How long do you reckon you could hold 5k pace for? What distance should the team try next?
Half marathon pace, but try a pyramid session and see who can last the longest
Try running for as long as you can at World Record Walking Pace 🚶♀
just on 600m. Try the mile world record in a 60m dash?
Maybe 0.2 seconds of their starting pace depending on their reaction times
About 300m
“Run like Mo until the hundred metres and then ACTUALLY do a sprint finish.” Sarah is savage.
🔥
Karsten Warholms coach has a saying; "Well done is better than well said". Seems appropriate in this case. 😂
All talk and no game. Well, she did pretty well tbh.
this is what i love about TRC. everyone is at different paces yet you all try and do the chalanges and spur each other on which is why i watch all your videos :)
This. It is great because it represents a wide variety of physiques, running techniques and experience. It is a great channel indeed.
I love how this channel celebrates runners of all levels. Thank you.
Any challenge that involves Anna Is worth watching and still, the best chemistry is between Anna "and" Rick hope to see more videos with those two.
Yes! I love seeing them together. Takes me back...
I love seeing the team together! The camaraderie (and joking) is heartwarming.
Best job in the world :)
i think i got a stitch watching from my desk
😂😂😂😂😂😂💪🏻
Jess is such a good addition to TRC
My 1km PB is 2:50. I set that back in my 20s (I'm almost 40 now). Strange to think that at my peak, I would not even be able to keep up with the women's 5k World Record pace for a kilometre!
I'm 28, started running last year, and my best km is 3:35 , long way to go for me😄
yea sad
I always like these videos were the team puts the effort together. Also Mo's excuses 😂😂
Also, the thumbnail is so vibrant 🎉 my fave moment was Rick and Sarah lil squat moment ❤❤❤
Thanks! We're really glad you enjoy our team videos 😁 What should we take on next?
Also Mo's excuses. He blames his hair now, aerodynamic😂
I appreciate you guys doing this kinda thing about running. I'm into an early stage of my life running/jogging at 41 years old. I still have a lot to learn doing it on my own without any coaching or assistance. Just your channel here on UA-cam and a little bit of research. Keep up the good work 🤘
Thank you for this, the perspective you've put on this, shows the immense performance of the elites! And how far away normal people are from that!
I’m so glad to see Anna in videos again, maybe she was on holiday or something but I missed her while she was gone! ❤❤❤
Anna stepped down as producer at TRC and move on to other projects but still comes back to present sometimes - but still a treat to see her! 😆
So cool to see you having so much fun. One can see Anna's experience. Great running.
Would be interesting to see you try 100k or 100 mile world record pace, or 24 hour world record pace and see if you can hold that for a kilometre (or maybe a few).
LOVE The Group Videos!!! You guys are a brilliant bunch of people! 🎉❤🎉
Great episode! Really fun and motivating.
I really don't think I could hold that 5k pace for very long. Probably somewhere between 100-200 meters. That's a crazy fast pace.
As far as speed callenges go, I was going to say world record 10k pace but just saw that you guys already did that one. Different world record ultra marathon paces would be interesting. Like double marathon pace, if you haven't already done that.
When I grow up I want to be as fast as Jess 😮⚡️
Anna's determined face is the best bit about this video!
Loved this video. Group challenges like these are definitely my favourites!
Glad you like them!
always fun watching Jess. she’s a great addition to the team. Need to ask tho does Andy really going to do the full marathon soon?
Mo's excuses are brilliant! Great effort, and amazed no one lost their breakfast
Fantastic!!! You were all awesome. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
James is absolutely adorable! Everyone did such a great job 👏🏾
Great video 😃.
Any chance you could do some more canicross ones? 🐶. Maybe an update on how Anna is getting on with Ralph, or Andy taking on some speedy canicross runners and their dogs, or even the team trying it out themselves!
Love the team challenges!
So good, you guys are great!!!
