    Great story I actually worked on those cars. Those were made by company I worked for in California in city of Oxnard. Worked for the company "TransFX" owner is Allen Pike. Good company many movie props and worked with government in aerospace making planes and raydomes. Made many of those cars including all of the cast making them for premiers and Disneyland parades around the world. Many hours went into that car well also my blood sweat but no tears lol. Yep. Every studio protects their IPs. The stories Ive heard of sobbing men having to take a hammer to the molds for some character or creature or prop that they literally just spent the last 2 months making I could not count on all my fingers and toes. A company super would come out and watch them collect every mold, scrap piece, reference, everything, take it out to the dumpsters and destroy it so no one could get sued for stealing intellectual property. Then go through the meeting hall and collect the super secret sauce files and such. Of course some things did fall through some cracks here and there, but they mostly ended up destroyed. But, I mean, this is the shop that made the pieces, and the people that make that kind of stuff all day. A few cases of WED clay, some 'publicly available references', a shit ton of fiberglass and silicone, and boom! A self made part they cant complain about 😉😅

I can't remember if it's still there, but for at least quite a while, one of the cars was a drivable Lightning McQueen tribute car (pretty sure it was a wrap, but no eyes on the windshield for obvious reasons). You should have kept it a secret.
      You had no legal right to own or sell a car that should have been destroyed.
      Hopefully, the Disney/Pixar legal team does not see this video or they can sue you for the sale proceeds that you received for the car ...you did not legally purchase it as the vendor had no legal right to own it.
      You can also be compelled to disclose to whom you sold the car....and then that guy can also turn around and sue you.

    The easier, and possibly the better way would be to get a 3D scan. I've seen it on other YT videos. With that you could make actual moving parts in place of the static ones, all kinds of stuff. Imagine having a large enough 3D printer to print the entire body.

    • @WickedPaint
      @WickedPaint 2 роки тому

      Exactly what I was thinking and then have a copy milled out. Plenty of companies out there with large mills capable of milling the entire body.

    • @jsquared1013
      @jsquared1013 2 роки тому +1

      They probably wouldn't even need to do the entire body, just make molds in sections for the fenders, roof, hood/trunk, and bumpers. Easier to assemble over whatever chassis gets used, more practical to handle the molds/parts, and it'd be easier to repair.
      But even BETTER thing about a 3D scan, is that he could then scale the car down so the fenderwells fit a more "normal" wheel and tire package while keeping the proportions correct. It sounds like it's quite large overall anyway, so it probably wouldn't be that small after being scaled down from 25" wheels to 20" or so.

      Caterpillar tractor in Peoria, Il has a scanner that big. They used to have to call my friend who owned a pattern and mold shop to build developmental parts for them on a chance that they may go to production someday. But Cat is saving a lot of money now by drawning up in the computer and printing it in their own buildings.

It is literrally a brand new unused 76 purpose built 0 mile race car. And I want it to race nostalgia racing in SCCA. He also has another rare car that is museum quality.
