My husband and I watch the Veggie Boys together and both enjoy them tremendously. Happy Homestead, Homesteading with the Zimmermans, Grow and Preserve and ThreeRivers are all on my must watch list. Your photo of your cookbook collection was fabulous. Going to go add to my Amazon book list. Thanks for sharing.
Darla! So good to see you! You're the second person to mention the Zimmermans. I must check them out! So glad I made the must watch list! 😘 I hope you're having a wonderful Summer.
I live by mysef. I am of Polish descent. Some of our dishes are alot of work. So, when I make soup, stews, main meals, I make extra and can the rest. Stuffed cabbage, stuffed peppers, chicken soup, beef mushroom barley soup, dill pickle soup, cabbage soup, fried cabbage to add to noodles and for a side, etc. I have also canned corned beef and cabbage.
Eric & Ariel are fabulous! Becoming a Farm Girl wastes nothing! She has the BEST cinematography in her videos. I love Rachel at That 1870s Homestead. Living Traditions and Justin Rhodes were the first UA-camrs that I subscribed to. Others of my favs include Self-sufficient Me and The Veggie Boys (and girls😀). I subscribe to most of the same channels that you mentioned. I appreciate your channel as well. Thank you for sharing your ideas. I loved the video where you canned the orange and lemon/lime juice, dehydrated the mushrooms and cherry tomatoes and roasted and froze the garlic. What great ideas for saving waste.
Darla, I'm going to answer your dilly beans question here, because, although I can see the question, it's not showing up in a spot I can answer. Sometimes YT is very weird. At 1220 ft, you would add 5 min to the processing time, for a total of 10 min. Hope that helps!
Hi Carter. I always enjoy your videos. This one wasreally helpful. I, too, have a thing about cookbooks. When I cook any new recipe, I make a copy of it ( electronic and paper - never know when the grid will go down). I make notes in the book or on the paper for changes, what I did/didn't like about it, etc. My books have so many sticky notes they strain the covers. The paper copy goes in a binder for quick reference. Thanks again for all the great ideas.
I'm so glad it was helpful, TD! These channels have added so much value to my life, it's impossible not to give back what I can. Thanks for being here!
Hi Carter. I hope by now you have found Charles Dowding’s channel in the UK. Totally not my zone (6A) but a wealth of useful knowledge for all gardeners. Cheers 🎉
I am seeing this late, but I wanted to let you know that I too am a collector of cookbooks. I have a couple that you mentioned. I read them like any other book, but several times over. I never really looked at them as an inspiration to use my canned, freeze dried and preserved foods. Now, I will be intentional when looking for a recipe to use with a preserved food item. Thank you Carter. By the way, I have a Chicken Eggplant Parm recipe that is delicious!
Oh, Carter! Could you be my best friend?!?!? So, tonight, I took the little sprouts of my cauliflower and broccoli plants from my fall garden and made a quick Hollandaise sauce in my VitaMix. Then I cooked a couple of ground meat patties seasoned with Tony's and "wash your sister sauce". What a feast we had. So simple. So delicious. You are an inspiration!
@growandpreserve Worchestershire Sauce. I heard someone call it "wash your sister sauce" once. I thought it was hilarious, so I adopted the saying. Lol.
Hello Carter, Thank you for sharing. Getting inspired is the key to go on with whatever you do. You inspired me with the salsa and chutneys you canned. I have made the mustard and the peach salsa. Next on the program is the peer/ginger chutney. Greetings from the Netherlands
Carter, you inspired me late last Fall to grow lettuce indoors. We have had continuous lettuce available to us whenever we wanted to have a salad (which is often). Our growing set-up has also been used to seed start for our garden. You also have taught me a lot of canning details. Thank you again. You have been an inspiration to me.
I follow many of the channels you mentioned! I would also add neversink farm. His vids that specialize on each veggie from seed starting to harvest are phenomenal. Each one is like a mini documentary. He ends each segment with a lovely meal. Thanks Carter! Kyli
Great, Kim! I love finding new channels, so I'm always excited to introduce folks to one I really love. And thanks for the purchase through the link as well! Always so appreciated. So glad you're here!
Great list!! I watch all but becky. I used to watch her. Sadly, hiding her baby and babys name just rubbed me wrong way.....i didn't know that was Hoss jr, !?!? Love both his and the row by row w/ mrs hoss. Self sufficiently me is a gem!!!!
