This song is just one of many examples why The Beatles were and still are the greatest band in history and if anyone wants to argue that please don't waste my time. Lennon was not yet 25 when he wrote this one. A more haunting beautiful song you won't hear by anyone else. I was seven in 65 when I got the Rubber Soul album, I'm 63 now and this song has always been relevant in my life. I've seen a lot of places come and go and not always for the better and at my age I've seen a lot of death of many loved ones. Some are still living somewhere and I have find memories of them. Very nice reaction young lady and Beatles 4 Ever ! ☮️✌️💕
Nobody could touch the Beatles. Elvis is my all time favorite artists and The Beatles are my second fav. The Beatles by far were the greatest group ever.
John had a notebook in which he jotted down places he remembered from his youth. One day he was looking at it and realized that they were "places fast disappearing", as he put it. The lyrics started to come to him soon after. Just another in the absurdly long list of timeless, beautiful Beatles songs.
It's written about one of Lennon's closest friends, Stuart Sutcliff, early member of the Beatles. During one of their long gigs in Germany, Stu fell in love and was also accepted into arts school. He suddenly at 21(?) of a brain aneurysm .
It may not seem possible to you now, but "In My Life" takes on more and more meaning with every passing year. And it happens differently to everyone, according to their memories and their lives. It's both deeply personal and universally understood by all. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go crawl into my room and sob uncontrollably. It happens every single time.
In reverse order: "Rubber Soul" was a REVOLUTION. Most newbies don't bother with it because they are told to listen only to "Revolver" and "Abbey Road". They have no idea what they are missing. I grew up with them. My favorite two LPs of theirs are "Beatles for Sale" and "The Beatles" (aka "White" album). I think "Abbey Road" is very slightly overproduced, slick.
This song was about when the Beatles played in Hamburg Germany and the cavern clubs in Liverpool it was a song about looking back on their lives but it also made you think about your own memories
Thank you Sunshine, this song could be been written for me, the times of my life, good sad.. nostalgic..I lost a few..I won more..life was a game when I was younger..and my daughter was born ,my life changed forever..and in my life..I loved her more ❤️💔 One of my favorite by them...
When you're ready for more like that from The Beatles, check out these songs sung by John Lennon: "Girl", "No Reply", "Rain", "Dear Prudence", "Julia", "Cry Baby Cry", "Happiness Is A Warm Gun", "I'm Only Sleeping", "All I've Got To Do", "From Me to You", among many many more.
The Beatles were the first ever music I heard 30 years ago and I’ve heard this song countless times, yet this song never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
This was the song 🎵 that my oldest daughter picked out for the father and daughter dance for her wedding. Simply love it and holds so much more meaning to me . The Beatles were the most revolutionary and evolutionary music group ever in music 🎶!
I always loved the back-and-forth stereo between the headphones, too. The Cars were known for doing that (Just What I Needed, Moving in Stereo). "Welcome to the Machine" by Pink Floyd does it, and it sounds incredible!
Growing up in the sixties and having4 older brothers who all played in garage bands and became pretty good musicians playing around the state of Maine my oldest brother would bring a new beatle 45 home every week at least that's what it seemed definitely the most influential band in history more kids started playing instruments because of them beautiful song, you can start at A and end up at Z in their catalog and never hear the same sound twice great reaction keep spreading the music to the masses God-bless.
I was in grade school when the Beatles gained popularity so to say Beatles tunes have been a big part of my life would be an understatement. But as I've aged this has become my personal Beatles song. It's my life to a T.
One of those lightning in a bottle bands. The music 4 people who due to fate or something, met and created the most beautiful music ever!! They were so different than anyone at that time. I get goosebumps every time.🎶🎵💙💜
My daughter and I picked this song for our dance at her wedding. Many said it was a perfect song for the occasion. Hard to believe that was over 15 years ago.
Thankfully this did not get blocked, and showed John could write introspective songs as well as Paul.Check out if possible, You've got to Hide your love Away
Almost all of John's songs were mostly introspective. About his life,of those around him,his loves, his son,or his mother. Sure, there were some that werent. Those were about his friends,et. But he always wrote about things that effected him. Paul always wrote syrupy sweet songs for girls, even later on.
I enjoyed watching your reaction to this. Your calming smile was priceless. Groups don’t use stereo as they once did. It’s such a lost art - hearing different sounds in each ear.
