Absolutely.... we really do need more 40+ UA-cam channels. To be honest, I have no idea why there aren’t more? And thank you for the great review! My favorite under eye concealer is by No 7, I’ve never owned the YSL but I’ve heard others say it’s a dupe!
I need to try the No 7! If I had to guess why there aren't more 40+ UA-camrs, I'd guess it's the technology hurdle. The 40's range is probably half grown up with technology and half without so much, and older is even more hit or miss. So it would be reliant on people adopting technology at an older age, which I suppose is less likely than if it's been omnipresent since birth. I'm 44 and my dad had computers in the house since I was little. He let me start writing computer programs when I was 10 - but that was very unusual compared to my friends, none of whom had computers at home. We only had 1 computer for the entire school to use in my grammar school. So I think part of it is just unfamiliarity with the technology required to do it. I think a lot of people might feel able to tackle the camera part, but the video editing is uncharted territory.
I greatly appreciate NON problematic and non dramatic beauty youtubers, I GREATLY appreciate beauty youtubers who are also not 20 year olds with skin that will literally look flawless no matter what (seriously....I'm 39, my skin can be problematic), your channel is incredibly enjoyable and refreshing. Can I say it's "down to earth" beauty?
Thanks, Rebekah! :) I like to keep things as happy and drama-free as possible. There's plenty of drama in our lives... makeup is my escape from all that!
please do an updated version of this video with all the new concealers that have come out and you have tried!! love your recommendations and want to see if anything has changed!!
I purchased the Tarte Shape tape because of the great reviews but it definitely didn’t work for my 46 year old dry under eyes. My favorite is the Mabeline age rewind and it’s affordable. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day
Meme's Sweet T When Tarte Shape Tape first came out I thought I was the only person that just hated it. I have noticed recently that many people are now agreeing that is just too dry. I feel vindicated. Lol
This was so much fun Shelly collaborating with you! Loved your picks and I cant believe Ive never tried the Josie Maran, but I will now! Thanks for your kind words.🤗
So much fun! I think the only reason I've ever thought it would be cool to become a larger channel is so that I could have meet-ups and hang out with everybody!!!!! :-D
I'm so glad that you said that said that we need more 40+ creators on UA-cam, BECAUSE, I've been slowly collecting my equipment, and I'm just waiting on my new brand camera to arrive, and them I'm jumping on in, FINALLY! I'm so excited to join you! I agree with so many of your picks. Some I haven't tried yet, but will. I would add Too Faced Born This Way to my list; Very high coverage, and, very moisturizing. Thanks for the recommendations, Shelly!
Yesssss woohoooo!!! Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions as you get set up! It can be hard to figure out the logistics of some of the peripheral stuff like how the UA-cam ad revenue works, the various link revenue sharing options, Amazon associates, etc. Jessica Braun had a really good video last year about some of that stuff. The Too Faced BTW would definitely be in my top 10 - I just wish their "very fair" shade wasn't so dark! I've been swatching concealers for new concealer review videos and it's as dark as some brands' "light" shades!
I cannot, for the life of me, find a good BTW concealer shade, even in the recently expanded range! I am very fair with cool undertones (NW10) and every shade was either too dark or too yellow, as most TF base products tend to be. The newest fair shades are also too dark, they're more light than fair, but they went too far the other way and are almost salmon colored! I can't win with TF and I'm so disappointed that I can't wear that concealer since it sounds perfect for me
I have dry and the creasing will form every time under my eyes... I love the Tarte Shapetape so I was adamant to find help so I could continue to wear it...as long as I put an under eye moisturizer (IT Cosmetics secret sauce) letting that dry down and applying the Smashbox original primer (tapping it with my ring finger) over top has made it to where it won’t crease! 🙌🏼
Do you have videos showing how ypu applied these? I can't ever get the make up revolution or the age rewind to work . It looks caked on and dried no matter how little I use. Thanks for sharing this. Huge fan of all of your videos! #GOOWFAN! LOL
Hi Melissa! Here's one where I use Age Rewind both as under eye concealer and to spot conceal. ua-cam.com/video/rUwYzEeNx9A/v-deo.html I apply all of my concealers pretty much the same way (and I've got a series starting next week of concealer reviews where you'll see me apply lots of them!) - I make a few dabs or a swipe of product, then blend it out, usually with either a damp sponge or a concealer brush. Occasionally I'll use my fingertips. I let the concealer set a minute or two then tap out any excess that may have accumulated in lines, then if I'm going to set it, I set my face first and use whatever is left on the brush to lightly set the concealer. Or I skip setting it if it's a concealer that stays put on me without setting. There are some concealers that just don't work on me even though everybody else loves them. It may just end up that way with these for you :-/
I've also never been able to get the Age Rewind to work for me. It's such a thin consistency that just immediately settles into every fine line I have, and those I didn't know I have. I also can't find a decent color match as the lightest is way too yellow and the next one is almost too dark. The MUR Conceal and Define, however, I love. I also use Shape Tape but do not think they are at all similar. The MUR one blends easily, doesn't settle and has a solid high medium coverage. My favorite part is that shade C1 is perfectly neutral and is pretty much a spot on match for my skintone.
