Hi big pharma is going down. Many of the drugs are filled with ingredients to do more harm than good. Soon the whole medical system will be removed and holistic natural ways of healing are coming. As for Keto diet the reduction of junk food and processed foods brings people restoration of health. The carnivore diet works well too. On carnivore people mostly eat meat eggs bacon food sh and seafood and people lose weight regain health and I can personally say that after being on carnivore for almost a year health weight loss and a more peaceful mentality help me have great peace. I wish you peace health and happiness.

It's not an "abuse of power" for government to say it's not going to pay for a research project. Government does this all the time, particularly with NASA and defense research. Government priorities change. Budgets get reviewed and new things get prioritized. This study was being funded by the state of Maryland and they said they didn't want to pay for it. Maybe they're trimming budgets to find money to fix the bridge in Baltimore that got destroyed by a ship a few months ago.

Maddening! I'm day 88 of carnivore, In ketosis since early March and I've seen more benefits in 4 mths than 20 yrs of other treatments. I started an Agoraphobia July Challenge, to go out every day for July. I'm a housebound agoraphobic. I can't remember the last time I left me home every day, but it's been around 15 yrs. This would have been impossible to even think about before carnivore. I will shout from the roof tops about what's happening to me. People are suffering. I suffered for 20 yrs and they shut down a study! Disgraceful

this is 100% true. When I went on a Keto diet, I stopped needing big pharma almost entirely. I've had the same 200 count bottle of Advil since 2020. I take a dose maybe 2x a year.

My mom was on anti-psychotics from before I was born. She used to do the Atkins diet from time to time and seemed to do really well on it. My brother committed suicide when he developed symptoms. God bless this lady for her work. 🙏

There is nothing that upsets the nutritional science establishment more than low carb. They have an almost religious opposition to it. That and saturated fat. Stick with the DASH diet of you want funding. It won't work, but you will have funding.
What’s sad is that as an MD anesthesiologist I do anesthesia for ECTs (electroconvulsant therapy) all the time for treatment resistant patients and dislike it very much. But these patients have no other options. This seems so promising. I wish this health board could see these patients and witness what they have to go through when a dietary change coukd help them remarkably.

My 60 year old cousin recently passed away after nearly 40 years of intractable schizophrenia, with the last 20 years in a total care facility. To open new doors of treatment is so important. I’ve been ketogenic for over 2 years for metabolic reasons, but my well drug-controlled epilepsy, caused by massive brain bleed during surgery has now dramatically improved on much lower dosing! I can’t afford to monitor glucose, nor ketones, so studies supporting the obvious brain effects of ketosis may have offered me benefits to monitor myself closely.
I am very upset that this supportive study was shut down!
As a psychiatrist and researcher myself I must say that it's very unfortunate that the study was put on hold / shut down. It's hard to get funding from NIH (CIHR in Canada). Private funding should be fine - pharma companies are sponsoring studies left and right. Also, the use of the ketogenic diet seems to be on a safer side of research and there are a lot of studies showing that it's relatively safe in general. Hope you get your green light.
The problem is that this trial could adversely affect Pharma revenues …. and the medical system COULDNT allow that.

I’m a survivor of psychiatric medications They were started for preventive migraine treatment when I started peri menopause. What a disaster. I never thought I’d be anti-medication. I’m a retired RN. These meds should only be used in extreme cases not given out like candy to the average person going through a hard time in life.
What did they give you?
Amatriptaline? Elavil? Remeron?
@@rdallas81 I took amitriptyline for about 5 years in my 30s. I actually had the best success with it but I had no sex drive at all so I chose to discontinue it. It took me about 3 years to sleep properly again. I was taking 50mg. With perimenopause in my 40s, the headaches got much worse and were diagnosed as chronic and my mom was diagnosed with ALS. They had me try Cipralex, Zoloft, Effexor, and Fetzima. I’m in Canada so some of the names might be different. Also there was trazadone for sleep, nortriptyline top ups to the SSRI or SNRI. And my favourites the gabapentin and topiramate. There was maxeran and stemitil for my nausea. I was on something called pizotifen which is an seratonin antagonist. I was desperate to get back to work and I wanted to avoid opioids or other pain meds. I ended up with a benzo dependency and opioid addiction. I asked to see a psychiatrist because I was having hypomanic episodes. They saw me for 10 minutes and said I had BPD or Bipolar. Happy ending though because I’m off everything but gabapentin. I’m waiting for my hot flashes to improve to start weening off that. I want to tell my story but I have to wait for my brain to recover a bit more.

