This movie wasn’t even mindless entertainment fun in the slightest. A travesty. Another case of the background characters being far more interesting than the lead.
I actually really liked the movie. On the Pretties, the uncanny valley look is definitely on purpose. The surgery is extreme and in the book its quite weird looking. I think you clocked it early that "Ugly" and "Pretty" are kind of brainwashed terms here. The society encourages terrible self esteem so that only the surgery is counted as good and regular people with regular or even good looks is counted as repulsive. Its all to funnel people into the Surge. The CGI is not good ill agree. That said id rather have the movie with bad cgi than not at all. On familiar tropes, as a heads up this book was written years before most of them including Hunger Games and Divergent. Most of yhe tropes were novel at the time and both took some inspiration from Uglies.
On the tracker pendant. It was designed to not activate till either destroyed or activated on purpose. The overboard tracker was a decoy. It was intended that it wouldn't be sensed.
I was ready to stop watching the movie, 20 minutes in. 😂😂😂 Tally and David’s interactions, made my eyes roll. I genuinely couldn’t not roll my eyes. The only reason I got through the whole movie, is because I needed something to play in the background while I was working.
I guess idk why everyone expects young adult coming of age stories to be the next lord of the rings or game of thrones? It was an average movie that was pretty book acurate….considering how dirty they normally do the source material.
I feel like a lot of people went into this movie planning on hating it. It’s more cringe that you as a reactor is trying so hard to hate it. Watching a negative reaction all the way through gave me more of an headache

Oli London: the original pretty
I WAS WONDERING WHO PERIS REMINDED ME OF
@@EagleEyedSheLion LOL RIGHT it didn’t click until I watched this review
The pacing was so off because it was dragging and moving too fast simultaneously. Also, the bold glamour filter look of the pretties was taking me out
Bold glamor the movie
I tried to watch this yesterday, and I usually finish all movies I watch, but cannot finish this one. So glad to watch this video instead.
Me too! I got halfway & had to stop for the big headache it gave me from rolling my eyes too much!
He looks like Oli London 😂🤣
Tea!
“If she’s squint… what would that make ME?” BLIND🤣

The last line of the movie is identical to the book. It was a trilogy with each ending on either pretty, special, ugly, and extra.
Nooo he looks like Prince Charming from shrek 2 and that’s not a compliment 😂
The books came out a long time ago. The book series is really good
Laughed out loud multiple times you are funny af bro 😂
In SpongeBobs voice I’m screaming loudly I’m ugly and I’m proud 😂😂😂😂

People are too critical, this was a fun and pretty watch 😭
No it wasn't. You have no taste. This movie was horrible
I know right?! I feel that it was a good movie to pass the time, and I also missed the dystopia genere.
Yes, it was great for nostalgia! Sure it’s not good, but I’m not looking for deep themes when I watch this. Really fun watch :)
It’s called an opinion, and yours won’t change mine, lighten up and try not to be so hateful 🫶🏼
@@WispyKumo you still have no taste
