22 year old teacher here. I gotta say my favorite part is prepping high schoolers for college because if it’s not over complicated, or made to seem you have to be valedictorian to get in, it’s much less stressful and they feel more confident going into the next part of their life!
Wish I had you as a teacher. I'm thinking these practices are not just for school. I've overwhelmed my mind with stuff lately that has me in counseling. I don't do homework because I've been diagnosed as a severe case of PTSD from detachment. My brother complained I don't listen and my wife left me after 32 years of being my best friend but my brother has taken his life and I'm alone now. I don't know how to do the homework to deal with this in group
I especially love the essay advice portion! It's so true that you need to show an experience, and ask that "so what" question to get your message across to the admissions' officers.
Thanks for posting this Gohar, I have 6 or 7 colleges that I’m planning to apply for, already filled out all of the common app (except for the essay, not entirely happy with it yet). Best of luck to my peers applying this year!
Thank you Gohar. With your help, I was waitlisted, but then accepted into Yale.
That’s awesome! Congratulations!
congrats!

LITERALLY A GODSEND!!!

Getting myself prepared for when my time comes.
Hey I know you probably won't see this but your videos have really helped me become more productive and objective focused. But I have a question, what do I do if I'm in my latter half of highschool and previous "eh I'll do it later"s come back to haunt me, maybe make a short about course corrections or ways to springboard from a safety college to a midrange or even potentially reach if possible, just an idea from a fan in crisis.
gohar you are a time savior, thanks a lot
nice video, please make more long form videos! also can you make a video about chatgpt or online school vs in person
i love you Gohar, thank you

I have 2 safeties, 2 matches, 2 reaches. However, at one of my “reach” schools I’m applying into a major that is not one of their top 10 majors and I have a bunch of experience that will give me a step up.
Thanks bro
This video was really helpful. Can you also make a video on how to fill out the css profile.

Thanks for the info bro. I’m a junior in high school rn and senior year I’m probably gonna do a internship with Pratt and Whitney through my school. I’m also doing the quest for space program through my high school aswell. Just hope everything can work out in the long run and that money won’t be to big of an issue. Also, any recommendations for aerospace engineering schools in GA?
only aerospace in GA is tech. Purdue has a great program for aerospace.
georgia tech has a nice aerospace program
Thank You Gohar I was waitlisted but then Accepted into Rice University.
Can you comment on AWARDS? What Awards did you recieve during your time in highschool, and were they a major part of your apps?
Thanks.
I am currently in my senior year and this is a blessing, thank you so much Gohar, seriosuly, this is everything I could ask for.

AWESOME VIDEO!
You're too nice, people want to go ahead in life and want others to lack, but you're the complete opposite
Love form 🇮🇳, My dream is MIT
Me too see you there
Another piece of advice: if you've got a teacher that had you multiple times in sophomore and/or junior year, that'll be even better.
Thank you so much Gohar, you're amazing. and it would be great if you can post a video about CSS Application tutorial. I couldn''t find any helpful ones :'(
Thank you soooo much

Hey Gohar, I am applying Early Decision to a college and want to ask that what should I do first? Submit the application and then apply for financial aid or vice versa...
It would be great if you could make a video for international students
Finaly posted
As a freshman, I am blessed I have found a youtuber like gohar khan
I started grade 12 this year and I want to apply to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but I saw things difficult and the requirements were a bit difficult. I see myself now lost and I don’t know, even though in six months the baccalaureate exam awaits me.
thank you so much
Hey gohar can you make a video on how to apply for colleges in the USA as a international student?
As an only child, Gohar Khan literally feels like an older sibling who's there to help 😭😭
I got lucky with the essay. One of my Humanities teachers in Senior year was my American Lit teacher in sophomore year, and is a former admissions counselor. I wrote a chessay. The first edition, she tore apart within minutes. The second one, took me a while to do. I could not do anything with it for nearly two months because of the classic writer's block. Then I finished it, and my teacher quickly approved it. That was the only essay I had to write.
what is the difference between teacher and councelor recomandation letter? Can one teacher write not only a rec letter but also a councelor rec as well?
please make the financial aid video , i am an international student and am really worried about the financial aid part of college
As for me, I am a great 9 student, and for college I want to study at De La Salle University or DLSU and I feel pretty nervous when I get there tough
Fafsa and Css profile's videos will be helpful.
Hey Gohar, the ROI Calculator is not publicly shared (Access denied). Could you change the settings on Google Sheets? Thanks man!
im literally panicking about applying to colleges rn since I haven't started anything. legend.
Please make video for international students guide
Any recommendations for a student that has to take a year before going to college due to medical reasons outside of their control? Specifically, aside from doing as much as possible during that year, is there anything specific that can be done to express interest in continuing education to a college despite not being able to go right away?
Can you apply, and then take a gap year? In schools common data sets, you should be able to see how many years a school can delay admission. Not sure if this would work for your situation, but might be a route worth exploring
@@henrycollins2478 I'll check it out, thank you for the idea! I didn't think of that. (I'll do my best to research on my own; if you could suggest where I might find the "common data sets" you referred to, I think that would be helpful)
@@loricat5606 google “school name common data set” and look under section c18
Bro im a sophmore in high school so i will be the most over prepared senior in 2 years

