Yes, backing vocals is just Akane. She has a great voice too. I've heard her sing before this, but it she was just fooling around-not an official video. She sounded great even though she was being silly.
Sayonakidori is the Japanese word for the Nightingale bird.

You really can say it: They are MUCH better as in "Thrill" back then... Many reasons for that: They always improve, they have become really good friends (a lot of chemistry) and they are writing their own songs so they are really comfortable with it. No harm in saying that, that is just the truth. Nice to have you back on Band-Maid, always a pleasure! Greetings from Germany
The other thing I'd add is that "Thrill" is close to, if not the actual, first MV. Released in 2015(?), they've progressed a long way since then.
The little pigeon always makes me grin like a loon! And yes there is a full band version, it is on their last album Unseen World.
For many people , myself included, this was the highlight of the show. How good is Miku now and wonderful back up from Akane.
I have been a fan since January 2017. I have been a Maidiac since l saw them at the Echoplex in LA in 2019. I live a 15 minute stroll away from Aftershock in downtown Sacramento and was hoping Maidiacs might arrange to meet either before or during the show. I also get to see them five days later in San Francisco. Band-Maid is my favorite band of this millennium. Hands down. Looking forward to the show.

I watched this concert so many times that I almost can’t listen to the originals now…I’m anchored in this magical moment!
The reason Miku can reach all those high notes & harmonies with such ease, is because her voice is classed as a 'Mezzo Soprano'.
The live electric version of this song is sensational. Miku re arranged the song for the acoustic session, which really shows her musical prowess.

ease with falsetto in the acoustic, she has to be struggling to hit it in the electric version though without flipping to falsetto. I think it's f5 or g5, which has to be approaching the absolute limit of her range.
You are so right Chief. Miku is so exposed here. When you play acoustic guitar and sing there is nowhere to hide. It's only in moments like these that you realise how much of an accomplished guitarist Miku has become- Open, muted, up-strokes, down-strokes, fast or slow, all used to maximum effect (I sense the hand of Kanami here). I think that if anyone was near the mic during the high section it was Misa. All done in the safe hands of the best rhythm section anywhere at the moment or even in the past in this genre- Misa and Akane. With regard to content- the quiet spoken section near the end of the studio version is a direct quote from Romeo and Juliet and Sayonakidori= Nightingale also a link to shakespars play.

A little pigeon singing a song with the translated title 'Nightingale', huh? An identity crisis? I don't know, but I like it. :)
And I think Miku did it very well, considering that she was so nervous, as she said herself in the part before this video.
From the MV to 'Thrill', where she still wore the guitar as a decoration, to this performance here, indeed shows that Miku as well as the others have not rested and continued to grow.

Sayonakidori translates to "nightingale" and, as far as I know, the lyrics are about Romeo and Juliet. So it is propably about some sort of goodbye, I guess 😉

Saiki has the power and passion in her vocals, but there is something about the more vulnerable and plaintive style of Miku that makes me a little emotional

"Unseen World" was made by a mature band. They aren't interested in proving anything to anybody anymore. They are confidant. They don't need anyone's approval.
You can find the album version of "Sayonakidori" on their channel - ua-cam.com/video/6mVaehjAo2k/v-deo.html and there's a live stream version. "サヨナキドリ" translates to "Nightingale". The album version includes a spoken part - a few lines from act II scene II of "Romeo and Juliet", and "Nightingale" refers to act III scene V where Juliet hears a bird and says it's a nightingale "on yond pomegranate tree." Romeo thinks it is a lark singing because it is almost dawn, and he sees streaks of light in the sky and says "I must be gone and live, or stay and die." Your instincts about the song's topic seems pretty accurate, although it might not be hopeful. Music is the international language; you don't need words when the song is good enough.
Look for their EP to be released on September 21st. I won't be a AfterShock but Dallas on 21 October - Miku's birthday!
Hay Chief nice to see you, I mean all of you now, and you ditched the mask, good for you I hope you feel good and positive about it, now as always Band-Maid doesn't disappoint but this is beautiful, soft and flowing yet it has a underlying strength, just brilliant.

At one point, before Band Maid, Miku was working multiple jobs to pay for her vocal lessons. The continued development of their music has to do with the control they have since "Thrill". You do know that Miku writes all the lyrics? Miku is the driving force and the producer, per MISA!! They are all singers but Akane, Kanami and MISA close not to sing regularly. Oh, Miku took 2nd place in the National Poker tournament in Japan and she was pi$$ed!!!

And I've heard/read from two different users that Kanami has written some rhythm/lead parts for Miku on their newest release due later this year. I don't know if that is true, but I'm excited as all get out if it is true.
And it's only Akane singing the backing vocal, there is no backing track for this performance.
And with music of this caliber, we don't really need to know the lyrics. It's just good music.

Sounds like the comments have said what Sayonakidori translates to. But as a fun fact/side note, the true meaning of sayonara by Japanese definition is goodbye forever, and has been miss-interpreted as a casual sign-off by Westerners. I guess it is considered as rude to use casually, or at least that is what I learned from a Japanese You Tube creator. Which makes sense to me in hind sight historically. If there are people that know first hand, feel free to correct. Thank you for another good reaction.
I’m a native speaker so probably advanced learners can explain it better, but to me sayonara generally feels more formal than ‘bye’. You can use it as a final goodbye, or as a polite (but non final) goodbye.

Chief! I almost scrolled past because I didn't recognize you. Haha. This whole acoustic performance was exceptional. I watched it on Christmas Eve and it made me feel warm and toastt inside. They are so unique. I know people say that a lot of bands can compose their songs into acoustic versions, which is true but not many bands can mix and match members and never lose the essence of the band. Not to mention some of the songs they chose completely caught me off guard
I would love to go to Aftershock but unfortunately...or fortunately I took time off the following week or so to catch them on their US tour. It will be 3 shows in 4 nights and I can't wait!
dude.. i'm so envious of those who are going to aftershock that my blood boils xD the same day as band maid there will be playing another band called "the warning" (for many people the future of rock from this side of the sea) who i highly suggest you to react.. if you like singer-drummers they have an amazing one.. you can watch songs like "narcisista" where she does full vocals but i personally really like "survive" where she alternates vocals with the main singer-guitarist..
that day at Aftershock with both Band-Maid and The Warning is gonna be sweet. I saw the Warning in April and going to see Band-Maid in San Diego, also last show i went to b4 covid was Jinjer. and all 3 will be at Aftershock.

Man... I wish i could see you react to the whole X-mas acoustic concert... there would have to be one "must" though... you would have to know all the songs' original versions so you could be blown away by what they did to them acoustically... I hope you get to experience watching that concert.