Becky recently said that she took advice from several other YT'er friends that have children who told her they wish that they had kept their kids off the channel, and now can't undo it. Even when the kids seem willing while young, a few channels have had to rationalize why they no longer show their kids. Like for Cog Hill Farm, their daughter hit puberty and got self conscious... but I have to wonder if viewers just get creepy and the parents are doing what they can. Becky strikes me as a nervous first time mom, so I didn't fault her for that, as awkward as it is sometimes. I have a hard time watching now with her new property. Its not as useful to me to see how someone grows on a huge property as it was when she was kicking butt on just an acre. I'll always watch her freezer meal videos though! And I'm not too proud to admit that I am totally jealous of her kitchen and pantries!
@@karenpage9383 understood. I get keeping children off camera but not even a first name after all the lead up and step by step list she did video on. I watched every video until then but just got bad vibe after her video talking about 'baby A'. Totally agree, no longer relatable. Sadly other channels do same, grow large and don't really interest us backyard gardeners. Thx for your kind response.
@@rschroeder6460 You know, my hubby watches a lot of YT too... wood working and such. He mentioned last night that he gets annoyed when someone he started watching when they first started out gets so successful that they sell their house, build a big, new one with a massive shop, and fill it all with tools from companies that now sponsor him. I guess its the same thing in a different context. I'm sure if we had both come into Becky's channel right now we'd feel different, but having been following her since the beginning, the channel has a different vibe now. And you are totally right that she got us all invested in her pregnancy, so it feels awkward to then get so tight lipped. If I had to guess, she got more feedback than she wanted about some of her pregnancy and delivery fears. I know I saw one telling her that she needed to grow up cause she shouldn't be a mother if she was going to act so childishly. I know when I was pregnant many moons ago, I got so much unsolicited advice from friends, family, and complete strangers... I can't imagine what content creators have to put up with! @@karenpage9383 totally agree. I do understand channels evolving but I think many don't realize why so many started watching in first place. Hi there Carter, what a great video and of course I watched to the end 😂. I follow most of the UA-cam channels and have always loved reading cookbooks. You are great at finding inspiration and then actually making the recipes with your substitutions. You give me courage! ❤
Check out Purposeful Pantry for dehydrating. Awesome! Suttons Daze is all about canning, food storage, pantry stocking. She's awesome! I've learned so much from these 2 ladies, I actually started canning and dehydrating at age 75. I'm loving it. Looking at the Presto electric canner, the big 23 quart is just too heavy. We'll see... Found your channel and now I'm hooked on premade meals in a jar.
Hey Carter!!! I love your channel, very inspiring!!! I really love how you have created your pantry....I really love your nail polish, would you please share the name of the color/brand...I love red, but most of the reds are too bright...thx
Thanks, Betty! I agree that most reds are too bright. I had them done at the nail salon a couple weeks ago. I'll have to get the name/brand for you next week. Email me toward the end of this coming week as a reminder. carter@growandpreserve.com
I enjoyed your video. You find inspiration in much the same way I do. I'm making a year's worth of salsa today! I have gone vegan in the past year and have been on an adventure to find delicious ways to convert favorites to vegan dishes.
Thanks, Nancy! A year's worth of salsa! That's an exciting day. You might really enjoy the Love and Lemons cookbook. So many divine veggie and grain recipes. So happy to have you here!
Thank you for sharing your inspirational accounts with us. I, too follow several and truly share your appreciation! A few of your cookbooks are new to me so it’s time for me to hit the library 😉Thank you for being so generous and genuine with us, Carter. You’re a gem in my book.
Excellent video. Bought a new book because of it. ❤ Oh edited to add. Please do a kombucha video. I just started back after about a five year hiatus and my kombucha is definitely lack luster. Also, taco videos. I love tacos but only can ever think of normal basic growing up tacos. I know yours are fabulous. And I guess I thought you were in Atlanta for some reason but you said Tennessee. I’m in Tennessee not far from the fall creek falls area. Hi neighbor. Lol
Thanks so much, Mel! I'll put kombucha and more tacos on the list. (David thanks you for both of those!) We moved to TN 2 years ago today! Best move ever. I'm closer to Nashville, but we're not far apart at all!
@@Mel-vu9ss Reading through the comments, saw this and had to comment! I'm in the NW area of Georgia... Canton/Waleska/Cartersville area. I feel like the universe might be trying to tell me something!
