    Hi Anrjis! Which onde would you advise would be better for neotraditional color work? I would need something that handles fat lines and fine lines the same way as well as colour packing.

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo

      Both will be good. I don't do large lines much , so I cannot suggest which one will be better. FK irons will be closer to other rotary machines, if that's what you're used to, but in my opinion performance is equally good.

      hey, I don't have that machine myself, I cannot make a review. if I will ever get it, then I will. But I don't think I will be looking to buy one of them myself - I think that machine is large and weird shape with many tiny details on the body of it, what can be hard to properly clean. With these 2 I feel that not much can be better.

    I like sol nova unlimited flux is okay but I don’t use it as much as sol nova but one machine I regret buying is injekta x1 it’s to heavy it’s awkward and I sold it after three months either one of this is great if your a realism artist buy the 3.5 sol nova if you do a lot of color work lot of lines go with flux

      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  3 роки тому

      hehe.. I've only seen photos of it online, and it does look massive and uncomfortable to use.. I wasn't sure on weight, but I wouldn't be looking to get one myself. Yeah I agree, both of these are awesome, and I got 3.5 Sol nova unlimited too , what I prefer much more.

  • @SoulInkStudioPolgasowita

    I love my fk iron xion and it was my daily driver till I got the sol nova unlimited.
    My work became super fast with it. And it does less trauma to the skin. Love doing lines on the responsive mode. Does less damage. And battery 🔋 is a huge plus. It’s so cheap you can pack a few batteries. Super easy to change the battery as well.
    FK iron talk and hype so much, I expected more from them. When it’s come to battery, it’s a huge minus for them. I don’t think people actually care about the readings on the power supply. Bluetooth mode could be an advantage when connected with the foot pedal, then the life time of the motor could get higher since it’s not gonna run continuously. But it’s not released yet.
    Definitely choose Sol nova unlimited over flux .

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment. Yeah. agree , sol nova is better choice for now.
      I don't care about bluetooth etc, but I know there's many tattooers who will like that and care about readings / Hz / voltage etc..
      and yes, like you say - especially with pedal would be cool!
      Hopefully will be here sometime soon.
      Will just see what they come up with next.

    Please,Anrijs, I need some help! I want faster consistent lines as I can pull with my coils. My options are Unlimited 4.0, Dan Kubin sidewinder v3R and Lithuanian Irons'Buffalo. I already have Unlimited 3.5 and is great for shading but average on lines and packing colour. I must say I lean towards traditional and neotraditional work. Each of these options has it's own advantage - Cheyenne's wirelessness and cartridge system, DK's lining like a coil and Buffalo's affordable price. Can I pull solid fast lines with the 4.0, let's say 14RL single pass?

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  3 роки тому +2

      hey. I haven't heard anything about Lithuanian irons, but it does look good. and it says 4.5 Stroke, what would be good. but I don't know how it works.
      I don't think there will be crazy difference between Unlimited 3,5 or 4mm.. 4 will be little better for lines, but not mind-blowing, pretty much same machine. I do prefer 3.5mm for my work. I don't do 14 RL and it's hard to tell if it would work much better.
      I would say best will be standard needles for that.
      Dan Kubin will always win for lines I think, but price is large..
      Can get 2 or even 3 different Lithuanian irons for the same price, what I personally think is better then 1 Kubin.
      like you say, all machines have their own advantages.

    I do love cheyenne products even with such a weak costumer support. I've been tattoing with the cheyenne thunder for a while now, and I still love it very much. For an experient artist, I believe Sol Nova is a better machine with a better motor in general. It is really precise and consistent! The responsive mode is awesome for shading if you learn how to use it, and the voltage mechanism is super pratical if you experient enough to use your voltage without looking where precisely it is. Cheyenne all the way!

