show worth watching, sad it runs for only few months and because of big B's age, I m always scared he might not return next time. the show is nothing without him.

MsZ0mb agreed. Big sin
I have 1 word for you my friend
Th3Birdman
Fr, the 10min rule has made it annoying
I actually like the new format, personally, but admittedly it's not like it used to be and many things aren't really that terrible. Still, I find it quite enjoyable to watch.
I espescially hate it when some people are trying to point out "Relax! It's just for jokes!". But many of the sins are neither actual sins, nor are they actually comedic in any way whatsoever. It's sometimes like they didn't even pay attention to the movie. It's just pointless runtime-padding, which incidentally is one of the most frequentally sinned things.
I love how he has clips where the characters say Latika's name and he immediately comments and pronounces it incorrectly.
wolverinefangowings yeah it’d be okay if he only read it but he watched the whole film and still said it wrong

Who wants to be a millionaire is a long running well known British game show originally hosted by Chris Tarrant and is now hosted by Jeremy Clarkson so this movie is not dated it may seem like that to an American but the movie is a British based movie as the writer and director of Slumdog millionaire are both British
Jeremy Clarkson is the UK host? That sounds awesome, I kind of want to watch the British (or original) version now lol.

@Alex Rogers Nah, I'm Danish. I don't know why, but I don't think other countries' version of "Who wants to be a millionaire?" is aired here. I'm assuming it's because they want to make as much money as possible from their own stuff (as it is a somewhat expensive game show), so it is indeed best I watch the British version on UA-cam.

@@NCMonefaith looks like Birdman has a good sin just waiting for him in first few seconds
He got on the show because all the contestants are random. Since he worked for a call center, he called in because he thought that if he was on the show, Latika would be watching. The directors invited him because of pure luck or they just wanted a joke contestant. Also he forgot to sin the "meet me at the train station every morning." That train station is probably as big as a small island with probably a million people there. And the part where him and Salim go to Mumbai just to find Latika in a city of 18 million people. The chances that he finds Latika AND the blind guy is very slim. Also the part on how Jamal would know what the god Rama was holding? Their family is Muslim, and lived in a Muslim neighborhood his whole life. That way, it's logical that he wouldn't know what Hindu gods look like. Jamal knew what Rama looked like because he saw a child dressed up as Rama, but he had no way of knowing whether that was the god Rama or not, since Hindus believe in many gods.
Train stations have platforms which makes it easier to find someone. What Rama was holding seriously? It's like asking what was jesus crucified on. I'm a Christian and I myself know it. India is widely diverse with huge population yeah.. But there's a lot of exchange and connection between cultures and dude you are exaggerating everything as if we roam as nomads not knowing where we go everytime we board trains. @@DrDothraki he also worked in tag mahal for a few years, maybe he heard talk about gods there

The Taj Mahal is from the Mughal empire, which was Islamic. Therefore it’s unlikely that there would have been much relevance to Hinduism. At the same time, Rama is one of the most important Hindu gods, so it might be assumed that any Indian would recognize the general appearance.

Maybe I'm biased, but it seems like you just didn't like this movie and wanted to sin it as much as possible. Basically you just sinned shit because you didn't understand what was happening or the context of it. You gotta understand that there is a reason this movie didn't take place in the US or Europe but in India, where a lot of these portrayals are very realistic. I am all for a good critique, that's why I have been subscribed for a long time now, but you should at least attempt to understand a movie before you just sin it into the ground. Ditch the western-centric approach to a movie set in another culture, and I swear half these sins disappear
Cinema sins is not critique. Never has been. Every video has stuff like that just to piss people off
Yeah but that doesn’t make it entertaining, which is the entire premise of CinemaSins
Most of the times they do this to other movies it would atleast sound witty. But this time around they sound dumb. They for sure were biased and it's clearly visible that they just didn't like the movie.
They do this to everything that’s outside of the culture he’s familiar with. Even with things that within black American culture. They don’t care to look at it from any other view than their own.
Trash- Konto they do this in all their videos. They just like taking the piss out of movies
Regis hadn't even died yet!
He just passed this year in June
Wow that bit with the alcatraz at the end killed me 😂😂👌🏼👌🏼 "but everyone calls me Vicky" 🤣
Movie turned 10 last month
It’s a huge miracle this man knew all the answers because of the life he lived
Funny how no one else had the same experience
But this movie shows the real face of the caste system in India
Overall this is a near perfect film
I mean seriously caste ? 🤡 where it is ? I'm myself Indian ! Its a British produced film what u expect from them ?
3:22 I’m pretty sure the tension building over an answer was common on all versions of Millionaire.
half of these weren’t even actual cinema sins, definitely missed with this one
I've never watched this film, but have heard about it everywhere. Now, after watching this sins video...I think I finally want to see it. Thanks CinemaSins.
these videos never get old
Litertally it has no plot holes...Thats why it took you 10 years to make this Sin Video!!😂😂
@sheldon pereira you got that wrong. The movie doesn't advocate those things. Those things happen here. It just shows them... I am not saying that the movie doesn't have plot holes...
@sheldon pereira
Plothole
"an inconsistency in the narrative or character development of a book, film, television show, etc."
Pothole
"a deep natural underground cavity formed by the erosion of rock, especially by the action of water."
Make up your mind
@sheldon pereira Do you even know what a plot hole is?
@sheldon pereira Be honest, you're stupid right?
@sheldon pereira Learn what a fucking plothole is. Advocating child rape, kidnapping and prostitution
, even if true, it`s a not a plothole, moron.
This is trippy. I'm doing a report on this movie in film (first time I saw the movie). And I was looking up clips and journal articles on this and wrote a small bit about it the night before. Now, this happens. Mind=blown...
I literally just finished watching this movie for an essay I have to write and this coincidentally was uploaded today
Pardon me for asking, but what would be the optimal duration(in seconds) for any film to be alloted in the display of logos and stuff?
Approximately 0 second
The 20th Century Fox logo with triumphant music is 20 seconds long and perfect.
Regis Philbin is totally still alive. He’s 87, but still.
I've gotten to the point where I have watched every single CinemaSins video there is for the movies I have watched, and for quite a few of the movies I haven't.
"And was originally hosted by Regis Philbin, back when he was alive..."
Upload date: Feb 19, 2019...?
You are way to hung up on the american version of WWTBAM, different countries have different rules.
@K Weaver and that's it.
They didn't censor "BHOSADIKE'😂😂😂😂😂😂
What's that?
@@priscillajimenez27 it's a Hindi swear word... Basically means "cunt"

10:06 - In India, they lock the answer and doesn't ask a contestant if that's their "Final Answer." Same thing in the Australian version. *ding!*
I just had to watch this movie for a class and really wanted a sins video on it...my prayers have been answered!
After watching Slumdog Millionaire and Lion, I can't help but get the impression that life in India is a horror show for a decent portion of the population. American slums may be bad but it seems tame comparitively.
But I also have never been there so I'm a product of what I've seen.
It is really bad, yes. Especially for slum-dwellers in big cities like Mumbai. But movies always dramatise a bit, so don't take stuff at face value (Eg. - How Hollywood shows american high schools vs how they actually are). A big chunk of Indian people in urban areas live typical boring middle-class lives, and that's obviously something movies rarely show.
India is very diverse from one side to another
Looks, languages, food, clothes etc.

@@ananasbanana ooo egdy 😘
I don't think America has slums.
India is a shithole in the East, a hole of shit in the West, a hollowed-out turd place in the North and a pile of shit in the South. So diverse.