@@goow For serious coverage or a big event, I rely on Lancome Effacernes as it matches my neutral skin tone perfectly. For every day, I have switched to the Benefit Boing hydrating concealer in the lipstick type tube.
It's smoothing to a degree that really shocked me from a drugstore concealer! It's pricey at full price but there are always sales and BOGOs to help with the price. I need to stop being surprised at great drugstore products because they've come so far that in a lot of cases, they rival or exceed their high end counterparts.
I can’t wait to try it now that CG is cruelty-free! 🎉 My favorite concealer of all-time was a cover girl + olay pot concealer that they discontinued about 15 years ago lol
This looks great!! The new Tower 28 concealer is interesting and a good one to try. I was also trying to see if you ever reviewed the neutrogena hydroboost concealer stick which has been around forever but I did not see one. I started a retinal eye cream recently and my under eyes are going through an uglies patch but I am also travelling with liquid limitations. I have been auditioning concealers and the hydroboost stick may be the best thing I can rely on right now.
Tilbury is my jam! I didn't even know Josie had a concealer. Thanks for letting me know about Kathy- I LOVE makeup history and she ends with Toodles- That warms my heart because my Grandma said that so much it is on her grave marker! I am going to binge watch her over this holiday weekend- she's awesome! You still take my top spot though- such a great honest channel here for us makeup geeks!
My absolute favorite concealer is the Maybelline Fit Me. It does it all for me. No dryness and I don't have to set it. I don't love the Charlotte Tilbury. I'll have to try it again but I remember it feeling really thick. The Bare Minerals Serum Concealer is good, too but looks a little drier than the Fit Me.
I love Kathy A!! I’ve been following her for years and I esp love her docututorials, she’s so much fun esp when she imitates Charlotte tilbury, 😂 love her!! I’ve also won a giveaway from her !!! She’s fantastic!!!
Yes I love her doctutorials on her channel I’ve been following her for a few years and I love her!! She does fantastic giveaways as well, I won one and I was shocked lol but yes love her channel
Rockin' collaboration Shelly! I am currently on my 2nd tube of the Charlotte Tilbury concealer. That stuff is divine. I too wish it were a smidge lighter. I get carried away @ times & apply it all over my face. No foundation needed lol!😄😄
I totally wear it as no-foundation makeup!!! Wayne Goss had a video a while back with a no-foundation look using concealer instead and I do that with the CT and it is awesome.
Very fun, a collab! TY for this. I hv kinda given up on concealers, just can't find one I love. I've been using the Dior foundation under my eyes as of late, I like it & w/ setting powder I'm going w/ it. Buttt I'm thinking of trying that CoverGirl. Guess I haven't really given up. ;)
LOL even when I have a favorite, there's some part of me that thinks someday, somehow, someone is going to make a product that's even better! And I must try them all until I find the best. 😂Clearly I've been brainwashed by consumerism!
My fave for my dry undereye is still the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye. I also like the Bare Minerals Bareporo 16 hour Full Coverage concealer stick- it really smooths & lasts 16 hrs. I shall have to try the CT concealer! Great video, Shelly!
I tried so hard with the IT Bye Bye! It travels around on me and settles into my lines like nobody's business. I've always half wondered if I got a dud.
Hey Shelly, tiny minor thing but I just ordered Julep from your link but it was only $8, not $30. I checked around and the $8 seems right. So just FYI 😁!! I’d love to try Dior but exhausting the cheapo options first!
Yes, love details, and love comparisons, favorites, long wear tests, and best of especially. Will check her out also. Your passion and expertise nerdyness is a great asset! “Buck foot”..hahaha ! Thanks so much again!! Have a great weekend Shelly!
Hello Shelly! I’m on a carnivore diet. Specifically because I make oxalate stones like a quarry. It’s been a year. Every 4-6 weeks my body purges the oxalate’s. My eyes are the worst! The only one I use during those times is the it cosmetics with a mix of Nars creamy concealer. Love the Maybelline. Your skin looks amazing love! I’m gonna have to try the Charlotte Tillberry. Thanks for your reviews!
Just recently purchased Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away and I totally get the hype/love behind it. It really is...that good:) I do prefer it applied with a concealer brush before going in with a Sponge to tap/blend everything out. I hated the sponge tip applicator, it caused fresh concealer to mix with previous dry/thickened product and altered the formula/application. Had to Remove the sponge from Age Rewind for the same reason....it would really dry out and get gloopy.
