Sue LaRue is a great piece of Americana. He's what this country is all about. CRAZY... AND NEVER QUIT! Glad he's on our side. Great insight on that special kind of training. Thanks Sue... that was a great episode!
Outstanding. Seaux thank you for sharing your experience, thoughts, and inspiration. “And remember, Tomorrow is gonna get better.” I’ll take that Seaux, thank you. 🇺🇸
A very humbling testimony. These guys don't play around. LaRue tells the story in such a way that you cannot stop listening. As always, another outstanding video!
I volunteered for SERE School in 1990 not long after I got to 5th Group. I was in phase 2 when Nick Rowe was killed, 18B. SERE was a good learning experience, but it wasn’t fun for sure.
@@frankjaeger3799 No, I never met Nick Rowe, he was in the Philippines, I believe, and was killed while there. At the time that he was killed I was in the middle of phase 2 back when the Q Course had 3 phases. One of the instructors came into the room and stopped the class for a moment to make the announcement.
I attended two different courses. SERE is the gift that keeps on giving. Edit: what bothers me most to this day was the double sided flag at the end. That was a worse gut punch than all ones for being to tall.
I love that part when you said you were half black, this is the mindset we need in America. We're Americans no division, we're one I love this country I wont break.
anyone else think he was going to say he jumped over the table & kiss the bearded one??? LOL great video i love listening to these kind of stories!!! thank you
There's something very useful about having a MODIFIED version of SERE school available for the public to inform our dear friends and family members what to do "just in case" extreme situations arrive at home or abroad.
I was listening to a Podcast with the famous story teller who calls himself Mr Ballen and he said he had to go through SERE School when he was a Navy SEAL. He said he much whether go through BUDs again then ever go through SERE School ever again.
I was a Navy Aircrewman on SAR Helos during Viet Nam before they had SERE. I finally went to SERE at Warner Springs after the war. We were sworn to secrecy about the school under threat of Court Martial. Why? Primarily because it undermined the training for those coming behind us. I am 78 now, having served thirty years and I STILL do not talk about SERE!!!!

Now we need a part two of that song "A Boy Named Sue" talking how he became a Green Beret to show his daddy how much of a man he was, and still hates that name
And I looked upon the wet pea gravel and beheld the sight of lima beans, red beans, sweet peas and small pieces of broccoli and cauliflower. And I thought to myself that someone threw up their vegetable soup. But where did they get the vegetables? And lo it was pea gravel again. I am War Baby!
That’s a very important class during the pipeline that you must pay attention to highly there’s two seasons if you’re in the pipeline that you’re going on need to know about warm season I don’t say summer I don’t say spring. It’s just warm reason why because you have edibles to consume more opportunity to forge winter season is the worst Harley no edibles you will starve for a bit and the cold nights will affect you deeply at least in the warm season you just deal with the bugs, which are edible so if you’re in the pipeline, don’t take the cold weather season
Big differences between failing something an deliberately flunking an throwing the game. Sounds like they caught your deliberately sabotage an decided to make you something special there
I don’t see why they train pilots for this situation I’m talking about survival in the wilderness return eject when they hit the ground. They are helpless as Bambi, so I really don’t see a point of even giving them a knife or a pistol

I find this fucking hilarious

I went to SERE Phase 3 course,( 1989 ), I consider it the best course I ever attended, it was both mental and physical, taught me alot about myself.
I volunteered for SERE School in 1990 not long after I got to 5th Group. I was in phase 2 when Nick Rowe was killed, 18B. SERE was a good learning experience, but it wasn’t fun for sure.

“1990, so we’re talking 30 years ago”. That hurt me in my soul.
I don't mean to rub salt in the wound but 34 yrs ago to be exact.

They should’ve made Jane Fonda go to SERE so she could get a small taste of what those men suffered due to her daddy issues.