This is an autobiographical song about John Lennon's life. He wrote most of the lyrics after being asked why a book he wrote, In His Own Write, revealed more about him than his songs did. The lyrics about friends refer to Stu Sutcliffe, an early Beatle and great friend of John's who died in 1962, and another friend named Pete Shotton. Lennon also thought of his Aunt Mimi and wife Cynthia, as well as other friends. One of the most beautiful Beatles songs, John called it "A little piece of art work."
"I could listen to the Beatles all day long..." That's exactly what we did!
Did? DO!!
From the vibe, probably while high. Not judging. I'm definitely medicating while listening to the Beatles.
@@christhornycroft3686absolutely!! All we needed was some beers, a little grass, our best girl and our Beatles records. Perfect combination
This song is so sweet, nostalgic and means so much to me.
The mid-60s are my favorite era of the Beatles. John's lyrics were out of this world, and Paul was on fire musically
This has to be one of the best songs of all time.
"Here, There, and Everywhere" is another great Beatles love song.
This song is just one of many examples why The Beatles were and still are the greatest band in history and if anyone wants to argue that please don't waste my time. Be sure to get back with us when your 64 . Peace ☮️ ✌️
Terrific reaction JAYY. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine selected In My Life as their #1 song of the rock and roll era (1956-2003). Best wishes, RNB
Absolutely John’s masterpiece. The lyrics coming from a personal aspect!
Norwegian Wood..
I always thought that this song was about his friend Pete Shotton. Pete wrote a book entitled ...John Lennom..In my life!
Mostly a John song and no doubt it’s a very personal song. They were masters of anything they did
ALL a Lennon song.
@@jnagarya519 Paul claims to have written the melody.
@@LeChaunce So? Sophisticated analysis finds it 98.2 per cent likely it was al John's.
@@LeChaunce lol he's lying , John does his classic vocal inflections in the melody
Thank you soooo much Jayy. The Beatles outdid themselves when they opened themselves to the pain and pleasure of life and shared it with us.
LOVE ❤️ LOVE ❤️ LOVE ❤️ this song was played at my dad's funeral 💔 xxx
Most highly influential artists of all time..the Beatles
I love this song. It is looking back on his life and saying what or who in the case was important to him. Beautiful
I'm 67 and this becomes extrairdinarily more relevant with each passing year and, sadly, each passing....
Nobody could touch the Beatles. Elvis is my all time favorite artists and The Beatles are my second fav. The Beatles by far were the greatest group ever.
My wedding song. We found one another again after 33 years…this just fit and so beautiful.
We found each other after 35 years
The entire album, "Rubber Soul" is so damn incredible!!! Listen to the whole album.
Rubber Soul was when they turned the corner and came into their own. Probably after dropping acid and experimenting .
@@kenhoyer8601 Rubber Soul is called "the weed album" and they got crazier after. :D
You can tell by looking at the cover that The Beatles were onto something new here. Great album.
John had a notebook in which he jotted down places he remembered from his youth. One day he was looking at it and realized that they were "places fast disappearing", as he put it. The lyrics started to come to him soon after. Just another in the absurdly long list of timeless, beautiful Beatles songs.
What for an wunderful song from the Fab Four; thank for the good music all time from Germany!
This song brought tears to my eyes when it was new & I was 12 yrs old. It still brings tears to my eyes, even more so.💙
It should Never be forgotten that George Martin (the only thing close to a 5th Beatle) plays the harpsichord solo on here!!
Pretty amazing how much this song changed for me as I grew older. I am now 70 and these words mean so much more than they did when I was 20.
I am 69 and have lost friends and relationships myself, and I agree with you.
A year late, but if it hasn't been mentioned, that incredible harpsichord solo was played by their producer, Sir George Martin. He was also a genius.
It was actually a piano with the recording sped up.
John was writing about remembering Friends and Girl Friends that he knew in his life. RIP John
It's written about one of Lennon's closest friends, Stuart Sutcliff, early member of the Beatles. During one of their long gigs in Germany, Stu fell in love and was also accepted into arts school. He suddenly at 21(?) of a brain aneurysm .
It's obviously not only about one person. He also lost his mother when he was just getting to know her.
He’s not the You but he’s “people and friends that went before”
It may not seem possible to you now, but "In My Life" takes on more and more meaning with every passing year. And it happens differently to everyone, according to their memories and their lives. It's both deeply personal and universally understood by all.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go crawl into my room and sob uncontrollably. It happens every single time.
Dropping the harpsichord solo like it’s the 1500s is such a flex.
What a lovely smile, girl. That's what the Beatles are about.
Outstanding track, great choice Jayy
The Beatles are my favorite band of all time.. one of the most underrated songs if you can say that is "And I love her"... please listen to that one!!
By the Beatles obviously
In my life……..the Beatles. This will be engraved in my headstone when my time comes.
Revolver & Rubber Soul are Perfect bookend albums
Both worth a listen to in their entirety, Jayy