I too dislike the sponges on the ends of the concealers! I've never been brave enough to try removing them! I bought a backup of my Charlotte Tilbury and go figure, I have yet to find where it ended up after I moved! I fear it's in with my office supplies, which are still buried in a box, because the last time I remember seeing it was on my desk at the old place :-D My current tube in this video is just about empty!
Tear troughs! :) Whew!! $18 for a drugstore concealer?!! BUT you had me the moment you said "smoothing" - now I've got to get it Thanks for another great and helpful video!
Definitely wait for a sale (because at that price it's the same as some high end concealers!) but doggone, it's smoothing. Light coverage but so smooth!
My favorite things in life: Books, History, Computers and Makeup Videos. A video about the History of Makeup that I can watch on my Computer? OMG I've died and gone to heaven!!
Hey Shelly :) I'm a 25 year old cat mom who shares a similar skin tone and type to you & love your channel- unlike so many other youtubers in the beauty community I love how you delve into the science behind ingredients (I'm a geek, too) and I actually have learned so much from you. Thanks for recommending Kathy's channel, I'm going to check her out after this
Hey AJ!! I knew when I started this that I couldn't be the only one out there geeking out to the how's and why's of all of this! Somehow it does not surprise me that so many of us are cat moms, too 💜🐯
I’m 48 with dry skin and my top concealers are Benefit Boing hydrating concealer, It Cosmetics bye bye under eye, Charlotte Tilbury and Urban Decay Naked Skin 😊 the Maybelline creases on me
I haven't tried the Benefit! UD Naked Skin was one of my first favorite concealers. I haven't used it in a couple years - I should revisit it and see if it would still make my top list! I have the Bye Bye from IT but whatever I do, it moves around like crazy on me and settles into my lines.
Geek Out of Water I use literally one drop of jojoba oil and rub it on the tips of my pointer fingers to warm it up then gently tap it on to my under eyes before a concealer like Naked Skin or Radiant Creamy and it’s like magic. With It Cosmetics you literally need the tiniest amount
I saw all the maybelline in my dollar general last week in the smaller sizes for 8$!! They have a lot of new drug store stuff that wasn't there before so everybody needs to take a look!!! This is a great video and thanks for letting us know about her we need more of this💟💟💟💟
Hi Sweetie! I don't watch Game of Thrones either.. My kids think I'm crazy. I can't imaging having a channel and a full time job. I work 40-50 hours a week, and I'm too TIRED to even think about having a channel of my own... I need to relax. That's why I watch yours! xo Now I'll go check out Kathy!
Most people think I'm crazy for finding all of this relaxing, but I do! I love organizing and planning things, so I can dig in and plan out videos and organize makeup and plan out purchases and track new releases... then the filming part and the comments are like actually hanging out with all of you! The editing is probably the least fun part but it gets me to the fun part, so it's OK! :-D
I agree we need more mature UA-camrs thank you for all you do working full-time and still having time for us I think my favorite part of this video was Buck foot that is awesome I got the biggest laugh out of that keep up the good work
I've had dark circles a long time. I used to use the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser based on recommendations everywhere. It NEVER did anything for me though. My dark circles were still quite visible. I've never heard a bad word about it though so I thought it must be me. When I went cruelty free, I eventually settled on the Wet n Wild PhotoFocus concealer and it has better coverage for me, plus it doesn't crease on me and I don't set it. I had to set the Maybelline and it creased bad on me. the Wet n Wild doesn't completely erase my dark circles but they do look much better.
Yes I’ll definitely check out your friend’s video. Also. I use Maybelline age rewind but you make the Charlotte Tilbury sound so good. One day I’ll have to treat myself. Great video
Thanks so much for taking the time to do your channel! 😊 I have yet to find a concealer that doesn’t age my under eye area. I use MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter in Bright Forecast instead of concealer and it covers my dark circles beautifully. I may give the Charlotte T a try.
Hi Shelly- thank you for this video. I've tried so many concealers and haven't really been happy with any of them. I want to try the Charlotte Tilbury and I also want to try the Maskara makeup line. 😊. Lily
Hi Lily! I've easily got 2 dozen different concealers here and still only 1 true #1 favorite (the Charlotte Tilbury). It can be tough to find a good concealer! The under eye area is super finicky!
Over from Kathy’s Channel and so enjoyed this video! I have subscribed. I’ll be one of your very mature viewers! Can’t wait to see what’s to come... 😉👍🏻👍🏻😍🤗
Welcome, Mary! If you have any requests for foundation or concealer reviews, let me know! Here's a link to my master spreadsheet of foundations (ranked best to worst, and searchable): geekoutofwater.com/foundation-fest/
You and Kathy are 2 of my 5 favs here! I trust you ladies totally. And as always, I am still struggling with concealers. I'm searching the charlotte tilbery on ebay for an affordable price!!