Thank you for this video with so many good resources. I follow several of the channels you link, but I can’t let this opportunity pass without saying some thing about your style and personality has me canning. I appreciate you😎. I loved when you brought out a cheat sheet on waterbath canning showing the Ph levels. I told myself I'd download that later and of course, I didn't. Would you be so kind to include in a future video please? Thank you for all the tips and links!

I want to thank you for the raw packed potatoes and carrots. I have never eaten water canned potatoes or carrots that I liked. They are just nasty. Would sweet potatoes be ok to raw can?
Glad you like the potatoes! A couple of folks here have tried sweet potatoes this way. The ones who have gotten back to me have reported that the final product is not worth doing. I slice my sweet potatoes, then roast, flash freeze and vacuum seal for the freezer. It’s the best I’ve been able to do with them. Hope that helps!

Thank you, TrueGApeach! Always so glad to see you here!
Excellent video. Bought a new book because of it. ❤
Oh edited to add.
@@growandpreserve tell David he’s welcome. Lol. We moved to this house last summer. Came from Georgia also but NW area. Best move for us as well.
@@Mel-vu9ss Reading through the comments, saw this and had to comment! I'm in the NW area of Georgia... Canton/Waleska/Cartersville area. Y'all, my hubby and I keep talking about how ATL keeps creeping further north and that its time we start looking at where to go next. We're only an hour from TN already. I feel like the universe might be trying to tell me something!
Thank you for this video with so many good resources. I follow several of the channels you link, but I can’t let this opportunity pass without saying some thing about your style and personality has me canning. I appreciate you😎. I especially love the cookbook suggestions. I have clicked on & ordered a couple books recently that I’ve seen you speak of and use in videos but I’m not sure it has linked the purchases to your account💚
Carol! Thank you so much! That means everything. And thanks for the link purchases as well. I don't have any way to track specific purchases, but if you click through any of my Amazon links and purchase something within 24 hours, it should give me the credit for it. You are so sweet for wondering about whether or not I'm getting credit! 😘
I loved when you brought out a cheat sheet on waterbath canning showing the Ph levels. I told myself I'd download that later and of course, I didn't. Would you be so kind to include in a future video please? Thank you for all the tips and links!
You're welcome, Norma! Here's the chart: Clemson pH chart I use: www.clemson.edu/extension/food/food2market/documents/ph_of_common_foods.pdf It's in the pineapple salsa video. Thanks for being here!
@@growandpreserve Thx so much!
Hi Carter, you are the first channel I found sadly I don't know any of the other channels you mentioned, but excited to check them out.
Hey, Lisa! I'm so glad you found me! How exciting for you to now have all these great channels to explore!
Carter, I really really enjoy watching you, I've learned a lot. I'm so glad you are the one I found first. I used to own my own catering company; until recently a few years ago I fell and badly broke my neck. I just started getting back to being me, when I found you. Thank you for just being you. Recipes come easy, I dream recipes in my sleep wake up and make the meal that I dreamt.
@@unltdSheep62 Oh, Lisa! I'm so sorry you had such a horrible fall. But I'm so glad you're getting back to being you. Now I want to dream about recipes!
Thanks for the list of your inspirational UA-camrs.
Do you have any interest in Freeze drying?
Very much interested, but not in the budget at the moment. Do you freeze dry?
@@growandpreserve no. I saw a channel that freezes dried her ground beef and thought of you. I bought a second hand dehydrator so I’m going to try that first.
@@cassandras1688 Got it. Heidi, at Rain Country, dehydrates her ground beef, if you're looking for a guide on that. Good to have you here, Cassandra!
I love Eric and Ariel! I would love to go stay with him for about a week and then come home and rest. Ha ha.
Right?! Aren't they the best?
Have you checked out RuthAnn Zimmerman? I learn so much from her too! “Homesteading with the Zimmerman’s”
Yes, I've since found her.
Thanks

What a wonderful presentation Cater! ♥
I watch or have watched 99% of the channels you mentioned. I'm going to check out Huw. Mark at Self Sufficient Me is awesome. Must listen carefully for his subtle puns. :)
I love growing, harvesting, preserving and cookbooks. BUT, sadly I don't enjoy cooking. Love the end result, so I cook and I'm good at it. Sometimes it causes me too much anxiety, don't know why, but it just does. Canned meats have been a game changer here in our home.
Thanks, Vicki! You will enjoy Huw! I wish you loved cooking! Canned meats are absolutely a game changer. Who doesn't want to start in the middle of a recipe and be done in half the time or less!? I would do a lot less cooking without them, even though I love to cook! Always so good to see you here, Vicki!