    • @aceartdepot6198

      There’s nothing practical about how u change the voltage on the unlimited that feature is plan out stupid well to me that is I don’t wanna sit there and angle my machine to get the voltage I desire I rather just hit a button that is way quicker and way more accurate
      And dude idk if your trying to say experience or experiment but i definitely never heard of experient wth does that mean lmao

      @@aceartdepot6198 yeah, haters on moving! lol First of all, english is not my native language, it's only natural I make some mistakes. I'm pretty sure you can't even say the word stupid in my language, so with that being said I guess I'm doing a pretty good job. ;) If you can't use your voltage whithout looking at the numbers, or whithout stopping your job to adjust it, it's where experience comes in. ;) Being able to change the voltage whithout using another hand and to do it on the fly, I pretty sure I can call it pratical.

      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  3 роки тому +2

      @@bullsheeptattoo Yeah, I agree , that voltage adjustment is nothing to worry about. and if you are experienced it shouldn't be an issue. not sure which machine motor is better, but Yes, Cheyenne products are always consistent , simple and without anything unnecessary. I’ve also used both,, if u already like Cheyenne go with the nova, if U have never used a Cheyenne machine go with the flux.. the flux feels like a higher end regular machine, the nova has its own thing goin on, work comes out fine. But it slows me waaay down idk why, cuz everyone else says it speeds them up

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  3 роки тому +1

      Thankyou !
      yeah. agree that Flux is more standard type feel. I don't know even how to explain Sol nova type machines. I've used all of them and they are all their own category.. I think it's due to how motor type and how it's working.
      I think when I first started used wireless it slowed me down little as it was so new and I was taking more time to get used to it.
      Now I don't think it affects me , probably made me little faster. I think I'm also little faster with Sol Nova. but speed is nothing really, I never rush, it's not a race, if something takes longer, it's cool too! Most important quality.

  • @Texas_TactiCoat
    @Texas_TactiCoat 3 роки тому

    I think the reason for the price difference for the Flux and Sol Nova are due to the difference in manufacturing cost. Fk had to spend more in order to have a proprietary battery that you can't just get anywhere, while Cheyenne saved on cost with their simpler battery and was able to put most of production cost towards the motor and shell itself. Hence the $200-300 price difference. But what do i know.

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  3 роки тому

      Without extra battery Flux is actually about $50 cheaper then Sol nova.
      But It's about $150 difference if getting flux with extra battery.
      , so that extra battery costs around $200. With it you get all the readouts , usb fast charge, bluetooth (if you even need it) and all the other stuff what's coming in the future.
      But if you need to change battery , It's a huge price if you compare it to Sol nova - $10 battery.
      My guess in the future they could be releasing different type of wireless machines, what you still can use it with that pack . so eventually you can get just body of machine, and switch this motor between them.
      and once all those apps hardware will be out, it will be pretty cool!

    Thank you for the review. My issue with most of the pen type machine, wireless its the warranty . All are one year. Compared with the coils, price/longevity you can not compare it.. its like immortal coils:). so I hope they can step up their game with the longevity, its what we are doing with the tattoos .

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  Рік тому

      I can see why that can seem an issue.
      Most electronics have warranty also 1 year. I think it's reasonable for a professional tattoo machine, as it can pay for it, and earn money back for it many many times in the first year.
      Less reasonable it's for example - TV , Phone , Fridge , Cameras , Washing machine etc.. as those utilities can cost same as tattoo machine and will not make any $ back for the user in most of the cases.
      in my own experience machines last much longer then a year if it's looked after and not dropped.
      and also it's long hours of usage in that year time.
      I do agree that coils can last much much longer and can be adjusted/fixed and looked after. All depends on preferences.

      Same like for example - NO returns/refunds . but the law you can still get refund/return item if you're ordering things online. no matter what the company says. So it might be same too. (but again I'm not sure, it doesn't seem too much of an issue to me to examine all the possibilities)

Coils are unmatched works of handmade art period and really the big question is actually what are you gonna leave behind for your grand kids. A box full of pen rotary crap. Or sick ass coil machines. Anything over 400 for a pen double battery setup is outrageous. Not to mention these things are massive biohazards you can’t properly use sterilants on them.

      Most modern electronics and highest quality products are also made in China.
      I'm not planning to leave machines to my grandkids really, but I do have coils too, so nothing to worry about there.
      About prices - NO ONE is forcing you to buy them. Almost like anything else in this world, you have a choice to where to spend your $. So no drama there either.
      And for sterilisation - you can sterilise most of the rotary machines much much better then any coils ever be + there's also fully autoclavable body machines.

