hey Abby, honestly this is the clearest and the best demonstrated Auslan video on youtube. Kudos to you!! I've been trying to find sources to learn Auslan but its so hard to find and very less material available. Thanks so much for the video, would really appreciate if you could do more videos on it. cheers!
Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely comment, I’m so glad to hear it was helpful and clear. This has made my week! I would love to make more AUSLAN videos, so definitely keep an eye out ☺️ Have a lovely and safe week!
If you truly would like to learn Auslan I would suggest looking at the Auslan Anywhere website. It is a collection of short videos created by members of the Deaf community who are fluent within the language designed to teach anyone Auslan.
The 'your' perspective helps so much. I never got very far when I learnt this in school but have found many situations where it could've helped me in adulthood.
Thank you! I’m still in primary school but I’ve recently become really interested in Auslan and how sign language works. This helps a lot, because I have a classmate that has hearing problems and I really want to be able to learn ASL. This was very clear so thank you!!
Hi there! Thanks for your comment, so happy to hear you're interested in learning about sign language! Just to let you know, this is for AUSLAN (australian sign language) not ASL (american) :)
@@AbbyLeahh learning Auslan is difficult lol I learned ASL when I was in Kindergarten (before primary I guess you could say) and had to teach myself ASL I'm trying to learn Auslan but I keep using my less dominant hand lol
I'm a newbie & I'm soaking up all these awesome lessons.. I'm so glad that people care enough to teach hearing people like me how to sign!!.. you guys are the greatest!!
This is absolutely amazing, thanks so much for this! I've been getting myself hopelessly muddled trying to figure out the dominant hand of people on youtube and which part of the sign should be dominant. Thanks so much for such a clear explanation. Also the "your perspective" bit is amazingly helpful - that's another thing that had been stumping me.
@@wltrrbls I mean two years later, it’s her channel she can post what she wants but I’d much rather learn auslan than fashion and beauty things that many many other youtubers already do
Thanks for making this! I was struggling to learn watching other resources. Even though I'm left handed your video was the easiest to learn from! It's the only one I've found with the signs from your own POV and it made all the difference. You're really good at explaining and I appreciated how you kept describing the position of the dominant hand/fingers.
You should check out the website Auslan Anywhere it is a collection of short videos crested by members of the Deaf community to help people learn Auslan.
It's been four years so you a) might not see this and b) if you do, you might already know this, but as this video is super helpful, I am hoping my tip will also be slightly helpful: While I think your hands look fine, if you are worried, put some light moisturising cream on your hands (and only hands) before putting the fake tan on. The cream stops the tan seeping into any of the cracks/dryness on your hands/fingers (especially in the webbing area). Thank you so much for such a helpful video.
Thank you so much for explaining that so clearly. I had my first class the other day and they didn't have any print outs and they went through the alphabet too quickly. I really struggled as I am not a fast learner. I just watched a different video but your explanation and demonstrations were much clearer. I liked that you had the different angles of videos for those of us who are right handed
This is great !! Thanks so much, I would really love to see more Auslan videos from you 😊 so clear and easy to understand.. as someone who is going deaf I really need to start learning hahah cheers
This is so lovely, thank you for leaving a comment! I'll definitely make more now that I know people are finding it useful. I'm so sorry to hear you are going through such a big transition, I hope you are well, happy signing! 😊
I started learning sign language in grade 5 since my aide also worked at the Victorian College of the Deaf and I saw it in my dictionary and I thought it was so interesting.
Thank you so much for this, I know the alphabet, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was what with my hands and ended up doing most of the letters backwards/reversed😅.this was so helpful to clarify which hand is which in it all
Wow! Im in the US and have heard that sign language is different throughout the US itself. Auslan is so much different than ASL: using both hands for the letters instead of one hand. I was watching The Wiggles and had to look Auslan up! Thank you for sharing!
I have some ASL background which for me is much easier using just one hand instead of both for the alphabet. It's going to take me a while to get the hang of these.
Hi Abby. I am a beginner, learning sign language. I liked how slowly you signed the alphabet. It made it easier for me to pick it up. Thank you. Yes more videos would be great.
Thank you Abby so much. When I was in kindy we learnt auslan and I forgot it. I would search it up and the only letter I remembered was M but every time I searched it up it didn’t com up with the Auslan way. Thank you 😊.
I have an Aussie friend learning AUSLAN. I'm American and have been using American Sign Language since '91. I've noticed that there are some things that are very similar to each other and some things that are radically different. Like fingerspelling. Which, to be fair, is not too surprising as they are different languages.
That was good! I have looked at other videos but could never get Q. You explain it clearly. Thank you! I’d love to learn a song in Auslan if you are up for that!
i learned the alphabet off by heart in yr 3 just so my friends and i could talk in class and stuff without people knowing. i dont even know how we learnt, we didnt have books or videos or anything lol.
I love this video. Thank you for explaining this, especially the dominant hand/non-dominant hand thing. However, I still can’t get over you saying “zee”, though. Haha.
I'm deaf and never learnt, I'm over 70 single, live in the bush and very rarely come in contact with people except my doctor and the bloke that brings my tucker. He also gets my phone recharge vouchers I get along with pencil and paper after l left school at 13. The horses and dogs understand me.
I randomly got sick and then got better but I can barely hear anything, and when I run and have my heart beat increasing I can hear it loudly but cant hear what ppl are saying to me
Im learning ausland for my deaf father, who recetnly got into a fire and is now deaf,on particlly,so i want to learn ausland. If you have any good video links please send them to me!
You should check out the website Auslan Anywhere. You can learn Auslan from people within the Deaf community directly using this. Also look up your state's Deaf society they have both in person and online courses available.
Hi, I get a bit confused about what sign language is being shown in different videos. At school I learnt British two handed spelling which uses the same signs that you are using, but then some videos show single handed spelling, but the people in them speak with American accents so I take it they are using American sign language. Can you tell me is British two handed spelling the same as Australian sign language? Also is there a single handed version of Australian sign language? Thanks so much.

