Looks like a nuke powered car from Fallout on the inside. I love it.
This is exactly what I thought.
it certainly does echo the 50's future car but time and time again designers look back for inspiration and they never really sell well
....not sure. The exterior is glamour, the interior is futuristic back to 1950s.too much blinking from my point of view. Could just be the environment and colors that give me this not positive feeling. Will however hold my definitive view at another review

This looks something like Louis Vitton would make. Just replace star symbols with LV sign.
The interior looks like a 70s bowling alley. I was expecting a bowling ball to roll out of that chrome center console. The exterior is perfect.

If you can afford a car like this, you don't care about bills. You just swipe your credit card or have your insurance company pay for all the repairs. This is a Mercedes, not a Dacia. Also... PORTUGAL, CARALHO! :D

Well it's a Mercedes, it's not for us who worry about bills. The CLA is meant for people the 23 year old who just landed their first job with McKinley or something. So they still have money in the bank
All of those 3 pointed stars add up to creating clutter. It looks so forced and terrible.
Perfect car for tacky people who need to have every square cm of their clothes and accessories covered with logos of LV, Supreme or Balenciaga.

The design is great. Especially the proportions and finally a compact electric car. I'm looking forward to the production version.
It's nice to see what Mercedes did in the front grille department. Rather than go with an EV flat slab on front, Mercedes has given the front grille some personality and some depth and dimensionality. Job well done. When you were sitting in the rear seat it was obvious that comfort will be a challenge for someone of your height. The rear seat cushion is too low because your knees were so far upright due to the low seat cushion position rather then the natural square sitting position.
It's interesting that you can see where the production front and rear lightbars will go as there are cut outs for them in the body, but in this concept there is only floating strips in that space.

great to have your support! Loyalty to my audience is so much more important than money and I hope that our programme also shows that. We're also probably the only channel that does little to no advertising in videos (just what UA-cam puts on as standard pre-rolls themselves etc.)

Mercedes had a stunning EQS concept but the production version was a massive let down.
I have a feeling they are going to do the same here.

As a designer, the interior is stunning! The screen fading in the panel is beautiful. This needs to see the light.
Good review of the car, a lot better then American reviewers. Clear, concise and on point, and none of that stupid exaggeration or theatrics, good for you. And glad your taking a stand against leather interiors, something American reviewers won’t do, sadly.

@@TD1237 It almost happened with Obama or Obama came the closest. It will happen one dayAnd if you look at the trends most if not all hyper cars have vegan interiors, because they are lighter. Most "luxury" car brands now have vegan or vegan options on their introductory and middle of the line up cars. It's getting close :)
7:11 As long as there's a physical knob and physical shortcut buttons to control it, I don't mind it at all. Especially if those temperature dials actually rotate to set the temperature, as you mentioned.
With that being said, though, I have to admit that it's a beautiful car as a concept. The "gaming PC thing" looks like a PC cooling system or some sort of CPU cooler.

I really like the exterior architecture. It is seriously the first electric vehicle that has impressed me stylistically. Great get, Thomas!
The VISION EQS looked fantastic as well. The final product though ended up looking like a total turd. The same likely applies for this car as well.
Very interesting review and some interesting aspect. I really like the new vents, and the big screen also looks good, but they need to solve the issue with reflecting screens. In your video, you can also see a lot of reflections in the front screen from all the "chrome". Overall it looks good.

Great concept with fantastic futuristic styling. Loved the steering wheel, the air vents, the display the doors and the dashboard was a piece of art. This concept is exactly what a Mercedes is - a car that makes the owner and occupants feel very special and in the lap of sophisticated luxury.
What I didn't like were the wheels (too many Mercedes stars) and cleaning the interior - it would be a dust/finger print magnet!

In comparison with the BMW - both are amazing concepts and both are winners. Anyone would be on top of the world with either car
BMW should be commended for returning to beautifully styled cars - the current butt-ugly beaver tooth grille should be giving a quick death.
Interior materials make it look like one of those luxury BATHROOMS.
07:42 i hope things like that make into the production vehicles. not enough manufacturers pay attention to the little details like the seatbelts. all use standard cheap black plastic surround on seatbelts with black seatbelts. plenty of ways they could be customised.
MB could be onto something with that little box in the footwell. If that held the chip that makes the electronics run... it would be fairly upgradable. I think future cars will be kept longer but perhaps upgraded inside the way we do with our houses.
that would be a great feature for any car, if possible to upgrade the computing power without taking apart half of the car.
The exterior looks good, the interior looks like a child’s toy.
The dash is really nice. Of course it cant be one piece like in the eqxx due to financial reasons but I think it is still better then the current hyperscreen

I'm getting a lot of VW Scirocco from the front 3 quarter view.
Otherwise not bad looking. Interested to see how much of this makes production.

How to solve the efficiency issues on EVs? I know! Install as many pointless lights on the car inside and out that just consume electricity and do nothing of use. Brilliant. Give me my Nobel prize.
LED lights consume basically nothing. It's heating and cooling which would be the biggest drain.
@@paulklp8262 They still consume something, and they look stupid.
I'm guessing the headlights and taillights will be flush, everything white in the interior while get darker, and 2 inches of ride height will be added. It's a beautiful design.
7:16 They're doing that so that the "poor people" (in quotations; I mean cheaper Mercedes buyers) get all the electrical/software gremlins, so that the "rich people" (S-Class buyers) don't get to be beta testers.

