I was raised in the LDS church. My bio grandfather is still practicing polygamy. You have no idea how scary it is to leave. One thing I do know is that none of your "family" even acknowledges your existence. So proud of this woman. 💕

I dont feel like the LDS church is a cult unlike the FLDS. I was raised in the LDS church, and leaving it was no different than leaving any other religion in my experience. I'm still on great terms with everyone in my family.
I was baptised into LDS when i was 10... And i left.. Around 16? And they still show up at my door to tell me i need to reclaim jesus or whatever lmao but that's the worst of it... Really greatful for not having to go through this kind of stuff
I know this is so sad, as incest and genetic issues in their family (Do I even call it that?) must be vast, but I applaud Jessica for being responsible enough to go and take care of everything to protect her baby and her girls.
I would call it more a cult of closely shared genetics.

These health issues are from mixing family into the same family. I know because I have these health issues!

I had preeclampsia during my pregnancy, my baby was born at 31 weeks 2lbs. It is literally the worst thing I have ever gone through. You criticize your body and wonder why you couldn’t have a normal pregnancy. While most family’s leave with there beautiful baby, you have to leave without them. It’s gut wrenching to ask if your baby is alive after you have an emergency c-section. My baby made it but many don’t. And many mothers die from it as well.
If you ever need a safe house in NM I'm willing to help. I've been watching your shows and all of the people who have left are so strong!!

this genetic issue is well know by us who are aware of this polygamy groups, and yet these men and woman act stupid about it

I wonder why none of the ones who have gotten out don't consider getting genetic testing done if they got genetic profiles they could potentially find out what medical conditions and diseases they are prone to and prone to passing on to their offspring.

Get tested for factor v leiden. I had two high risk pregnancies and got a femoral clot after the first one. I now have a second, very large (2ft) clot 12 years later and i have to do those shots for life. I only found out I had it after I had my first child, bc they dont test for it unless they feel theres a reason. I know shes not probably reading this, but for anyone that has a clot for seemingly no reason, ask about a clotting disorder.

Pregnant women have EVER right to complain about there pregnancy when there are complications or even when there’s not!!! They know there body more than anybody. This is just sad

She got out when she was 15. She was set to marry her uncle and her and her sister went to court to leave and was adopted.

If she really wanted to be responsible, if she really wanted to keep herself and her child safe, she wouldn't have biological kids. Adoption is an option for people with genetic conditions that will be passed on or guaranteed pregnancy complications, yet it seems like no one wants to take this option. They'd rather risk their own life and risk having a child who dies or has to live with severe complications and pain. The need to pass on DNA is the biggest fault in humans. We live in a world full of children who need homes and love, yet people spend thousands of dollars or risk health and safety for all parties just to have a kid that looks like them. With the world the way it is now, it's egotistical and selfish to have biological children.

Down syndrome people and people with special needs are no less than ANY other person, so why should she adopt a child just because it MIGHT happen that the baby has an extra chromosome or anything else? Don’t you know that a pregnancy can be perfect and in the moment of birth the baby can suffer and remain paraplegic his/her whole life? Shall we discard that baby and give the mother an adopted one of her choice?!?!?! Who do you think you are to judge who should have children of their own or not?!?!?! Go yourself and adopt as many kids as you like, but motherhood is a personal choice and she is doing nothing wrong. You might want to talk to Hitler if you really believe what you just said.

Your context is all wrong here. Your title should be ESCAPING FLDS POLYGAMY!" The FLDS brand of polygamy doesn't come close to true biblical polygamy as described in God's Word, the Bible! I could go on and on comparing Mormon fairy tales to the truth of God's Word concerning polygamy.