I love her brand documentaries! I’ve seen all of them. In fact, I stopped purchasing Revlon for almost a year because of their less than reputable beginning. I broke eventually, but I appreciate so much the work she puts into her channel! Edit: I knew you were going to make me buy a high end concealer!! I love all of your drugstore picks, they are my favorites as well, so I know I’ll like your high end pick. On Beautylish now...damn you! 😉
😂Beautylish is one of the most dangerous places on the web for me! Even worse than Sephora because somehow I just feel like Beautylish has these great humans on the other end and it's all so personalized. Not that Sephora isn't but Sephora just feels like retail. Beautylish feels like they're talking straight to ME with their email promos, and their packaging is so hand-made, and money just falls out of my wallet at their feet. Let me know which one you got and how you like it!! :-D
I am going to have to try some of these! I'm been using one by LA Girl which is nice but I haaaaattteeeee the packaging/applicator. It's the kind of attached brush applicator where you have to squeeze it to get product out and I invariably end up squeezing out too much and it gets all gunky on the brush and dries on there and ARGH! lol
Those are my least favorite applicators of all time!! I have never mastered them. I'm testing a lash serum with that same applicator and I make a mess of it every night.
I'm pre-filming reviews for the 7 weeks I'll be traveling and just reviewed it today (but that video won't post until July!) Spoiler alert, it wore well but is a bit drying on me. Definitely worth trying at this price point!
It’s funny how little Shape Tape concealer is mentioned anymore. Used to be I could hardly watch a makeup video without hearing about it. Then the hype died and more and more people admitted it was awfully drying. By the way, I love history (my dissertation was a historical study and it was fascinating to do). I’ve enjoyed Kathy Aay’s brand mini documentaries!
The Shape Tape Hype lasted longer than most! I feel like it was THE concealer for a good year. But nothing has really replaced it in the hype machine. It makes me wonder how long is acceptably long to wait for these people that sweet-talk anything they receive in PR to avoid being kicked off of a brand's PR list. Apparently for Shape Tape, it was a year!
I would totally jump on the bandwagon as a youtuber but I just don't have much knowledge anymore. I've been out of the game for a long time and you and Zabrena have been such a blessing to me! Between you and your dry skin products you use and her eye looks are very similar to how I've always worn mine and she has great dupe videos, too. I've jokingly said you've cost me so much money but in reality you've actually saved me a ton if we're being really honest. I love my Makeup Revolution foundation stick, now I'm going to buy the concealer (you've twisted my arm) & might be my holy grail. I just ordered the BECCA face palette in colab with Khloe K and the 2 lipsticks of Malika's. The face palette felt so buttery in store. Do have any BECCA products? I'm hoping they wear well. If not, at least I got them 40% off today. Thanks for the review. You really help me out so much and you guys are so under appreciated. I will definitely check Kathy out. I'm a huge fan of GOT but I didn't get that palette. It was sold out. :(
Hi Kimberly! I don't have much by BECCA (no particular reason why not! Haven't gotten around to it, I guess!) Gotta love a good sale, especially for trying new things!
Love the makeup Revolution concealer. So much more so than the shape tape. Haven't tried Josie's yet. You are not the only person on the planet who doesn't watch GOT. I've never seen 1 episode. I'll definitely have to try the Covergirl concealer! Thanks, Shelly. I so appreciate this video! 👏👏💓
People are always shocked that I don't watch GOT because I also am into medieval video games and things that would be similar to GOT. I just never started watching it, and then the more I heard about it, the more I was annoyed by it lol! So I kind of decided not to watch just to be a contrarian! 😂
Yay! I love concealer videos! I keep saying I'm going to film one. Alas, that hasn't happened yet. I keep saying I need to test more (basically an excuse to buy more concealers..Ha!) But soon I think I will buckle down and film one, because you and I have some differences. I too like the Josie Maran concealer and the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. But I think that's where our similarities stop. How on Earth do you keep the Charlotte Tilbury concealer from settling in your fine lines or separating?? I bought 2 different shades, because I want to love it. But it's not playing nicely with my undereyes😫. Maybe because I stopped using my Tight Eye? I need to give that a second chance. I love watching your videos. You get my makeup engine revving....that sounded weird 🤔. But you catch my drift, right? 😁
LOL totally catch your drift! My engine nemesis right now (as in, she makes me want and then buy so many things that my wallet hates me!) is Mel Thompson 😂I don't do anything special with the CT. I apply it pretty liberally and blend it out. Let that sit while I'm doing the rest of my base. Then before I start my eye makeup, I go back with a damp sponge and tap out the excess product. Giving it a little while to move where it's going to move lets me get off any that might have settled. Then if I'm going to set with powder, I do so at that point (though with the CT I don't have to). I used to do a full powder set but that tends to make my undereye look dry. So now I set my face and whatever is left on the brush gets tapped over my concealer and that's it.
