Not our role to understand. We have Mr. Ranieri for that. Beside the fact that someone might be sent on loan for the rest of the season, maybe Abdulhamid) I think the main reason they might have green lit the transfer its beacuse of the player possible versatility. He played a third of all his official matches as centre back. That means he could easily play as the a third on a 3 defense (on the right), a fourth on a 4 defense and as 5th on a 3-5-2. Which gives a lot of options to a coach to move other players around (i.e. Salamaekers on the left either as substitute for Angelino or behind Dovbyk with Dybala OR Mancini who could move more in the centre if Hummels is not available). Also I am pretty sure he is ambidextrous, which is also a plus. The only thing I am not too convinced is that we could maybe have found someone with similar skills that already plays in Serie A and has more experience in Italian football. He might find hard to adapt to Serie A and coming in January he also might need a few weeks to settle in before he can actually be utilized. A more ready to be pluged in player, maybe on a 6 months loan, could have made more sense. Then you could have taken Rensch at zero in the summer. But again, Mr. Ranieri knows WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY more of soccer than I would ever dream of. So I am ok with this :)
@gakjelasproduction5318 he's with roma until next season, the disaster is when roma and milan reach the agreement but turns out he's not compatible with the new coach. Because Ranieri is stepping down this summer.
*BENVENUTO ALLA ROMA.. RENSCH,IN BOCCA AL LUPO..*
I don't understand this transfer, they already had 3 RB, and Saelemaekers play in the right too.
