While Akaza and Kokushibo are the best antagonist of the series, Douma is the undisputed best villain in this verse.

Kimetsu no yaiba always drives home the point that evil is not born, it is created. Most of the demons in the series are shown to have such tragic back stories. Sure there are exception but this holds true to most demons killed. They suffered a harsh life making them twisted individuals.
Then there is Doma.

Kokusibo broke his samurai code since he was human. He should’ve never been jealous at his younger brother who is overpowered, have resentment, or denounce his own humanity. Just by looking at his monster form made him realize that he was never a samurai.

Key details that add to Akaza past a bit. His techniques are all based on his memories and past as a human. His technique names are based on fireworks because the last significant moment he had with his fiancé, Koyuki, when he was human was seeing fireworks with her. His snowflake compass you see when he activates his techniques is based on Koyuki’s hairpiece. His stance is also based on his shisho’s, Keizou, training at the Soryuu dojo. Keizou is also Koyuki’s father.
Also the reason why Akaza is very good at breaking a katana with his fists is because he taught himself the move “bell breaker” and it was one he was best at. Keizou had learned what the heir of the neighbouring dojo had been treating his daughter Koyuki horribly and challenged their dojo to a duel. This is the same heir who poisoned the well that killed Koyuki and Keizou.
The heir had feelings for Koyuki but also had a violent and arrogant personality and did not approve her marriage to Akaza. Akaza ended up defeating nine people on his own and made the neighbouring dojo swear never to get involved with Koyuki or the Soryuu dojo again. The heir lost his composure and swung a real katana at Akaza but he used bell breaker and broke the sword in half.
It’s really cool to see the origins and the tragic past of his techniques and character.

His name wasn’t always Akaza, he was taken in by Muzan when he was hoping to start the twelve kizuki stuff. And yes, his techniques are largely in part of his history as a human.
The whole lore of every demon is incredibly interesting. I’d say the most tragic is that of Doma. His intents were pure at first but he used his fame to lure humans and murder them.
But everything. The character, the past, all of these things about Akaza are super interesting.

I’m kinda sad that few upper moon actually got outskilled. Akaza killed himself, Douma got tricked and Kokushibo (debatable) let himself die. Also I wish we could’ve seen Kokushibo’s second form. The way they die is quite logical though. They were just insanely powerful and their deaths are accurate to the way they think.
I mean if kokushibo and Akaza carried on it’s most likely they would’ve killed every hashira and muzan would’ve fulfilled his goal
@@drone2539 Yeah for sure. But imagine seeing Kokushibo straight up abandon his humanity instead of clinging to it and go full demon. Maybe we would’ve seen some insane stuff, maybe a moon breathing v2. I’m glad that Muzan actually got outskilled tho. Of all the demons, he was the one to overpower and fight full force.
TBF it took 8 people to beat Daki and Gyutaro. Shinobu was a well skilled Hashira and Inosuke has gained so much since Gyutaro and Daki. It would've been more sad that the people who dedicated and sacrifice their lives to stop these monsters were all in vain.
There’s no debate about Akaza, he blew himself up but started regenerating again but he stopped his regeneration and killed himself. Kokushibo didn’t let himself die, the area where Tokito stabbed him started to burn him to his ash and he was defeated.

I'm a bit ashamed of admitting it but I teared up at Rengoku's death. Inosuke's outburst in attempt to hide his sadness just hit me in the feels in a way I didn't expect. I also teared up with Rui's death scene a bit. Reminds me a little bit of Gaara with a more tragic turn.
Rengoku died with honor. And with a smile on his face to boot. He basically pulled a Will of D.

I just realized something about Douma, Muzan mainly dislikes him because he doesn't care about anything not even him right? Like Douma isn't even scarred of him. Now with that being said lets also think about Douma a bit, despite him being emotionless his entire life was surrounded by him being a child of god or whatever BUT he also had to be pitying people who are trying to escape their miserable lives. Could the same thing also be said that the reason why Muzan dislikes him is because Douma pities him cause he also see's Muzan as someone in need?