I'll try that. I typically go in right away with powder being careful not to move my face (I barely breathe)...impossible 😄. Your method sounds good. I'll try it👍🏽
Shelly, thank you for this video. You are speaking to me to a tee! I have the Makeup Revolution and Maybelline and I even use them as eyeshadow primers. I am itching to try the Charlotte Tilbury concealer. I will be buying that next when I use up what I have. Do you find that if you don’t set the undereye, you’ll get transfer from the upper lashes? It invariably happens every. single. time! Maybe it’s because it’s moist from the concealer and that’s the problem. I’ve tried so many different mascaras too. Oh well, there are worse problems in the world, right? I’m off my soapbox now. That rant felt great! 😂
I don't notice concealer setting as impacting my mascara on the lower lashes, but I think it's because on both eyes my center lower lashes are just freaky long and they touch my face under my eyes no matter what. I'm about 6 wears in right now trying the Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening mascara on my lower lashes, and I'll be darned if it does not transfer AT ALL! I still can't believe it but once I'm convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt, I expect it to be in my next favorites :-D
Geek Out of Water yep. they can fill it. i’m kind of chicken though since it’s so close to the eyes. i use the dr brandt no more baggage and it is a good temporary fix for my issue.
We also need more channels like yours that offer curated content, active engagement with viewers and are drama free! I wanted to love the CT concealer but #1 is too yellow and #2 is too dark. I've loved the Nars RCC in Chantilly for years but have been reaching for the CoverFX Power Play lately. Great coverage and doesn't settle into lines but is not as hydrating as I'd like so I just add a bit more of the Belif Eye Bomb during prep and it's perfect over that!
I've had the Belif Eye Bomb on my wish list for ages! I need to just buy it. I'm trying to work through some other eye creams before I buy another one, and I know as soon as I buy the Belif I'll stop using everything else 😂
@@goow I can almost guarantee you'll love it, especially since you already love the Moisture Bomb. The Eye Bomb is expensive but you need so little of it that it will last forever. I bought my current jar in mid March and it still looks full over 2 months later. The one thing to mention is if you use too much, it can cause little breakouts which I think is because it's so heavy. That being said, my concealer has never looked better, which is why I bought the full size after using a sample that a Sephora cashier tossed in my bag.
I enjoy Kathy’s channel and have gotten some good recommendations from her in the past. Thanks for the recommendations, I can always use more concealer help. I never watched GOT either, and since the fans are so upset with the last season, I think it’s just as well lol.
Hi Shelly I REALLY have a hard time with concealers, I actually have never found a good one for me. Maybe because Im 50, IDK but I have reconciled myself to the fact that I just can't use them. I hydrate my under eyes properly every day, but to no avail with the concealer.
Darcey have you ever tried using an eye brightener concealer instead? I mentioned this somewhere else in these comments, but I love the no 7 radiant concealer. Super light weight and doesn’t settle (on me, at least). Becca also has a really nice under eye primer that can help you get concealers to work better
If you haven't tried the Becca under eye primer, it's awesome. The people that reviewed it and didn't like it, saying it didn't do anything, clearly didn't have mature under eyes!

Shape Tape is very drying on me and so is the Makeup Revolution, unfortunately. Milani released a bunch of new makeup in the last month or 2 including a newer and better concealer formula. It's in a plastic tube with a doefoot applicator instead of that icky sponge and comes in 18 shades. I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and love it! It's very hydrating and it doesn't crease or look crepey like the old formula.
I've been thinking of making a Milani order because my local stores have not been updating their stock, and I've seen them put out a bunch of new stuff! I think I will do that :)
@@goow If you go to the Milani website, the product page for the concealer shows what undertone each shade has making it almost impossible to screw up and get the wrong shade. :-D
Lol, I've never watched Game of Thrones either! I love the Maybelline (good thing too, as it's the only one I have!). Going to check Kathy's video now 🙂
Hi Shelly! Not a fan a GOT actually I have never seen the show. Thanks for the video. Please clarify... For us with dry skin is it better setting spray or setting powder (I don't like powder and I have never tried a setting spray). Cheers!