These sterilants are not designed and don’t operate like that at all. Then you add grease to the equation… it’s just all bad man and it’s pretty whack how they are presented and the price they are slapped with. With all your experience I just expected to hear something different. Not trying to hurt your feelings just another opinion. 🍻

      @@bdee1084 it's not really that obvious. saying what it sick ass and what is crap and what my grandkids will inherit. Like you said it's your opinion - so nothing obvious there for me. (maybe for you it is)
      I believe you can clean any pen machine much much better then any coils if the ink spits back in the tube and all around amateur bar and coils / wires / bolts / o rings etc... (what always happens)
      YES , some artists are dumb and do not properly steralise / Autoclave any their equipment. Those same artists also will not care about their coils and they all will be filthy too. That doesn't make pen/rotary machines bad/crap.
      Ofcourse professional licensed (tested) and approved equipment will be more expensive. And it also can be overpriced.
      But so what? like I said - you don't need to buy it.
      For example - original Nike/adidas running shoes also can cost - $300+
      And if professional runner will review their new shoes in youtube - you can also go and comment that it's over prices crap, and that you can buy knockoffs on eBay for 3rd the price and that you expect them to also do that.
      To me it just doesn't make sense... and it does sound more like hate than pointing out the obvious.
      (of course this is also my opinion, and no feelings are hurt here)

    Anyone ever have a battery leak acid and destroy your favorite piece of electronic equipment? One downside people don’t consider is that putting a raw battery directly in your machine is a risk. If that battery for whatever reason decides to take a shit and leak corrosive acid, it’s over. 1,000 dollars out the window. At least with the battery packs, if the battery takes a shit it’s still inside of an entirely different vessel and more than likely will have no affect on your machine. Little scary for me.

      Hey. that's a good point. Everyone had some battery leaks for sure.
      In my personal experience it ussualy happens when batteries are left inside somewhere for long period of time, and with cheaper brand battery. those more likely to leak. Especially with remote controls, some Christmas lights , toys etc.. But even then it happens rare, it also takes longer time to leak and damage the electronics , not going to happen in few hours..
      And also after that leak , everything still works, apart from battery itself.
      I've been working with head torch for 5-6 years now, charging batteries 2 times a day, and nothing has ever leaked. I even collect my old batteries, to get them properly disposed later. in all that pile nothing has leaked. (I think that's cause they are all good brand batteries, not the cheap ones , however I'm sure they can be damaged too, just in my experience it hasn't)
      if that's the only downside, I personally think it wouldn't happen if the machine is in daily use, as you will notice anything straight away. every time you need to change battery. IF machine is left in for storage for a year, possibly it can happen, but I'm sure it ways in manual not to leave battery inside machine for storage. (I could be wrong about it)

    I was just getting into tattooing then quickly got out of the industry, it is all politics, basically if you don't get an apprenticeship in a shop you'll always be considered a scratcher or kitchen magician. I literally got screamed at, threatened and taunted by numerous artist because I don't want to work for someone els in a shop to clean their floors for 3 years first, Absolutely ridiculous 🙄 bunch of bullies and assholes, they ruin the art with all the bs politics. As long as you learn all the proper techniques and especially understanding how to be extremely sanitary, clean, and professional and you actually have a talent for it what's the dam problem ?

      million dollar question that. and there will be million different answers to it too.
      MANY top artists today didn't had a proper studio apprenticeship. But is that the right way? I personally don't think so.
      I also started at home and also had lot of shit about it in the early days. Now I understand that the problem was me, not the industry. Luckily I did eventually got (helper/apprenticeship) space in the studio where I busted my ass and worked hard to be able to learn and be there. For me that was never an issue.
      But I wouldn't advice anyone to start from home. as I know it was nightmare for me.
      I guess it all depends on studios / artists personal preferences , dedication / devotion etc.. there's no right way and answer for everyone.
      Good luck in your journey and Hopefully you will find some good space or industry - where everyone will be treating you the way you would like.