Beat reviews as usual! And finally mercedes figured out how to make the raindrop looking good. The front is brilliant. Idk why, but german car manufacturers need to understand we need the angular designs which as it seems can be achieved even with good aerodynamics
What a wonderful concept car, looks modern and retro at the same time (it has a 50s aura that is lovely). Love it, what a breath of fresh air
I love the exterior but the trunk would be better if it opens like the eqs.
The interior is also beautiful. the openness in the front is nice but maybe nicer if the top part was extended. The head pillows and seatbelts are nice extras. The middle screen was maybe better if it was vertical. Maybe a yoke would be nice.

love the new dash, lot more streamlined than the current big central screen... Also exterior design is so much better than eqe and eqs... Crossing fingers that this design concept does not change much on actual car...

Nice car but what about the full sun exposure? How do you shade the sun roof?
I would love these electric cars to have more hidden storage areas. Beautiful design and engaging to drive but no place to put sunglasses and other personal items. Like you, l love sustainable materials particularly when they are used in creative and design driven ways.Great intro on Mercedes and the BMW !!

@@blue-lu3iznot quite true. Many states require a front plate in the US. It is state by state and about 30 of the 50 require a front plate.

I like the ideas. I am curious what will acutely make it to the production model. I can see most of the outside be sides thew lights and grill. I can see the screen on the dash. I can’t see them implementing that interior. Maybe the colors and patterns. It would be cool if they did though.
May be 5cm more expand bottom for safety and also front bottom spoiler slight lifted and also 3-5 cm larger if batery range is big design is ok if price ok I would only gave inside a airbag suspension for slight lift easy
The problem I see with horizontal front light bars is at night we use the changing width between lights to determine speed and distance. The bar undermines this
Very nice design but I expected more sleek design side mirrors maybe integrated with side lines coming from front, not this mirrors…

Interior reminds me of a 1950's diner with all the metal, chrome and neon-esque lights. Not a bad thing, pretty cool actually.

Insightful for Mercedes to make these designs in both electric and combustible engines. Afterall, aerodynamics dose affect MPG! Won't the excessive lighting negatively affect battery levels!
What a nice concept!!, it has a ton of details, a new era with the traditional CLA line, the interior is like a spaceship very fancy and futuristic, i like a lot the new screen, the air vents and the steering wheel, the seats design too, the interior materials and color combination is perfect.

Some interesting exterior design cues (the interior looks unrealistic, and really lacks innovation). Crazy that it mounts some 21" wheels. This inflation of wheel sizes must stop.

I can see the Mercedes design language on the B pillars and the roof area but I feel that it loses a lot of its identity at the rear. Maybe it's the browline, the shape of the tailights, and the fact that the area under the lights is not seamless with the section below it especially above the crease

Beautifully designed internally and externally
I’d love to know how they build these one offs? how do they find new materials, how do they create all these custom made parts that are so beautiful. Do they have a very comprehensive factory that’s just for this purpose? Do they create models and work with suppliers? That would be super interesting to know because it’s definitely a crazy amount of work, probably dozens or hundreds of people involved, even up to coders and UI/UX designers. And all of these people deserve credits for creating such masterpieces. We always credit small builders for their custom project cars, but when it comes to big brands we assume it’s all easy to create these concept cars, but I’m for them it was such a passion project with a lot of late nights, problem solving, headaches, little wins, internal politics to deal with before this car is there for you to review it.

I like that Thomas is straightforward with his disdain for animal materials in interior design. Many brands have shown, that plant-based and recycled synthetic materials can provide a premium feel and texture. The share of real leather will be irrelevant to the quality perception of car interiors very soon and using it therefor obsolete.

It is great to see the string of short reviews of which this is one - so far I am up as far as the Audi Q8 review this week. Thank you.
I would like to suggest an additional test for Autogefuhl in future reviews to add to the already meticulous list of things checked out. That would be some kind of first guess at how each car would age and look like in 25 years’ time.
I have put this idea under this car review because I think the answer for this Mercedes concept car is mixed. For instance if I were to look at a Mercedes from - say - 1998 (prehistoric?) the one’s we have lying around our business still drive rather well and are good places to be in. I never had one myself, but I still like being driven in them.
The things about this car which I think will last well are its shape and use of interior space. I think the attention paid to recuperation efficiency and hence the 5.x range per kph will still be appreciated in around 2050. The seating should also last, though I am not sure how well the light colours will stand up. What will look very dated is the interior design and I think it will look as about as good as the tail fins on the Studebaker my parents had in about 1961 Madras. The stars and ambient lighting, if they still work at all, will age especially badly.
Not just to hit out at Mercedes, all new cars are going to have a problem with how long the infotainment systems last and indeed whether they work at all in 25 years. USBc, conductive charging, and other recent standards are also going to look as up to date and as useful as the car tape cassette deck. By contrast the humble cigarette lighter in older vehicles today still work and can be used.
Given we are in the age that likes to talk about sustainability and recycling, some view on how our new toys will age seems a good part of further car reviews.

Very beautiful design both inside and out. I hope the exterior design stays as it is. The interior design is super nice with an integrated screen. There is a little too much chrome "look and don't touch" it doesn't work for daily use.
Overall really like the exterior, the interior definitely puts looks far over function however so I hope the actual production vehicle is much more toned down.

Reminds me of retro 60’s “space” style looks amazing but unfortunately the actual car won’t be like this as usual. Not a big fan of the rear end it looks almost to plane or simple but the exterior front end looks so good

I love it and this design is much better than EQE and EQS. Only thing there is an overkill of stars but I’m sure they would probably ditch that for production.