Hi Zuly! These days, if I can skip the powder under my eyes, I will, as it tends to suck the moisture right out of my under eyes. I usually set my face with powder so if my concealer seems to be moving around a bit (and therefore indicating it needs to be set), after I set my face I'll tap whatever is left on the brush under my eyes and that is enough. I tend to do setting spray when my powder and foundation need a little help meshing together (like if the powder looks too powdery on top of the foundation), or if I want to add a bit of a dewy look to it. (I don't use mattifying setting sprays because they dry my skin out). I'd say a hydrating or dewy setting spray is less likely to try out your skin than powder, but there are some nice non-drying powders out there (I've been enjoying the Pacifica translucent powder lately, or my two holy grails are the Laura Geller Balance & Brighten or Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish). And for setting sprays it's best to check the ingredients because any that have denatured alcohol or SD alcohol high up in the list will likely be drying. Ones with glycerin near the top or the -yl alcohols will tend to be more moisturizing.
Great picks! I’ve been wanting to try Julep’s concealer, as well as CT’s. Lately I’ve been using Too Faced but want something that has a little less coverage to match my summer sheer/light foundations. Thanks for the suggestions, loveee🍃🌸. I’m going to check out Kathy’s video. I’m not familiar with her, but she sounds fabulous:)

Ah so Ivory I will stick with then, even if its a little dark. Its half empty, my C2 in MR is almost slap empty. Just got the Elf ones in today and did swatches already, I'm stoked. Btw, I sent you a dm on IG.

I just LOVED this video! I am currently using First Aid Beauty’s Hello FAB Bendy Avocado Concealer. Have you ever used it? If so, what do you think of it? (I’m wondering how it compares to your recommendations. Thanks! 😘😘😘
I was SO bummed that the avocado concealer didn't work for me! I tried it every which way. On paper it sounds like it should be perfect for me! I'm going to try it again when it's less dry out and see if that had anything to do with it.
I like to apply my concealer after my foundation but I don't think either way is really better. Just personal preference :) Sometimes when I'm doing a foundation that's new to me, I want to see how much coverage it has and how the undertone looks on me so I can choose my concealer accordingly.
I use the Urban Decay sharpener - Grindhouse I think it's called? The little purple double-barrel sharpener. Nothing special really. I don't refrigerate them or anything.
I can't seem to find any concealer that works for under my eyes, but I do love CT and Nars for the rest of my face. Collabs are such a fun way to find more people to watch, thank you!
Thanks to Kathy! I'm so bad at pinning down to do collabs. My schedule is never regular and it's enough to drive everybody else crazy :) Kathy was super patient with me as we put this together and I'm glad she stuck with me, crazy schedule and all!
Have u tried the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer in the brightener shade specifically? (Did u mention that ) It’s not here in Canada (I’ve never seen it), and I’m SO curious Thoughts?
Hi Jen! My favorite would probably be the Ilia True Skin concealer - it's beautiful and scored a 93 when I tested it :) ua-cam.com/video/cdaTsCDbEOo/v-deo.html
@@goow thank you for that. I just found your concealer list on your website too! amazing. Perhaps you could add a Gabriel cosmetics and the Lip Bar review to your upcoming content. I am trying to only buy cruelty-free, and from POC and or LGBTQ owned businesses. Would love to see that. Thanks again for the amazing work you do here!
Sadly all of those concealers except the makeup Revolution are far too dark for me. I recently got Jeffree Star concealer in C1 and it's actually slightly lighter than my skin tone and absolutely fabulous under the eyes fragrance-free hydrating and doesn't settle into my lines. Looks far better than everything else I've ever tried. And yes We need more 40 + channels like yours
I just picked up a JS concealer to try! I think I got C2 which was a shade lighter than I wanted but the next few were out of stock. Unfortunately I think it's just a smidge too light for me.
Which No7 concealer do you use, if there's more than one? Is it supposed to be a dupe for the YSL All Hours concealer?
Yes we DO need more of us!! I’ll go check her out!
Agree but im mid 30s and i take all these tips from us fine wine women that arw even finer than me so i can look my best so agreed
¹
I like the Effacernes waterproof by Lancôme and the insta ready by Physicians formula, those are my favourite and I’m 51. Great video as usual. By by
I greatly appreciate NON problematic and non dramatic beauty youtubers, I GREATLY appreciate beauty youtubers who are also not 20 year olds with skin that will literally look flawless no matter what (seriously....I'm 39, my skin can be problematic), your channel is incredibly enjoyable and refreshing.
Lol
Agreed the Age Rewind is really nice.
Kathy is one of the first beauty channels I subscribed to. She's wonderful and very honest!
As a fellow dry-skinned, non-GOT following 40+, thank you Shelly!! I soooo appreciate you!
Woohoooo! My people!! 😂
Can't wait to see your channel! Shelly's right. Us 40+ creators gotta stick together 💚💙💜
I will have to try that primer trick! Thanks, Kayla!!
Oh, be still my nerdy history-loving heart...I am so pumped to go check her out! This is so neat!
It may just end up that way with these for you :-/
@@goow I can't wait for your upcoming concealer videos!!
