    Dan, first, I enjoy your channel and live to ride attitude. Than you for that. A couple questions. I bought my bike about a month after you in San Antonio also. How many miles do you have now? And what do you use for navigation REVER? Do you like it. I seem to have a lot of problems with it and always resort back to Waze. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Again.

      Hey Michael, congratulations on the GS! I hope the dealer took care of you! As of right now, I have just over 7,000 miles. Most of my miles came from riding out west. As of late, I haven't used Rever. For me, Rever was best at creating custom routes on my computer for pavement rides and using the app on my phone for turn-by-turn. That way, I always took the road I had intended to. Riding out west, I used Google Maps and Gaia though. I purchased a Garmin XT2 about 2 months ago and have been using that on my smaller dual sport I love that I can control my music and take calls from it. I plan to use it on the GS, but before that, I used Gaia on my smartphone to follow custom routes and tracks because
      I found Rever didn't always know unpaved roads. I ran into issues using Rever where it thought the road ended or that it didn't know about a bridge that linked the road together so it made building routes offroad a little trickier so that's why I use Gaia. I do still have a subscription to Rever, and now, with the temps coming down, I do plan on riding using Rever on the GS for street rides. What works best for me is to use it to create custom routes on my computer of mainly paved roads. That way, I can get turn-by-turn directions over my headset and follow the exact route that I want to take and not have some other apps reroute me. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    I’m guilty of “doing that lane thingy” So all is forgiven should you feel the need to split traffic😂😂. Motorcycle riding saves lives😂 no really it does. Keep living the dream. Nice video and thanks for the ride. Ps. The GSA’s comfort and stock amenities rivals my full on tourers, I would never consider a regular GS.

      Haha lane splitting is hard to beat that's for sure, and you're right, motorcycling definitely saves lives! After long days in the saddle on my AT my legs would cramp and ache so I'm with you on the comfort. Thanks for checking out the video. Ride safe and take care!

    I prefer the GSA over the GS for the larger cowling! The oversized gas tank is a plus too! 25F in AK so watching videos!

      The extra protection you get from the GSA makes a huge difference when riding in not so great weather. I do love the range we get as well! Enjoy beautiful Alaska! My wife and I can't wait to go back!

    If turn signals are made to indicate your intentions for turning, how are they used to indicate your intentions for lane splitting? I have nothing against lane splitting or lane filtering, just trying to understand how states that are legally lane splitting and filtering to properly use turn signals. I have seen some motorcyclists use hazards while splitting, but my bike does not have hazards. Here in Oklahoma it is still illegal to lane split or filter. Apparently if there was an accident while lane splitting or filtering, it would be more complicated to find who is at fault.
    Take care Dan, ride safe.

    • @dantheman4life
      @dantheman4life  11 місяців тому +1

      I don't know how they handle turn signals while lane-splitting. I personally only used them when I was changing from lane to lane. Cali is a lot different because they have been lane-splitting for years and have a population that is accustomed to it. Thanks for checking out the video. Ride safe!

      @@dantheman4life Maybe one day my state will have lane splitting/filtering, but until then, I just need to find less congested traffic to get around.

    Great video. Not a fan of lane splitting when they don’t have a lane for you. I get the idea of it, but with 98% of the people on their phones, it’s unsafe. Just my own opinion. But yeah, that scenery is amazing!

    • @dantheman4life
      @dantheman4life  11 місяців тому

      I understand where you are coming from. I was a little worried myself, but after seeing how other bigger bikes handle it, I felt alright after a while. San Francisco seemed to have narrower lanes, but in other parts of CA, I didn't have a problem. I appreciate you checking out the video, the scenery was amazing!

    I’m planning a trip to Vegas from LA , I’m looking to rent a GS. How do I check the laws for the different states . What’s the protocol if I’m stopped by a cop . Get off on stay on the bike , speed limits etc.

    • @dantheman4life
      @dantheman4life  Рік тому +2

      Congratulations on the upcoming trip! I would check out google to find out all the specifics as far as the laws go. I can tell you generally most folks are cruising at least 5-10 miles an hour over the speed limit on the interstates. If you plan to lane filter I would try to do it near the HOV lanes in Cali because it most likley has the most room for you and a car. If you are stopped by a cop just remember to stay calm and no sudden movements. I personally would stay on the bike with my hands in sight and follow the commands of the officer. I'm sure you won't have a problem though. Have fun on the trip and be safe!