Short sweet and a masterpiece never gets old hearing this great Beatles tune 👨🏻🦱👨🏻🦱👨🏻🦱👨🏻🦱
One of the most underrated Beatles songs ever
They probably had one of the greatest record producers of rock music
Their music transcends all barriers...Unites all people...true meaning of love...

One of my favorite by them...
I'm 67 and this becomes extraordinarily more relevant with each passing year and, sadly, each passing....
If this song doesn't give you goosebumps, you're not human..
From experience, whenever you're down in the dump, turn on The Beatles and your soul fills back up.
My all time favorite Beatle song. Thanks for sharing this magical band on your channel 💜
In My Life was my wedding song...Absolutely genius...
Love the Beatles. Always classic songs. You can just close your eyes and croon in your mind.

You missed the other 200 classics:)
Look at that smile
That song will be played at my funeral.
One of my favorites…..
Great choice 🥰
I Tear up every damn time.
Definitely one of my favorites of theirs. Love how simple it is. Love the double intro bar on the guitar.
This song was dedicated to me by an old boy many years ago when I was a young girl, it is so special to me.
The Beatles LITERALLY revolutionized music.

It never, ever gets old.
He wrote it when he was 23/24. True poetry in motion.
We all have these feelings about people in our lives
The Beatles always get to me! Thanks Jayy!
Love your smile as the voices of John and Paul kick in 🤩
The Beatles made the world a better place.
This is one of my favorite Beatles songs 💜
I enjoy the Beetles earlier songs and this song is how I feel.
Beatles
They still sound relevant, nearly 60 years on
Lovely reaction
I’ve been listening to the Beatles since I was 16. I’m 74 and am still listening to them. I also saw them in 1966 in Philly.
This song always makes me cry.
My favorite Beatles song and one of Lennon's best. My mom died of cancer in 2016 and it took on a whole new meaning to me.
I also love The Beatles!! This song is amazing!! Awesome Job JJay, love your reactions.
I always loved the back-and-forth stereo between the headphones, too. The Cars were known for doing that (Just What I Needed, Moving in Stereo). "Welcome to the Machine" by Pink Floyd does it, and it sounds incredible!
My favorite song of all.
My favorite Beatles song of all time.
One of my favorite tune by the Fab four!
My favorite song of theirs
As soon as you smiled with that first line, I knew you loved it ❤
Ringo's drumming on this track is stunningly simple, yet so complex!!😁😁🇬🇧
Your Smile !!! “Dear Prudence” will do that to you

Another outstanding drum pattern by you know who.
My first Beatle album when I was in 6th grade.

"In my life" is perfect for love the second time around. My friend used this as first dance at her second marriage. They are still married.

It's about loving friends and family here and those gone
One of my favourite Beatles song.
Often classified as the most understated Beatles song ever, and I agree.
Music gods🎸🎸🎸🎸
The BEST Beatles song
...a beautiful Tavistock composition.
Greatest hits in rock history
Probably my favorite Beatles song very meaningful the whole album is superb
Thank you Jayy! This is my song to my husband of 36 years. He is my rock!
