100% worth it to do it yourself. Dealerships will charge over $100 (Local dealership quote was $130) and Oil Change shops will use the cheapest Oil & Filters they can buy. Quality Fluids, Quality Filters, periodic maintenance, and sensible driving = you can easily expect +250,000 miles from this vehicle. Thank you for this video.
It's a good idea to fill the new filter with oil before installing that way it's already primed when the engine is started. Easy to do in this application where the filter is vertical.
Female here. Did not have to remove any panels to drain oil on my 2019 Accord 2.0 Touring. I did have to use 17mm and not an equivalent. My 2016 Touring was just as easy except this model's filter is closer to front.
Hey. I had a question about filling. Did you put entire jug? I pretty much did. The oil level reader is hard to see but it looks like it’s at the top hash mark. Where does you oil usually sit on indicator? I also use ramps so we’re prob draining the same amount of the pan Thanks!
It does not take the entire jug. You should have some leftover. I filled until it was full according to the oil dip stick. I let the car down, let it run for a couple minutes then settle for a moment before taking my final measurement 👍
I think, on my first oil change coming up, I will very carefully fill it just to the fill mark so I can see if the oil is diluting by its increase. Currently, the factory fill is above the mark from the start, and I can't tell if its increased in the last 5K miles or not.
I just did my oil change today on 2018 accord LX with the oil life at 40% I have a mobile one filter and mobile one advanced fuel economy in it I’ve driven 3100 miles since the last oil change when I drained out the oil it was black ?????? What do you think about valvoline oil ?????
My preference has been the Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic. With that said, I believe that unless you’re placing your car under extreme conditions, ie extreme outdoor temperatures, many miles between oil changes, lots of stop and go traffic, tracking the car, etc, many of the top name reputable brands will work just fine.
This oil isn’t burning off, is it? I used this in my 2009 crv and 2011 bmw and could of sworn it just burned off. I did have a heavy foot, but I’ve never ran into that problem unless I ran this oil .. My conclusion was because its made from natural gas. I’m no expert though.
I have not experienced any oil consumption using this oil with either of my cars 👍. Coincidentally, I just checked the Accord yesterday and the level looks good 😁. With that said, having owned a BMW in the past, they are known to burn oil 🤷♂️
I had a 2014 Accord which also burned Pennzoil. It burned it so bad I would go through a quart every 500 mi. The leading consensus is it was the earth dream GDI engine allowing oil into the upper cylinders where it was burned off. However once I switched from Pennzoil to Quaker State I never had that problem again. So who knows you might be right. But I will never use Pennzoil again, even though according to what I have read the actual Honda OEM oil is Pennzoil Just under a different name. I also ran Pennzoil in my Toyota 4 over 130,000 mi and it never burned a drop and stay perfectly clean.
@@stonehouseguitars3869 yeah, I actually got the pennzoil to give it one last shot. Will do oil change sometime today or this weekend to get factory oil out and will give an update. Pennzoil platinum 0w-20. 2021 accord sport 2.0t. FYI Honda doesn’t use PENNZOIL as factory fill. Ford and Honda uses the same manufacturer/supplier, which is "Phillip 66 lubricant". Honda was using "idemitsu" at one point or could still be using it in different parts of the world. EDIT: if I’m still having issues with pennzoil platinum, I’ll be sticking with Hondas full synthetic oil or see what this mobil 1 hype is about. 😂
@@jppilotadventurez5251 You know what, you're right, I think in my mind I was confusing Yamaha with Honda for some reason. Getting my cars and bikes mixed up lol. In my 2021 2.0 OEM oil I changed at about 8k. I ran Pennzoil in it until 12k. For whatever reason that oil didn't last as long. Then I switched to Quaker State. I'm at 17K now and it still reads 50% oil life. I'm going to be changing it in the next month or so though once the cold weather heads out. I've had really good luck with royal purple in all my other engines these last few years so I'm going to switch to that and run that long-term.
I took my car to Honda fort free oil change twice already and came home with no oil change….. it’s literally ridiculous they hit u wirh the exact same speech….. just change my oil lol
You don’t need to change the oil that soon. Synthetic oil is a higher quality and better grade than conventional oil. They are rated for more miles in between changes because they burn slower and cleaner than traditional oil. I have the same car and change my oil and filter between 8-10,000 miles. I’m a honda tech and been so for 14 years. Hope this helps 👍🏽
I respectfully disagree unless you are only keeping your car for 3 or 4 years and less than 100k or so. If you are a tech, you know those variable timing engines have very tight specs and any dirt in the oil can cause problems. I only wait until 15% because I was stupid and bought the 60 month warranty product that included free changes. My last two Accords was in for a change between 5 and 10k. It really doesn't cost that much in the overall scheme of things and you will likely get 300k or more and of a Honda engine. This is particularly true if you are hot rodding around in Turbo mode running a lot of boost. I'm 60, have had 8 cars that I ran for 150-200k. Always over maintained with regard to oil. 3k conventional, 5k synthetic, never had a single internal engine issue. I could live with 6k in this vehicle, maybe even 8k if you are a gentle, mostly highway kind of driver. JMHO
Yah no, even with newer oils these turbo charged hondas need oil changes atleast every 5k, they run oil thats so thin an with the turbo making excessive amounts of heat, the oil thins out alot quicker.
I had the Continental tires installed within a couple weeks of getting the car. Although the Continental tires I have are an all-season, long-life tire, they are still quieter, and grippier than what came stock (I can't remember what they were). I was easily breaking the stock tires lose on every corner or judicial application of the throttle, not so much with the Continentals.
Hey Chad. Hopefully you can help me out, I was taking off my panels and I realized that from when I was last at my body shop they forgot to replace panel 1, the smaller on by the filter Can you please tell me the part number for this panel or where I could find a replacement.
I'm sorry to hear that... I've had good luck buying Honda OEM parts from hondaautomotiveparts.com, or collegehillshonda.com. Both websites provide the ability to look up the parts, alternatively, you can call them as I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help.
Here's a couple decent ones..amzn.to/3nEuvgB, amzn.to/3GHvMLq amzn.to/3nCl55i I'd look for ramps that are as wide as possible, and if your car is lowered has a less steep incline, but still reaching a fair end height. Hope this helps.

Nice 👍🏼 how many quarts did you actually put in?
Can oil filter is awesome compare to filter elements. 🔥🍻
is there a torque setting for the old drain plug - other cars with crush washers are pretty specific so you don't get any drips
Yes, there usually is a specified torque setting for the oil drain plug. I'll have to go back and look.
Tightening torque: 30 lbf∙ft (40 N∙m, 4.0 kgf∙m
What its the size of thé drain plug please?
can you use an oil suction pump (going in through the fill port or dip stick)?
I wouldn't recommend it
I can do my own with ultra platinum for $60 with factory filter. At dealer synthetic is $125 plus tax.
Nice savings!!!
Where did you get that oil dipstick? Not a OEM one I think! I can't read mine very well.
It is OEM. I agree, the oil dipstick is difficult to read 😕