They just prioritise Industrial Interests ahead of the Interests of those with mental health conditions . Big Pharma could lose money if more Patients do keto instead of anti-psychotics etc for schizophrenia .The good news is that keto does improve mental health symptoms and Loren Herrera Scott is not needed .I know because I taught myself how to do a keto diet since 2,022 ,and it does work.

Even though I’m an advocate for ketogenic modalities for mental health and cohost a podcast about it, I have people in my circle who don’t believe in this modality. Nevertheless, I pushed past my comfort zone and asked some of these people to sign the petition and explained why, and I’m happy to say some of them, surprised me in a wonderful way! Sorry to hear the Massachusetts Health Department made this ruling. I am so weary of state agencies overstepping their authority and acting as antagonists to the citizens' interests. Thank you for your video and mentioning the petition. I just signed the petition. I didn't know much about the issue. As for using Keto diet for treating sounds like a good treat for schizophrenia. I have been on keto myself and even as a regular person it has helped me lose weight heal my body. Now I am on carnivore diet for almost a year and have lost weight an improving my health even more. I have enough experience with both keto and carnivore are very good for health weight loss and even promoting peace and tranquility. Changes are coming soon to the world then I believe future funding for the novel idea for helping people get these benefits. Please do not give up . Puzzle solved: a quick Google search reveals that Scott was a vice president at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which is a health insurance company. No surprise that she wouldn't want her previous employer to lose money. It's a clear conflict of interest for her to be in charge of approving research. Psych meds are expensive! I was on one medication that cost $800/month.

A pure Carnivore diet has had amazing benefits when it comes to many mental illnesses, especially depression and anxiety. I am eating this way after a lifetime of battling depression and anxiety and have had amazing health benefits. Prescription drugs for over a decade did nothing to help me... the way to go is Carnivore eating... do some research and see what people say.

I think its important to know so you can make more of a informed decision to sign.

The reason probably has something to do with legal liability and control. How likely is it that inpatients with schizophrenia can give informed consent? If it turns out that a particular subject can't give informed consent, who can be held liable?
That would make sense if they also shut down the federally funded drug trial. But they didn't. So, are patients more able to consent to a drug than a diet intervention? And does the funding source influence consent? That seems incredibly unfair and frustrating.
@metabolicmind You're right that it doesn't at all, at least not on its face. But it may have a big effect on who can be held liable and to what extent.
Also, the criteria for inclusion of subjects could be significantly different in some legally material respect; only someone who really knows these regulations and examines all the documents could spot any differences that may exist between government funded and privately funded studies.
You can't escape the fact that private funding serves different interests, depending on who is doing the funding and why.
Who gave informed consent for the safe and effective and who is liable for the safe and effective not being so safe and effective as advertised.

I remember when… I remember when …I actually lost my mind! 🎼🎶🎵🥁 😳 I realized something was very wrong with my mind when I had psychosis. I understood the condition was permanent but I still desperately wanted out.
I realized that if I got into an argument with someone about truth the hallucinations would go off into the background. Then after the argument they slowly returned. So I thought, “What if I just ignore the hallucinations and delusions?” and that’s what I did so they lost their power over me. They went away and never came back. That was in 1985 and it’s almost 2025… 40 years ago! I will also be fully retired in 2025.
It is not only those with mental illnesses who would benefit from dietary changes. Diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancer, arthritis and other inflammatory issues all seem to benefit from dietary changes. Beginner's course: Eliminate processed foods (all packaged foods in the grocery store that come with a hefty ingredient list), deli meats, seed oils, takeout food, alcohol, sugar and artificial sweeteners. Eat quality protein i.e. meat and eggs, vegetables and fruit, limit carbohydrates that spike blood sugar. Do your own research. There is plenty of information available online and in books available on this subject. Some of the information is provided by medical doctors and former pharmaceutical industry insiders who got tired of pushing pills only to see people get sicker.

This rhymes with so many other decisions over the past 40 years. The covid response was particularly corrupt and nonsensical. What I used to believe was ignorance among high standing public health officials I now understand as selfish intent.
