This is absolutely incredible. I've been thinking about starting to dye my own discs for a while now and you have just inspired me! By far of the of best, if not the best looking dye jobs, I've ever seen
Well done dude. I still can’t get over how much of the dye (especially worm dip) comes off after you rinse the glue away. Been hard to get pink red or orange worm dip to stick. Have to use the iDye equivalent for those colors.
Yeah, I was surprised how poorly the pink worked. I have seen a few posts lately specifically about pink worm dip. Blue and yellow worked great so it must be something to do with the density, causing it to sink more.
Thanks man! This was my first shot at a glue bed. Very happy with how it turned out. I watched some of yours and will definitely be getting some tubing so I don't have to bend over the disc with the straw.
@@FlyingMileDiscGolf yeah it works so much better. Your breath is quite humid as well, so grab a can of compressed air like keyboard cleaner you can use to clean out the airline from condensation too. I think water/spit on the bed makes white spots
I finally tried this after watching this video (using idye poly) and I’m pretty happy with the result of my first attempt. The only issue I had was that I used a pie tin that was black, so I couldn’t really see where the colors were going and was designing blind lmao.
I didn't press very hard at all, just enough to make sure it was settled. What type of dye are you using? The pink worm dip seemed to sink quite a bit on mine and didn't transfer much.
I try to pour it out smooth to avoid bubbles, but if they do show up I just use a toothpick to drag them to the edge. You can also use heat to get them to rise the the surface to get rid of them.
If you are able to, use cold water as it will help prevent the color from spreading. When needed, warm or hot water can help get the glue off of the disc.
it works great! Check out the RIT Tie Dye Glue Bed - Disc Golf Dye video ua-cam.com/video/PQ6OchsdGgA/v-deo.html. This week we will upload a video where we used RIT dyemore synthetic mixed with acetone.

Thank you! It gets addicting. Join the disc golf dyers group on Facebook, lots of information there.
@@FlyingMileDiscGolf Just requested to join the group! Thanks for the inspiration and suggestion 😁

That looks great! Now shine a UV light on it haha. I use 1/4” airline tubing as a straw and its super effective.

Beautiful art work!

I had that same problem using a black frisbee to hold the dye. Definitely easier using a silver tin.
Have you ever tried a second dip with a new disc in the same glue ?
That's incredible my man
Thank you!
This disc turned out great! Is it going into your bag this year?
You know it!
How firmly do you press down? I tried but the dye seemed to sink and I didn't get much transfer

@@FlyingMileDiscGolf rit synthetic though I didn't add acetone as I had none will that make the colors less dense?
Yeah rit powder should be mixed with acetone. It absorbs much much faster when mixed.
@@FlyingMileDiscGolf is actually liquid already but I presume the results would be similar. Shall get some tomorrow. Thanks
@@buddharmt did adding acetone help?
How concentrated are your color mixtures? We've been using ProChem. Still trying to figure out a few techniques.
All the dyes in this one were quick coat worm dip, 100%
Yo that looks so sick I wanna do this to my hades disc!! Where do you buy the dyes?
The worm dip dyes are available at fishing sites, RIT and iDye Poly are at most craft stores.
Does the glue method add to the weight of the disc?
No, it all washes off. The dye that is absorbed doesn't add any weight.
@@FlyingMileDiscGolf good to know, thank you!
what is the ratio of dye to acetone? my dye ends up too thick and just sinks to the bottom of the glue bed
All the dyes in this one were quick coat worm dip, 100%
Do you only use the glue bed once? So after you pull out you get rid of all the glue?
Yeah we only use it once. You can definitely use it a second time, but it will be more difficult to get the exact pattern you're looking for.
Do you ever have any issues with air bubbles in the glue? If so how do you get them out?
I try to pour it out smooth to avoid bubbles, but if they do show up I just use a toothpick to drag them to the edge. You can also use heat to get them to rise the the surface to get rid of them.
How does the worm dip not eat through the stamp?
The alcohol part of the worm dip evaporates very quickly, so by the time you place the disc there isn't anything left to dissolve the stamp.
Are you rinsing with cold water? Video doesn't say.
If you are able to, use cold water as it will help prevent the color from spreading. When needed, warm or hot water can help get the glue off of the disc.
@@FlyingMileDiscGolf thank you! Excited to try!
@@meganburgett2541 it's a lot of fun! Best of luck!
Song name?
First song is Outside the Box - Patrick Patrikios. Second is Walking in the Sky - Nico Staf. Found them both in the UA-cam audio library.
Do you think this would work on a DX plastic disc as well?
DX and all other baseline plastics are very bad for absorbing dye. You won't get even close to this level of color.
@@FlyingMileDiscGolf thank you!!
What dye do you use for spin dye?
Worm dip, and also iDye powder mixed with acetone
@@FlyingMileDiscGolf what ratio do you mix them at?
and do you mix the acetone right into the bottle of wormdip?
The worm dip already contains alcohol, so no need to add acetone.
About 1/4 teaspoon dye powder, and 1 ounce acetone
Weight stays the same?
All the glue is washed off, so no added weight.
Does anyone know how Rit Dyemore synthetic dye would work with this method?

@@FlyingMileDiscGolf thanks for the info, I’ll check it out!
of course yall cant put what we need in the description
please don't spin the disc so much next time at the end, great job though.
