@@davinalopez-oz1ez well I’m not happy with it, sorry to disappoint you. He likely won’t serve all 25 years, as federal prisoners get the option to shave off time with good behavior and those who commit financial crimes almost always serve about half of their sentences. It’s not enough for how many lives he affected. It’s not just the wealthy that invested in the market. Not to mention if he gets out early he would still be able to eventually retrieve the funds that they didn’t recuperate. So yeah, I’m disappointed. Sorry.

He didn't have political clout as a rookie donor despite the donations to (mostly) Democrats and (some) to Republicans. Look at Jon Corzine. Though less money was involved, Corzine got away with it. Corzine was smart and paid back the richest investors first while small investors were wiped out (some committed suicide, lost their homes and farms, etc). Bankman-Fried could not pay back his richest investors and thus had to pay the price. Corzine also had a lot longer to forge political connections. Never piss off the U.S. Oligarchy. Billionaires might not like each other? But they absolutely will cooperate with each other in their hatred of the hoi polloi.

Granted he played the capital game to harshly but I sincerely believe that his effective altruism ideology is based and just imagine how transformative of a change somebody with his mindset could have brought to our society.
