60s TV Aspirin Commercial: Anacin

- There was a series of these commercials that followed the same basic script in different settings, the most famous of which was a woman cooking and fed up with her elderly mother's suggestions, finally exploded with "Please MOTHER! I'd rather do it myself!!" (which became a popular TV comedy punchline) as her poor mother slunk away. If anyone has this one, I'm dying to see it again.

My favorite Anacin ad is "Helen, please...I just got home - DON"T RUSH ME!"
Barry: I agree with you. She would have shot up the whole classroom if this commercial was made today.
Thanks for posting this gem.Still isnt the one am really on the lookout for,Mother please,I'D RATHER DO IT MYSELF!!! But all of the ads in this series are great.Finest commercials ever made.
The Beaver learned a lesson that day.
Till the day she died, my teacher was apologetic for losing her temper in class. RIP
Limevid2, the mother please ad is posted here by user drcole11. Got a huge kick out of seeing it again!
At the time, I can assure you that actual schoolkids (of whom I was one) mocked these commercials constantly with scenarios like what some of the comments here have said - teacher pulls out gun and shoots brat kids, old woman neighbor gives poisoned cookies to the boys who threw a ball into her yard, etc. There was a rock song titled "Mother, Please! I'd Rather Do It Myself". The lyrics mentioned "sure, you feel tense and irritable" and "keep Jimmy's bike out of the driveway".
I wish I could find the bike/driveway one.
my favorite was "how many times do I have to tell you to KEEP BILLY's BIKE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY!!" anyone remember the JoAnn Campbell song from 1963 that mentions all of those meltdowns "Mother Please! I'd Rather Do It Myself"? it's on UA-cam.
Dwight, click on the one labelled Anacin commercial posted by drcole11. It is the mother please one.
Cripe, I had nuns in grade school that were a lot worse than this. Not even Anacin could have helped them. Maybe I should have taken some.
50Emerald I heard nuns didn't spare any kids knuckles with those lethal rulers. :)
off-topic: Robert De Niro in 1980 doing a black and white 60's ad for Anacin as Jake LaMotta: "The steak is charcoal - Bring it over here!" (knocks table over, slaps his wife)(inner voice) "Sure you have a headache - You're tense, irritable, but......" 😆🥊🥊
It's actually.."Mother PLEASE!! I'd Rather Do It My-SELF!!!!!" And you CAN see it right here on You Tube. Just type in "vintage anacin commercial" and it will appear as you search.
I'd really like to see the one where the father comes home and goes ape shit on the wife about Billy's bike being in the driveway.
Yeah, Yeah.
Why don't they just give Anacin to all those kids and let her work on her issues. We don't even need the damn map!
I'd like to cure the teacher's headaches myself..with a little caressing,..:)
My caressing would be of her bare feet...
School Teacher Yells At The Children
She's about to about to pull off a one woman Columbine!
+voodoopicnic Better yet, if it's her "Aunt Flo" visiting, why doesn't she have a spare bottle of Midol in her desk drawer?
No, one of the kids would have mowed down the whole lot of them.
8 years later -- that didn't age well.
Anacin my foot! That teacher needs to resign. Maybe she needs Midol? 🤔
Well, better to take two Anacin than this kind of commercial:
TEACHER: {pulling out a handgun from her purse, taking aim} (screaming) "I've had enough of you brats for the last time!!!" {*Blam! Blam! Blam! Blam!*}
WAYNE LaPIERRE: "I'm Wayne LaPierre of the National Rifle Association, and I approve this message."
Originally seen in 1965.
