There should definitely be more, "This section does this, or this panel is for that." And less, "I'm gonna click this, or I'm gonna add that." Personally I think, "Getting Started" means an introduction to the interface, navigation, shortcuts, panels, etc.

Please make a whole video tutorial series with beginner, medium and advanced topics . I don't know how you can have a great application and a lot of subscribers and don't have a real series about your product ?
Ok, Im going to agree with everybodys comments and have a request. When you hopefully start doing a new batch of tutorials, please, do it step by step, as UI is unique,as are the settings, approach and software. I had a really hard time following, without jumping around, especially with the auto-close windows. Its ok for starters, but it really needs work.
all i learned from this tutorial is that there are 3 buttons to generate trunks and that this lady is always gonna do a thing without telling anyone what the thing does
It's a pretty good intro into what the program can do. It doesn't really teach you much about why you are moving the sliders and buttons but at least demos a quick possibility. Definitely need work on not repeating "I'm gonna.... I'm gonna....." though :P!
can you show us the basic part of making a leaves card with branch twigs and leaves I haven't seen one make that, mostly was one leaf one card which is really high poly, wanted like more on game thing. thank you.
Cinema Version produces High Poly models which are not optimized for games. They are just used in movies. On the other hand, Indie version makes models optimized for games like adding LOD's, draw calls, etc. Plus the models are exported easily in Engines like Unity or Unreal engine by using their predefined presets.
I followed the step by step and I don't see "Batched Leaves" option in the list... the list has everything else but "Batched Leaves", Am I doing something wrong? or it's just not there?
Speedtree documentation says it is "unitless" - but the height reference is in feet. I'm new at this, and seems like there's no way to change the representation.
So people create good quality video tutorials to help us and other people complain about verbal tics... Interesting. Anyway, thank you for the tutorial. I just one question: when I try to create the leaves, they don't appear in the visor, any idea why (they are not hidden)?
Hi , loving Speedtree , its really awesome , just one quick question to post here to see if I can get some help , when exporting Leaf Mesh models the tweaks that I do in Orientation don't seem to export when I am using the Leaf Mesh models . Now they do when I use Batched leaves , but the collision detection in the Leaf Mesh models I feel is way better so I would like to have these orientations when I go to Maya . I have tried exporting them as ABC and FBX files with Leaf references on but neither of these seem to show the changes I do with any of the editors in the Orientation section of the properties . As stated it works with Batched leaves , just not Leaf Mesh , any help would be awesome . Thanks.
Thank you for the reply, this is a great little app you have here, can't imagine how much more time it would take to model trees from scratch. i'm just on my second day of learning so ill keep at it before i ask to many questions, i was just getting a bit tired and frustrated when i commented last night. I've been learning a ton of new programs lately, and my honest constructive criticism for the whole industry is to try and emulate the #askzrush videos that pixelogic has done. 2-10 min videos on precise topics has made learning zbrush so easy, and has also spoiled me a bit when it's comes to nearly every other bit of software ive picked up since. So anyway, just take that for whats its worth. Thanks again, if i don't answer my questions in tonights round of education, i my be back to ask for some help if needed.
I am pausing this video very very often because this is not a beginners tutorial. I have no idea what I'm clicking on and I'm constantly being lost in the menus. This shouldn't be the video that comes up when I search "speedtree beginner tutorial"
This is probably the worst "getting started" tutorial I've ever watched. When you are giving instructions about how to do something you are using parameters that dont match up with your instructions. For example when you say "I'm gonna make this thing bigger" and then you move a slider that doesn't have a "SIZE" label, its pretty confusing as to wtf you're doing.

Get gud
I know Right!
You gotta love your "branch leaves generator". Obviously, it's "batched leaf generator" but nope, since that would actually make sense...

Great job!
I wish there was a full course on the UE4/Unity version. I tried to look for one and even on Gumroad it's unfindable... too bad

Hello, sorry, I had a question, why do I want when I want? nodes If I choose, the symptoms will not appear
Can someone tell me what is the difference between speedtree cinema and speedtree Indie?.
Thanks in advanced

It's now in the "default generator" when you click on add.
Batched leaves are in the cinema modelers main template menu but in any of the games modelers they are in default.
Too many "im gonna, then Im gonna...."
You should say: " I'm gonna get gud!" and stop crying.
Please in which units are the models made - inch, mm, cm, m.
There is a figure of his height
Speedtree documentation says it is "unitless" - but the height reference is in feet. I'm new at this, and seems like there's no way to change the representation.
Thank u For this help

Is there anyway to change the UI fronts much more bigger? It is too small now.
The 8.1 Cinema release features display scaling, which should help!
Scaling updates were a part of our recent update: store.speedtree.com/speedtree-cinema-v8-1-0-released/
good tool!
Has the interface changed? im not seeing what you are showing on a few of these steps.
This is the Interface of SpeedTree Cinema 8. It's quite a bit different than 7!

You can add a cap generator from the template menu at the top of the modeler window under "edit"