I love these types of videos of yours ❤
The light balance on this video was weird, FYI.
I’m always excited to see Anna!
Got to love the inclusivity of all runners on TRC 👏👏 great challenge, great entertainment
Eh ??
Right? That's why I like this channel🙌
The music/overall audio mix on this video was 🔥🔥
What a fun video. Those world records are amazingly quick.
Great jobs! You are all faster than me. Almost makes me want to try an all out 400m. I don’t think I can run sub 2 minutes.
The inspiration I need for my interval session tomorrow. Although I’m nowhere near that quick!!
That was fun to watch! Did you shoot this video on the same day you did the pizza mile?
Damn, you guys were flying down the track, awesome effort! I wouldn't be even able to run that fast no matter the distance 😅
To be fair you should let them get to speed since it's a 5k split. Give them 40-60 yards to get to speed. That push sprint just kills your endurance right away. I do this type of training for speed.
I run 2.4, 5 and 10K distances only. Can only do sub 60 for 400m simply because i have been doing SITs (75 metres) and recently for the past 4 months hill sprints. I also do strength training for the legs using resistance bands. Upper body would be bicep curls/push ups. The neuromuscular stimuli from shorter intervals are also good, i prefer very much 200m and 400m intervals. About to start some plyometrics, it's supposed to improve RE as well, other than impsorve explosive power. Age 52 here.
I hope we get to see more sprint challenges like this from the whole team of presenters
I love watching this video I can’t wait to try this on my local track 😍
Let us know how you get on!
One of my favourite of recent vids and a lot more relatable for sure. Great banter 😂 only way to improve on a great team? Someone well over 40! Please 😊🥺😊😊😊😊
Yes, would love to see a regular older presenter on the channel
how lucky you are to have a track in your city. I live in Turin and they're just closing ours for a year and a half for renovations :(
These World Record Pace Videos are always fun to watch.
Great vid as usual. But why is the saturation is so low? Feels grey.
Love this video!
I love running but there is no way I could hold a 60.4 second 400m 😂
Love to watch this race🥰
With some painkillers, so I could ignore my shin pain, I might be able to do 100m at that pace (edit: also, not sure how you warmed up, but some faster strides before this kind of challenge probably would help)
I think they should have a rolling start... as the WR average lap time included 12 flying laps... ;)
Amazing motivation
New challenge idea: have the team race eachother in a 5k but everyone starts off at a different point of the course depending on their speed. So since Andy is the fastest he begins at the beginning and has to run a full 5k, someone who's a bit slower would start further up, someone whose current fitness is half the speed of Andy starts 2500m up the course etc. Would make for a thrilling finish
There's a similar video from 2 Feb 2022 called "A 5K Race Anyone Can Win" but that has staggered start times.
Yeh, I remember the days of high school. Just to break 60 seconds in a quarter mile was a bear. At the 3/4 mark or 330 yards, was when “The Bear Jumped on Your Back” Lactic acid swoops down through your body from head to toe and after that it is just a matter of survival. I really miss those days. Ah, to be young again! Later on in college, the 800 meter race was even worse. You had to deal with “The Bear” for the last 200-300 meters. I do not know how I survived; except for being young!
I know this is "The Running Channel", but you could do the same concept with a mini triathlon, or even other fitness disciplines you don't normally train like swimming, biking, speed walking, etc.
That put a smile on my face.
Would a 400m straight track make it a 5k shuttle run? That just sounds brutal
the banter between Sarah and Mo is 🎉gold
Eliud Kipchoge's marathon pace is friggin insane, so it won't be easy.
You should run the allotted time and see how far around you get
It just occurred to me that the records were set with spikes and you guys are not wearing any. I think you all should come back with spikes and do a proper attempt. 😂 …and no watches allowed!
If Sarah really wants to break 20 in the 5k I think she should do a round of training focusing on top end speed.
