I do think that the listener can be completely absorbed listening to this. I know 'Iam . I also know that people forget as in latin music . The drums are also featured as other soloists are. In the singer song writer or trubadour tradtion from from folk to pop , this type of approach, from a once American popular music, strikes as different as sweet from sour. Since in those cases the drums are strictly accompaniment . Jazz the truth is a uniquely American art form and the drumset . Created here in this country. Lets listen and be swept away by the great plot lines and master work as grand as any other classical music. For me and for millions of fans worldwide over his 50 yr pro history across generation , Buddy's statements are only sweet .
Sounds like you like this as much as I do!
One of the best solos from Buddy on film, ever. Excellent sound too....
So glad you like this as much as I do.
Totally agree!
That's funny because i thought the opposite. GREAT playing as always but the camera ANGLES sucked.
@@cloudview747 Could you perhaps let us know your top few filmed solos of Buddy’s? Thank you.
@@marcgregoryneville Do you mean, my favorites of all the Buddy drum solo videos that I personally have posted?
Sweetttttt! My goodness, I really miss his drumming! Semper Fi
Me too!
WHO IS GOING TO TOUCH THIS? The best OF ALL TIME!!
😊
The best of the best. A serious badass in every way. Totally dominates Jazz drummimg
He Inspired Neil Peart so much. Both greats!!! RIP Buddy and Neil.
Inspired Neil, and countless other drummers also. Rightfully so. Buddy was truly a master.
Neil played stiff as a board face it he was great w rush but take him out rush and he wasn't all that phenomenal maybe it's me I'm lucky I came out gifted so maybe my standards are higher or my ears are maybe better than many I just never understood the wholempeart craze he was almost boring and that terrible playing he did on the buddy tribute stuff should havebstayedmin the can notice how it's evennjard to get now..it simply wasntnthat good sorry I meannyep he was great w rush hands down their best find and a great writer... nuff said
@@cloudview747 how right u are
Rich admired Neil Peart, he said it in an interview and also liked, the drummer from " Chicago" My drum friend and teacher is a journeyman drummer, played with Elvis and years back he would meet up with Buddy and Belson as they did their gigs. Buddy once gave my friend a cymbal. He must have liked his playing. Buddy was a good -hearted man.
@@kirkwatstien6979 Everything you said was wrong. Have a nice day.
Mind-blowing sensational....for all æternity.....BRAVO from Acapulco!
Man, listen to that kit!
The greatest. His left hand snare work is legendary!
Oh how right you are!
Unusual camera angles on this one! The most amazing feature of his playing for me has always been the number of compelling "phonemes" he can generate on the spot to engage the ear. His soloing is so RICH!
Booked him and his band of youngster in the 80s. Amazing performance for a 60+ guy.
No doubt. Amazing what that man did throughout his 60s.
Just groovy man ...... Buddy was something else.
Indeed he was, very special.
I'm blown away. 3 decades ahead of his time. Wow! Traps the drum wonder! Hail the King!
I can't tell you how pleased I am to read your comment!
cloudview747 1940's NYC baby! But my name is Shawn. I'm a 30 years now drummer. I live in Cleveland,Ohio. Always loved The jazz greats.
I grew up in the Cleveland area. Did you know Buddy played his last concert at Orange High School on December 10, 1986? My father was at that concert!
cloudview747 No I didn't know that. I know he was hurtin' bad. Played drums w/ back disc issues; not to mention of course his multiple heart problems. It's the old saying amongst the jazz greats: 'This music can swing ya into bad health'. But he pulled it off. nonstop touring all the way to 76 years old. Most guys quit much sooner or take longer breaks.