So glad I could help! Different perspectives definitely helps ensure you're signing properly :)

Easily the most clear video on auslan alphabet. Thanks I appreciate you teaching it, a skill I'll use forever thank you so much 🥰

Thank you! My daughter loves learning new signs so I’ll show her this video and we can learn to sign the alphabet together.
Thanks for leaving this comment 💕 Happy signing you two!

I learnt this at school grade 6 cause we had a dead girl I loved signing to her

Sorry for being the annoying person who always corrects people but I just can't help it sorry 😂
Wow must be pretty amazing if you can communicate across the veil.
He’s like ‘nope no typo’
At my school we learn it in case we do ever meet someone who is Deaf or Mute
Layla's Life that’s part of why i’m learning it right now
I learnt it in the 70s but thought I should revise. Like falling off a bike, you never forget!

I hope you will do more Auslan, you are a great teacher.😊. Some people just have the natural talent.
I know a bit of American Sign Language, and it is so interesting to see the variations across different sign languages

This helped so much I have a deaf coworker and I want to learn to communicate with him
Hello Abby your video was clear and easy to understand, I’m able to remember the alphabets because of you. Thank you so much please make moreeee 😭😭
Hey this is Courtney Cassidy from primary school 💞 This is an awesome video and informative because I’m trying to learn auslan xo
Good job for teach me .. I am Malaysian deaf and future Australian citizen
Awesome work x I recommend recapping all the letters as you go from the beginning, so do a, then b, then a b, then c, then a b c and so on 😊
Excellent Abby, you have encouraged me to practice the Auslan alphabet, thank you.
really good audio, light and video quality. very easy to understand. thank you

I accidentally leant asl so this helped me a lot, thx
So glad I could help :)
Im ambidextrous so as much as I can do the alphabet no problem, some of it is with my right, some of it is with my left.
thank you for this video Abby! so easy to understand and follow!
Best Abc demo I have seen.
Keep up the good work 🙂💯
i’m left handed and everything will be backwards hahahaha
Haha yes it will be but YOU GOT THIS! x
so am I but I adjusted to doing it right hand dominant, it’s pretty easy once you get used to it :)
This was the best tutorial. I appreciate you doing the box with our point of view. Thank you so much

great thanks
This should be a class in school. But tysm for teaching us this!
Neat, I can sign my name now! :) thanks!
You didn't HAVE to fake tan. Pale skin is beautiful. You have light eyes and hair, so pale skin would look more flattering on you than orange paint.
Lots of womens lotions have a tanner in them

Your showing very clearly
This is very well demonstrated. Thank you

this is the exact same language as british!!
Good happy with sign language ♥
that was a mazing please make more videos!😁😄😃😀
Woah, the auslan alphabet is identical to the BSL alphabet, wasn't expecting that!
Most of what we do comes from the British influence.
We're most of us still very British in our hearts, even while we're fiercely stand alone Aussie
Yes, and New Zealands sign language
it's not identical as far as I can see. Some letters seem to be different. But yea, most of them are the same.
this helped me so mush thank you ;)
This is awesome! Thanks :)
Thanks for you lovely comment! You're welcome :)
Wonderful.
I really like this content
Aw thanks girl! Hope you're well!
I just practiced for about half an hour from a different tutorial, turns out I’ve been practicing it as a left hander 😭😭
Please do more Auslan tutorials.
First day and I’ve learnt up to O
Did you continue learning Auslan? There are some deaf people at my work who sign, so I'm just learning a little bit here and there.

Far in i've been learning ASL, thought it would be the same here😢
Yes please
Wild, so since I'm left handed everything would be flipped and I guess deaf would still somehow understand?
Thank you :)