Come on Rick, join in! Not like you've had surgery or anything 🙄🤣 well done everyone 👏 brilliant effort 😃
Can always use hands instead of feet
Something is off with the colours in this video. Still fun to watch tho
So quick!
Absolutely great video y'all!......Soo much fun to watch, interesting, and surprising!......Most did better than I thought, and suffice to say ......it makes me feel even better about my running progress at 57 years old.....lolol.....joking.....great effort by all....
Glad you enjoyed it!
"What pace were your running?" "My singing pace" "Oh, I see, good strategy" haha
I wouldn't be able to follow for more than 50 meters. 2:30 is absolutely full sprint pace for me.
This video physically hurt to watch. I felt it in my chest every time they started. I've never had sympathy pains watching a TRC video until today. Gads, that was painful.
Try to imagine the difference between the 5k recod pace and the 10k record pace. Now, imagine the marathon record pace is 68 seconds per 400 meters! Truly insane.
I did a 60 seconds lap more than 20 years ago, but that was not my main goal. Now I am not sure I could run a 15 seconds 100m.
“Incident detected!” LOL 😂😂😂
Group Training focus today 3x 800m + 2x 200m. Me: trying not to die. I’m 54. Let’s see if I can even complete 3, first. Then add 98F degrees in California. 🥵😵💫.
Actually hope it’s cancelled.
My God 😮
Standing starts though ?
"Bring the style, not the pace." 👊
I think for the 100 it would be fair to have a moving start and cut out the acceleration for something like this.
its 2min31sec per kilometer, which is just shy of 24km per hour!! Some cant even bike that speed for 5km...lol.
How about an attempt on the UK Women's Record Half Marathon Pace. Eilish McColgan's 1:05:43
That's 3:10 per km or 18.6 seconds per 100m
Try it in a 5 by 100m relay format on the track.
Pick your best 5. (or only 5 😉)
The first person runs 100m then passes the baton to the next person the first person stops and waits at the 100m point.
The second person runs 100 passes the baton to the third person then stops and waits at 200m.
The third person runs 100 passes the baton to the fourth person then stops and waits at 300m.
The fourth person runs 100 passes the baton to the fifth person then stops and waits at 400m.
The fifth person runs 100 passes the baton back to the first person then stops and waits at the 100m point.
Repeat until you fall off the pace at one of the kilometer points (Or keep going for a team half-marathon time).
It is brutal interval training 18 second sprint 1:12 rest. Repeat for 1hr 5mins
While not the challenge - Sarah's lap of 1:20 was the average pace for the first 7 laps of the women's 10k last week at the World Championships, so she'd be able to stick in the field there!
At least for a lap, I think she might have struggled with 7 though. 😂
It's really itching 'n 😆
I think I’ve only just realised that Rick and James are different people.
😂
Just watching Sarah is good enough for me😂
2:31/km is my 15 sec sprint. LMAO.
Why S-Log 3?
I can run Sub 20 5K that’s my PB nowhere near the elites but maybe 🤔 one day!
Use spikes guys👍🏽
So all of you are good runners, way faster than me(i run 3x per week) and your equivalent 200m speed is 5K wr pace, just sums up how fast these athletes are
Some close attempts there.... should have given them a rolling start rather than from standstill
especially on the shorter distances where just getting up to speed will take a few seconds
Gotta run in spikes surely , would have saved some seconds
Yoh Jess is faaaassssttt!!!!
I think Mos hairodynamincs is why he missed 400m time.
Yes, exactly.
Please tell us about Jess.
I don't think they should have to do a standing start...
How can any human run at that pace for 5km?
I know, it’s 🤯
You should be using age-graded times for everyone to be fair.
My sprint is a 4 min kilometre pace 😅😮
3:52 6:57 9:11 13:26
Flying start needed...
Oh my god I was so close! Lol
You should have dratted with 100 m.
how different people are... i can run 100m in 15 sec, i can't do a 5k under 30 yet