Thank you so much for Posting this...it's a Blessing....Would you recommend questbridge to apply for low income or common app?
Also, what is some advice to apply to Brown as a Low income student?

Can you make a video about international students
Bro my exams are starting next week can you suggest me a good study technique
Nice
I normally dont comment on videos trust me I am very lazy but god damn is he good what a legend
Thank you! I’ve started applying last month and realized how incredibly difficult it is to figure all this out. Each school is so different! So far I’ve applied to 2/7 schools, and my counselor is already sick of sending my transcript. Because my dual enrollment college classes are taken throughout 3 different colleges, I have to pay another $45 in fees just to send my transcripts to ONE college (not including the ~$50 application fee). Any tips to reduce these fees? I can’t afford to keep applying as of now, as I won’t get paid until next month :(
Ask for fee waivers!
ask for fee waivers and tell your counselor your situation. They can put it in the CommonApp fee waiver additional information so that it is more likely you can get a fee waiver.
Common app fee waivers are the way to go. If you have an admission counsellor then talk to them regarding this. And you'll easily crack this part of the admission process.
haha my brother was saying who is this Gohar Khan guy on Khan Academy he like knows everything! and i was like oh i watch his videos!
Awesome
I will be applying to colleges in 4 years. I feel prepared 😂
Blessed
How did you edit this video?
I live near an Ivy League school btw
Gohar, do you have any basic three tips that you could give an 8th grader who wants to build his career through an Ivy League. Any three tips that would give me a head start.
Don't restrict yourself to ivies man, it's genuinely just a label. Top schools are only made by the people that go there so you could get the same level if not better of an education than you could just going to an ivy. Not to mention if you set your heart on going to an ivy then it will probably be really disappointing if you get rejected when that time comes around. Keep an open mind. It's really good that you're starting to think about it now, but don't get entrenched with stressing over college until late sophomore year. For now, focus on your GPA in high school.
im in my sophomore year of high school rn, AKA in o2, and im literally scared shitless thinking about how im going to have to apply to a college. I hope this video helps me... once i UNDERSTAND what this video even says.
Please one simple question what is research what we have to do in it? Please tell
Can you talking about university of Washington
23:37 scholarships
FAFSA opens in December this year, not October
Who is guidance councelor and is it necessary to have him?
Hi Gohar, I know you had a comp-sci passion project under your wing by the time you're in college. I'm in 10th grade an am interested in starting a similar one (not similar project, similar task). How do I think of an idea? How do I reasonably do something large, but not too massive?
Hey Gohar do you have any resume advice
Gohar, do you edit for yourself or do you have an editor? Which editing software does your editor or you use?😊 Thanks 👍
Cool
I hope I get into mit
Are you applying early?
Can you talking about AVID
After I graduate 🧑🎓 monday may 20 2004 then I might to Stanford university freshman honors programs that I am going
Hey I wanted my essay to be reviewed but u are expensive. Is there any way I could get a shakedown?
Hi, I am from Peru, if I did some projects to improve my commuity during mi time at high school, where could I include them on my application?. Is it OK on the exrtacurricular activities, or Dou you think I should explain them in other part
I wish I would have watched this 20 years ago.
