    Deer Valley, Utah is known as one of the most luxurious and elite ski resorts in the Western United States, with miles of terrain, an Olympic park and some of the best snow around. In the summer, Deer Valley transitions into a mountain bike park with 70 miles of trails leading back down to the lift. If you like to pedal and explore, you’ll be happy to know you can also access over 400 miles of other singletrack in the mountains above Park City and Deer Valley.
    But how does it stack up as a bike park? We reviewed the riding, food, amenities, and everything else to see if Deer Valley Bike Park is worth the visit.

    Stumbled across this review but stoked you guys made it! We'll be bringing out 1st Outerbike of 2020 to Deer Valley/ Park City this June 19-21 and are stoked to offer another new venue to our guests. Many people will want to access the XC trails off the lift so that interconnectivity was certainly a part in choosing Deer Valley. June is often the best month too - before things get too dry or bumped out. Cheers!

      dude deer valley sucks. its like a 6/10 bike park. the black jump line is average at best and its $450 for a season pass. the double black DH trails are ok but they were built before modern bikes existed so they are super super tight with very few high speed sections

    Please ride Angel Fire in New Mexico, I live in SoCal.....see no reason to go ride Whistler, closer, cheaper, mellower vibe, caters to whatever you want to ride, forest service has no say to what the place builds; its private property. Plus Taos has amazing food and it's only 30 minutes from the resort. Rode there more this season than Big Bear!

      Adam, thanks a lot for the tip. Angel Fire is on our list of places to hit and we're hoping to get out there this fall for some later season riding! Always stoked to find great places to ride.

    Yo, LoamWolf (or others) - I'm heading to SLC this summer --2023!! Working on tyring to decide which lift served resort to purchase a summer pass inside... There's so many nearby!
    This video was shot in 2019 it appears... That means - 3 more years of DV updating trails, yes?
    or no?
    Any locals with the KNOW? Is DV the spot, or is there another, better bang for the buck, lift served mtb resort?

    Ironic you didn't mention "Undertow". A very fun flow trail (no jumps) that is well built. Personally, one of my favorites for flow.

    Deer Valleys bike park has gone down hill over the past few years. They don’t maintain the flow trails much at all. The faces of the jumps are full of rocks and it’s pretty sketchy. You can tell these guys aren’t too stoked on the trails.

    Thanks for the Deer Valley review today! Looks like your bike tour is set but if for any reason a park does not play out or you need one more place to go, 100% opposite of Deer Valley, Grand Targhee is a no brainer! You can stay in the hotel right at the lift, no lines, great beer and awesome $10 burgers in town. You practically have the WHOLE mountain to yourself. Night life depends on what exactly is happening on the mountain on that specific day, otherwise there is none, but the mountain makes up for it ten fold. With the explosion of ebikes, can you comment if the bike park is ebike friendly??
    Great videos and reviews!

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  5 років тому

      Thanks a lot for the reply and question. What we've found from many of the parks so far is that since the resorts are on Natl Forest land (or similar entities) many of them are offering "Guided" ebike rides. Basically you have to pay to have someone approved by USFS take you out and ride your ebike or a rental ebike. We are hopeful that the USFS will come around sooner than later based on some rumors we hear.

      @@TheLoamWolf With more searching I found this on MTBR.com dated 06/17/2019 forums.mtbr.com/e-bikes/ebike-friendly-resorts-1105891.html ....It looks like Santa’s village/Skypark, Mammoth, Mount Shasta, California; Mount Snow, Vermont; Highland Mountain Bike Park, New Hampshire; both Steamboat and Purgatory, Colorado; and Bentonville, Arkansas, are all eBike friendly. There is eight, I hope the list keeps growing with added knowledge about the bikes.

    You gave Big Bear a combined total higher than Deer Valley? Curious to see what your scores for Whistler will be

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  5 років тому

      Hey Steve, we don't just base our total scores on the trails at the parks themselves but on the total experience. The affordability, off-mountain activities, lodging and free camping options at Snow Summit really did a lot to help bring the park's overall rating up. If we were just comparing the trails A to B, then we'd give Deer Valley the nod purely based on elevation, miles and scenery. Thanks again and we appreciate you making us think a bit... Season 1 is certainly going to have some kinks and we want to give the most honest and thoughtful scores we can.
      We've been stressing on the Whistler score all summer long to be honest. haha. There's a lot to consider.

      @@TheLoamWolf pretty wack to do it that way. if you go somewhere for a bike trip its all about the trails. save the amenities for the tourists

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  3 роки тому

      @@thesquirrel082190 Pretty wack to assume everyone who goes on a vacation is like you only cares about the trails...it's why mountain bike tourism is a huge industry.
      We've had emails, and comments from TONS of happy people who actually thank us for showing them the all encompassing experience places have to offer as it helped them plan a family vacation or a couple's group trip. In fact a family of 4 just used this video for their trip to Deer Valley 2 weeks ago and wrote us to thank us about it.
      Hard to see where you'd think having more information about a place is worse than having less.

    Their bike park would be so much better if they actually did maintenance on the trials. It would be nice if they tried to reduce the bomb holes in the berms or the teeth chattering brake bumps

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  5 років тому +1

      Yeah it definitely could use a few line changes to reduce the causation of braking bumps. We agree some grade reversal techniques and other changes could reduce these issues, but it seems like it's a dry park overall and the dirt itself presents some challenges.

    Best part of deer valley is no snowboards in the winter. You will get spoiled by perfectly groomed snow with no deep scars from snowboards. Bummer they don’t have a park anymore. They are also known for their food, lodging and customer service. Drew, you were born after 92?
