Thanks dude. I just found 2 socks and some undies in the motor and tons of lent in my 5 year old dryer. I stated it and immediately it begin to smell like the wires were burning but you gave me a idea and i appreiate it.
I just took apart my 15 year old LG dryer and cleaned the whole thing including the heat element encasement. It was loaded in the interior with lint, dust and hair! So much it was about the size of a small animal. Everything was covered include the motor. I vacuumed the motor, used a toothpick to remove dust trapped inside tight spaces, replaced the wheels and belt. Now, I did a test, turned it one everything seems to work, but it put out an immediate BURNING SMELL within a few seconds. (I did not your any cleaners or substances.) I would be so appreciative for advise?
The heating element could be going out.especially if u have never changed it in 15 years.make sure all the wheels are turning easy inside and the belt tensioner pulley
Is it taking too long to dry and does it seem like the interior is not heating properly? In that particular area it sounds like the heating element may have been jostled out of place. Since your units are brand new the best option is to call in for service.
My brand new dryer doesn't just smell like smoke but tons of smoke is pouring out and the dryer itself is super hot. This happened within a minute of using it empty. I haven't used it since. Should I request a replacement?

So it is normal for a new dryer to smell like smoke and have faint smoke emitting from the inside of the dryer during first use?
Smoke is coming from my light bulb. I don't see any burn marks on it, but we keep getting smoke. Is that normal, too?
Thank you!
