Your dogs are very well trained, congratulations. I wanted to mention bindy had one in the bucket she noticed was still alive, which is why she went after it. Bindy has improved so much that she is as good as boss in her own way...job well done!
I agree re: Bindi finding the live one in the bucket! But LOL, my first thought was that she could have been thinking, "Joe! Joe! Look here! I found a whooooole bunch of rats!" She is so smart - Joe really knows how to pick great dogs & train them well!
Look after yourself Joe! You deserve a new pair of boots. I'm so impressed with Bindi. You can just see how calm and smart and thoughtful she is. What a great little girl!
These dogs are an ideal example of teamwork - they work so well together! A job like this could need three times as many dogs, but it would get too confusing: what this team has is perfect. And it has been wonderful to see first Leeroy and now Daisy learning from their peers and really coming into their own, in ratting! They are real members of the team now, and I bet Kim's business is booming with the new skills they learned on this job. Joe,take care of that foot! You are irreplaceable!
Hope that nail injury heals up nice and swiftly! We need to get you some of those boots with metal plates to hopefully avoid it from happening again! Such a great job, hope you make it back once everyone recovers to finish off the job ❤
I love what you and the animals do, seems incredibly effective. The part I'm most intrigued by is why these farms let the rotten out buildings full of garbage just sit for so long.
Lazy farmers who only care about making the money and not taking care of the environment they work in, that's why it's in such a state and mess. And such it provides a breeding ground for rats and other critters. You cannot get rid of all the rats as they burrow and breed underground too, but removing potential overflow/spillage of feed and cleaning shelters/buildings/the land they live on to minimize further breeding of rats.
Farms are big projects run by a few people. Usually strained to their limits. Their work is directly affected by things like the economy, technological development, weather, equipment lifespan, social factors. Often it's hard or impossible to keep up and solve problems the ideal way
I read a comment that gave a pretty comprehensive explanation. Getting rid of the garbage costs money and time, that the owners can't afford to "waste". These are not little things that city people can throw away easily, but often very cumbersome materials and whatnot. The farmers wait until they have big enough piles to justify the cost of calling a waste disposal company. Each operation costs thousands, probably tens of thousand dollars each time. So better to pay once to remove the huge pile of waste than having to pay several times for smaller quantities that wouldn't fill the waste disposal truck.
@@little_dandelion I call bullshit on that answer, some of those piles have been there for decades. I grew up on a farm, this is just laziness or mismanagement. If this is a food producing farm, it even goes so far as being a health hazard.
Love how much you praise all your animals Joe and after the hunting the Dogs just cannot get any closer to you and cover your face in kisses 😘 we love you in Australia 🇦🇺
I love your dogs so much! They love their work, which makes it a joy to watch. Keep up the good work. Most humane and environmentally safe pest control! I wish more people used dogs natural instincts to do their work.
We're plumbers in the delta of Arkansas. I have seen some of these farms have CRAZY amounts of rats like this one. Mostly around grain silos. I am glad that y'all are using dogs to solve the problem. Seems faster and more humane than the ways I have seen around here.
I actually like rat, mainly pet Dumbo's, but there is just something viscerally satisfying watching these dogs do what they're naturally inclined to do trained to the peak of perfection by the humans. I love cats & believe they're also an integral part of farm maintenance. But they have nothing on the sheer numbers of dogs working hand in hand with humans. Although they do work independently daily. Also if we didn't control the invasive rats by killing them we'd be all overcome by rats. I'm good with native wood rats staying in their areas. These invasive ones need to die & I truly believe this is the most humane way possible.
Joe, you should invest in some steel toe boots with metal plates in the insoles. They do sell them for people that work in construction or whatever job the person works in that they think would need them, but in your case these boots would be a plus in helping to avoid situations like this! Love the vids, been watching for as long as you've been on UA-cam!
Wow!! Bindi and Daisy killed it!!! I love how Bindi just dove underneath boss and eventually caught the rat in a corner. Lot's of fantastic teamwork with the dogs. Ice and ibuprofen will help your foot heal. Rest and staying off the foot is also key. :)
I hope you took some time to recover after getting that wound cleaned and seen to! Adorable that Bindi thinks _'bring it to Papa!'_ perfectly equates to 'bucket'~😅
I keep thinking of that too in the videos where they work amidst junk. I would love to hear Joseph’s thoughts on that. As I understand from this video, cleaning up junk is (or gets to be) a part of the job?
I recently joined Joe's club, and it's got a lot of stuff from him, but also a great community. If you like interesting animal facts, interaction from Joe and family as well as videos not seen anywhere else, I'd recommend you join too. It's a nice little community and content he's created
This is so cool! Normal people just take their dogs to the park or something but this is so enriching to them. Certain breeds of dogs have high prey drives. Growing up, I had a pitbull that wasn’t nearly this trained but if we told her to watch for rats while we were going through our sheds, she was on it! We actually had problems with raccoons getting into our trash until we got her. She loved kids, people, and other dogs but if she saw a possum, raccoon, or rat, she was itching to take it down.
Can you find steel soles inserts for boots like we had in Vietnam? That should work. I once stuck a big nail all the way through my foot on a construction site, man did that hurt on the way out.
Putting the "man" in Minkman! I went to go do a couple things and came back to find him crawling across the floor, unable to walk on his foot anymore. He tore that whole second shed apart on that foot! It had to be killing him!
Ohh Joe, I felt that nail go in, having done it myself while running down hill in gum boots and stood on an old board with a nail sticking out. I’m glad the dogs don’t ever seem to get hurt. Another great vid to watch in middle of night!
So sorry about you're foot Joe I know how bad that can hurt having stept on a few in my time but honestly I love you're interactions with you're dogs its so amazing.