Geek Out of Water looking forward to concealer week!
Have you tried MILANI Conceal + Perfect Longwear Concealer? Its so so so good also!
I have not! Added to my list - thanks, Rebecca!
@@goow For serious coverage or a big event, I rely on Lancome Effacernes as it matches my neutral skin tone perfectly. For every day, I have switched to the Benefit Boing hydrating concealer in the lipstick type tube.
I love the CoverGirl concealer for light coverage days. It's so smoothing!!
I think it would be interesting to see an update version/are any of these concealers still on your top five list!.
I've been subbed to her for while now so I'm loving this collab!
Thanks! Love your eye makeup!
Thanks, Carrie!
My two favorite tubers! And you even liked some of the same products. Wish we we’re neighbors. Love you guys.
I am constantly wishing that I could meet up with all of you!!!
That's such a sweet connection with your Grandma! 💜I'm catching up on the docu-torials this weekend too!
Enjoy Kathy A channel very informative!
Fit me is definitely in my top 10!
Fit Me has been a long time favorite of mine as well. :)
Your eyeshadow is gorgeous!
Thanks, Julia!
you aren't the only one. I also don't do game of thrones! Thought I was the only one.
I never would have guessed there were so many of us non-GOT people out there! :-D
Nope, me tto
I love Kathy A!! I’ve been following her for years and I esp love her docututorials, she’s so much fun esp when she imitates Charlotte tilbury, 😂 love her!! I’ve also won a giveaway from her !!! She’s fantastic!!!
The new elf concealer is my holy grail. I’ve tried so many and truly appreciate you showing ones I haven’t tried yet! Now I need to 😂💙💕
I've got the Elf in my bin to review soon!
Yes I love her doctutorials on her channel I’ve been following her for a few years and I love her!! She does fantastic giveaways as well, I won one and I was shocked lol but yes love her channel
Love your hair color. Looks great.
Thanks, Pamela!
Great video as always....will check out your friend's video now....
I love my Age Rewind! Nice to see it in your top 5.
It's a go-to!
Thanks, MzClementine! I've heard of oxalate issues. I would have a hard time avoiding spinach and nuts and berries and all that!
Just recently purchased Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away and I totally get the hype/love behind it. It really is...that good:)
I do prefer it applied with a concealer brush before going in with a Sponge to tap/blend everything out.
Right???!!!
Thank you for this! And I'm gonna check her channel out!
Thanks, Glenne! :-D
Nice to meet you Shelly 👍💖
Welcome, Diana!
I saw all the maybelline in my dollar general last week in the smaller sizes for 8$!! They have a lot of new drug store stuff that wasn't there before so everybody needs to take a look!!! This is a great video and thanks for letting us know about her we need more of this💟💟💟💟
I will definitely check mine! I wonder if it's all part of their new beauty push along with the release of their Believe brand.
@@goow I never thought of that! I bet it is! I was surprised at how much more stuff they had ,it was weird!! Good weird though 💟
I always love watching your videos x
Thanks, Flame!
Thanks! Great info on concealers. . .especially how moisturizing they are and how well they cover!
Thanks, Kathy!
12 good concealers..... BE STILL MY HEART!
Add the L'Oreal Age Perfect concealer on there because I think it came out after this video! It's one of my faves now!
Great options. Thank you for sharing.
I agree we need more mature UA-camrs thank you for all you do working full-time and still having time for us I think my favorite part of this video was Buck foot that is awesome I got the biggest laugh out of that keep up the good work
Thanks, Jan!! 😂
Oh boy, two of my faves--you and Kathy!
That was fun. You guys matched up on one or two. :)
I feel like I've come to accept that nothing can completely hide my circles - but yet I still keep trying to find The One!! :-D
I geek out over history! It's my thing man. 😁 I shall check out her channel.
Yesssss! :-D
Yes I’ll definitely check out your friend’s video. Also. I use Maybelline age rewind but you make the Charlotte
Tilbury sound so good. One day I’ll have to treat myself. Great video
The CT is so far the first and only concealer good enough that I'd be willing to give up the search for a better concealer if I had to :)
More awesome picks! Thank you for sharing!💞💋
Thanks, Gert!
Thank you!!! Some of these I have used and some I haven’t. I’ll definitely look into those.
Thanks, Stephanie!
Can you add these to your concealer fest review collection? How do they compare to the others?
Hi Shelly- thank you for this video. I've tried so many concealers and haven't really been happy with any of them. I want to try the Charlotte Tilbury and I also want to try the Maskara makeup line. 😊. Lily
Hi Lily! I've easily got 2 dozen different concealers here and still only 1 true #1 favorite (the Charlotte Tilbury). It can be tough to find a good concealer! The under eye area is super finicky!
