      After Bolsheviks sighn peace with the central powers, bunch of Czechoslovak units that were fighting for the entente get stuck in Russia. Since they are traitors to the Austria-Hungary they must leave through the Vladivostok. Some Czechoslovak idiots get in a fight with some Hungarian idiots stuck in a similiar situation. It escalates and the Bolshiviks now see them as enemy. So they take control of the most important railway in Russia loot some gold and fight/retreat their way to the east where they regroup with the intervensionist forces. Realising that they don't want to die, in a losing battle, in conflict in which they have no stakes in, they catpure Kolchak and give him to the Soviets as a piece offering (along with the return of Russian gold), giving them safe passage through the Bolshevik controled territory, allowing them to finally return home.

    • @primkup
      @primkup 2 роки тому +293

      @@nobody4248 More or less. To be more specific:
      1. It wasn't a bunch of Czechoslovak units, but basically the whole army they had at that time.
      2. Bolsheviks wanted them to surrender all weapons on the request of the Germans, as they were originally heading to France during the last German offensive. Their refusal was a main reason for the whole conflict.
      3. Gold was not looted, it was given under their protection. They later on gave it to Kolchak who used it to pay his troops and to buy foreign weapons.
      4. Kolchak wasn't really captured with force or some kind of ambush. After his army broke, he was traveling with the Czechoslovaks together to the east, but they were all surrounded after more of his troops revolted and joined the Reds. Czechoslovaks had to leave him behind with the rest of the gold (and so did Entente, the officer who made the deal was French), to be allowed to leave the country. One way or another, he would die in that encirclement.

    The Russian Civil War was hands down, the most world defining war prior to WW2. Not even WW1 could compare. The World's biggest empire collapsed into hundreds of factions and ideologies. The structure collapsed into one of the most violent and bloodiest civil wars that even the seperatists had their own civil war and the World Powers could not just resist and join the fun.
    You had the Brits in Karelia, French in Crimea, Americans-Canadians in Vladivostok, Finnish Civil War, Polish-Ukrainian War, Italians in Central Siberia, Battle of Lake Baikal that had a LANDLOCK NATION WINS A NAVAL BATTLE, Czechs having their own tomfoolery in the Trans-Siberian Railway, FUCKING ANARCHISTS IN UKRAINE, UKRAINIANS IN AMUR, there was so many events happening all at the same time.
    And it all happened from Russia collapsing. Whoever won would define what Russia would be. A Socialist Bastion? A Monarchist Status Quo? A Republican Nation? A Anarchist Free Territory? So many outcomes and so many consequences.

      I disagree. The only thing that the Russian civil war did was delay the economic growth of Russia. Also, the battle of Lake Tanganyika was a landlocked lake battle fought between the Entente and Germany. WW1 was also MUCH more defining than the Russian civil war because it meant the total collapse of two of Europe's great powers, albeit weak ones. It also set in place the dominoes for a fascist Germany and WW2.

They invested it in their economy and that was part of the enormous check military industral complex that hitler captured when he split up czechoslovakia. 1/3 of the german armys tanks were made there.
      Then when the soviet union desamated hitler a lot of that gold and factories were taken as war reparations.

      @@danilvinyukov2060 Even those who claim that Czechoslovakian legion took the gold say that maximum was around 1/8 of that gold,so you got 7/8 of it back. Yet,no matter how much Russians like to act like victim as much as possible, there is not any evidence at all that we took any part of it. From the start of the civil war,gold was completely counted and guarded by different sides,which owned it through war. When Soviets and Czechoslovakians made an aggrement about free pasage from Russia and exchange of gold, all vagons with gold were counted again by commission formed by people from both sides and they compared it with numbers from the National bank. After this,they all aggred that legionares didn´t stole anything. Myth about stolen gold is mostly repeated by populist websites of doubtful quality with minimal historical knowledge, just wanting to get more readers.

    • @danilvinyukov2060
      @danilvinyukov2060 2 роки тому

      @@tefky7964 You just made a strawman of my case where I told how the gold was stolen, made a claim not backed up by any links that the russians are just looking for a reason to blame others for intervening in their civil wars although both civil wars in russia (1917-1945 and 1991-present) were riddled with interventions of foreign forces.
      And then to finish off you mde the claim that any websites that tell a alternate viewpoint to what you voiced are just populists and have no historical knowledge meaning that even if i try to counter your statement you will just claim I have false data.
      You seem to have you mind set so i doubt this will be effective but here is a point i wanted to make. During the civil war there was no unified "white" union. There was kolchak with his provisional all russian government , denikin with the armed forces of south russia, the north west army led by Yudenich and semyonov in the transbaikal. Each named themselfs the rightfull rulers of russia and if the bolsheviks were destroyed there would have been a lot of fighting between these groups for who deserved to head the government.
      On the rebelions side, apart from the reds led by Lenin and the bolsheviks you had makhno who led the black army of anarchists and the so aclled "green movement" where you essentially had any peasant that tried to protect his land from the reds and the whites.
      Due to this there could not have been a "carefully counted commitioning" of the gold as you claim because there we not two set sides, more of a set of shards controlled by varois groups and with shifting alliances.
      However I will give you that indeed most of the gold was recovered by the reds in exchange for the czechs getting their passage, that is true. However around a third of it still went missing with sources speculating that it was either spent by kolchak in western banks or stolen by the czechs or lies in traincarts at the bottom of a lake.
      So you were right there. However part of iy didend up in czechoslovakia. So my story is not entirely false either.

    Russian schools teach nowadays that although there were many factions, there were only a few major ones. We are not told everything in detail, alas, too much information in the last days of school. In short, everyone was divided into whites, reds and greens. The Whites were for the old order, the Reds for communism, and the Greens were specifically defined as all other groups that had their own goals or even numbers. Everyone had their own vision, even the communists competed with each other. All men fought, and those that did not fight suffered at the hands of those that did, because there was no difference between the groups and their management - all needed manpower and food resources that could only be taken by force during the war. The difference began to appear only after war, when the Communists finally began to industrialize country and bring it out of stagnation, from which the Whites did not want to come out.
    In the end, if Whites had won, Russia would have had to pay back other nations for aid in the form of land and money, and Green victory would have meant a complete split of Russia, so Red victory is considered a bloody but happy ending.

      For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
      John 3:16-21
      16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

      The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
      Hebrews 11:6

Да и нечему удивляться, что они выиграли. Под контролем большевиков изначально были самые развитые и населённый районы страны с самыми развитыми и крупными городами такими как Москва и Санкт-Петербург. Да и то, большевики не смогли все под свой контроль взять. Они полностью потеряли Финляндию и Польшу и прибалтику с западной Украиной на некоторое время