Totally awesome video!! I have dry skin too and this video was extremely helpful thanks so much!
Thanks, Jeanne!
It's tough to find CT on sale! Even her web site rarely does promo sales. I try to hold out for the Sephora sales but a lot of times they're sold out.
I have been using makeup revolution's concealer recently and it doesn't give me a lot of coverage. I haven't seen game of thrones either ☺
I would've never guessed there are so many of us non-GOT people out there!!
Have you tried the Elf Camo Concealer? I bought it on a whim and was very shocked how good it was and only $5!!
@@goow what a rebel you are!! 😉
Yass! I have that pigment uder my eye as well. That sun! 🚫😄
Shelly, thank you for the recommendation! I’m going to check it out this week. You’re a peach. 😘
tear trough? i’ve considered getting mine filled.
the CT looks good. I need spandex for my eyes!
Wow they can fill that???!! I would need like a boat load of spackle to fill mine!
Covergirl has another one that looks like that container but black as opposed to purple, and part of the TrueBlend line. Have you tried it?
No and now I must find it!!
I enjoy Kathy’s channel and have gotten some good recommendations from her in the past. Thanks for the recommendations, I can always use more concealer help. I never watched GOT either, and since the fans are so upset with the last season, I think it’s just as well lol.
Sherry G The reason, I think, most of us are upset is because the previous seasons were SO good, and this season was horrid.
would you add the wet n wild incognito one to this list ?
Definitely yes!!
Kathy Aay sent me, I’m enjoying your video

Have you tried the Becca under eye primer?
Yes and I love it! I alternate between the Becca and the Tatcha Pearl.
Lol, I've never watched Game of Thrones either! I love the Maybelline (good thing too, as it's the only one I have!). Going to check Kathy's video now 🙂
So glad I'm not alone on that! :-D
@@goow thank you! I do like dewy look and I'll make sure to read the ingredients before buying any spray
Carrie Mroczkowski the no 7 radiant glow concealer is a really nice light coverage brightener.
The Too Faced makes my top 10 for sure :) I just wish their "very fair" shade was lighter!
KG9551 Thanks;) I’ll definitely look into that one!
Geek Out of Water Me too. Same with the Pacifica!
Great video! I’m a new sub from Kathy Aay & now I have to try the Charlotte Tilbury!

I didn’t know age rewind came in Fair. I have the ivory shade and I’ve never even seen Fair.
Yep ever since they introduced Ivory last year, Fair is now the second lightest shade. It's more of a pink undertone vs the yellow of Ivory.
Ah so Ivory I will stick with then, even if its a little dark. Its half empty, my C2 in MR is almost slap empty. Just got the Elf ones in today and did swatches already, I'm stoked. Btw, I sent you a dm on IG.
My concealer is light tart but lines do come through! Thought it because of the powder? What do you think??
Powder can make my lines come through more, especially when my skin is really dry. In the winter I try to avoid setting with powder if I can!
Have you tried the tarte creaseless?
I've got it here to review but haven't tried it yet! :-D
@@goow have you tried it yet?

I just LOVED this video! I am currently using First Aid Beauty’s Hello FAB Bendy Avocado Concealer. Have you ever used it? If so, what do you think of it? (I’m wondering how it compares to your recommendations. Thanks! 😘😘😘
I was SO bummed that the avocado concealer didn't work for me! I tried it every which way. On paper it sounds like it should be perfect for me! I'm going to try it again when it's less dry out and see if that had anything to do with it.
Geek Out of Water I apply it over just a touch of silicone-based primer. Try that.
I will! Thanks, JP!
Which is better, applying concealer before or after applying foundation?
I like to apply my concealer after my foundation but I don't think either way is really better. Just personal preference :) Sometimes when I'm doing a foundation that's new to me, I want to see how much coverage it has and how the undertone looks on me so I can choose my concealer accordingly.
@@goow Thank you!
What kind of sharpener do you use for the 24/7 waterline liner? I keep ruining the tips of mine.
(Did u mention that )
It’s not here in Canada (I’ve never seen it), and I’m SO curious
Thoughts?
Yes!! I love the pink undertone! I can only wear it on its own when I'm middle-of-winter-pale but it also mixes well.
Aloha Shelley do you have a favorites list for #greenbeauty concealers that are vegan/cruelty free? Live your videos
7PM? I’m confused. 😬
She's on the East Coast
Txgeekgirl42 She usually uploads at 9PM.
LOL Kathy's midwest so we went a little earlier today with the collab :)
I think CT is discontinuing our spandex concealer! 😭😭😭
I just got their new one and if it is equally spandex-y I will forgive them.... but I haven't tried it yet... I will probably film it this week!
Fabulous review! Thanks Shelley 🧡♥️🌚!! On my way to checkout your friends channel.