Damn poor Akaza 😖 I didn’t even know he tried to fight Muzan so he would’nt become a demon. Such a tragic and sad backstory as well 😣 and even when he was a Demon he never ate children, babies, women and pregnant women. The whole time he wanted to get stronger as a demon but didn’t know why just to realize in the end that everyone he loved and wanted to protect and get stronger for were already dead. Akaza and Gyutaro I feel sorry for the most :( Amazing characters 😭

For Kokushibo, he’s storyline was overall really sad. When I first read manga I cried a little when he died, I felt really sorry for him. It was really touching moment when Kokushibo said that he just wanted to be like his little brother, and this was the BEST last words in the ENTIRE series.
Not only that, but he is the only Upper Moon who regret his entire life from the very beginning, the others are saddened about wrong choices they made in life or stuff outqide of their controll while alive, Michikatsus last thoughts were about wondering why he was even born in the first place, why did he even exist, for in his mind at this point, his very existance was to be solely a failure at everything from the start.
And he is also the only redeemable Upper Moon to die alone, Daki and Ghutaro got each other in hell, Akaza got his wife with him, Kokushibo has no one, because he cut away everyone from his life for the sake of his dream, which was doomed to be a failure from the start

When you realize that in the demon slayer world there are humans and demons. Humans can never surpass a demon in strength or speed and this mostly applies to upper moons..so it is horrifying to think that most of the strongest guys like kokushibo and akaza got defeated because they lost the will to fight
in a scenario that they didn't lose their will to fight tanjiro and all the pillars would've been slaughtered
Humans can certainly surpass a demon, there are literal examples of this, Yoroichi and Himejima are perfect examples of this...

Second I do get your point that if a human got fatally wounded by a demon u can't regenerate yourself as fast or possibly lose your limbs, but again yorrichi was such a good swordsman that it was impossible for demons to even touch him, even muzan wasn't able to scratch him. I do get your point tho

Akaza's death is no doubt my favourite !! They set it up really well and it hit even harder with his backstory being included. Still makes me cry when I reread the battle and I'm really excited for it to be animated. Douma's is probably my second favourite because of the meaning behind his death for our characters !!

Honestly the Upper Moons especially Upper moon 1 were way better villains than Muzan himself. Kokushibo Akaza Daki and Gyutaro are the only demons I have the most sympathy for and like well I like Douma too but i don't have any symphathy for him.

Kokushibo has always been my favorite because I love how hard he tried to become stronger, even going against everything and becoming a demon. He never stopped until the end when he saw what being a demon truly was, and regretted and hated the form he had taken. It seems like every demon regrets themselves in the end and truly wants to go back and try again, to live life a different way than becoming a hideous, but cool, monster.
He is so cool! I love his moon breathing!
But he is no my fav character because he was a jelousy dude who betrayed the slayers, sold his soul to the devil and send his honour like warrior to the trash, even with that he couldnt defeat his old man brother

I feel terrible for literally everyone except Muzan. Kaigaku never knew love and acceptance due to being and orphan and when he got it, he didn't recognise it or never cared because he survived by only caring about himself and he thought it was the only way to truly survive. Gyutaro and Ume(Daki)were treated like dirt since the start, and at the end. They were just two children angry at the world for being so cruel to them. Gyuoko was an orphan and an outcast in his home and it ended up with him becoming a deranged murderer who never knew acceptance and love. Hantengu never got a normal life and was also most likely an undiagnosed schizophrenic with a sevre victim complex, in the end making him the victim of himself. And Akaza never got the life he wanted, WHICH WAS LITERALLY JUST HAVING A PEACEFUL ONE. He was even forced to become a demon and forget his morals. And I honestly feel bad for even Douma to. Imagine being idolised as a child not being able to comprehend it all, plus also living a life with no emotions and bassiclly no moral compass to guide you, it'd be horrible. And don't even get me started on Koukoshibo. He just wanted to live his dream and lost himself in trying to achieve it. And by the time he realised it, there was no time for an honourable death like he most likely would have wanted. (Sebuku, Which is spiritual suicide to redeem honour I think.) So overall, most of these people never got to have a normal life. All I know is, I hate Muzan with every fibre in my being. How dare he use their depravity and desperady against them. Thank you for reading this if you managed to get here. I hope your ok and if you aren't, know that things can and will get better eventually. Things can get better as long as you try. It's crazy to think that if Tengen & Shinobi would have teamed up against douma, they would have most likely killed him quicker. I mean Shinobi was fast enough to dodge & attack him before he can make a move, but since she's too weak to behead a demon, it basically was not much she can do, but considering that Tengen is confirmed to be the fastest & 2nd strongest(physically) Hashira who also has a higher battle IQ due to his background, He would have been able to behead him, while Shinobi could have went in right after and start striking him with as much poison as she can to stop him from regenerating. Yes, if Douma would have actually been trying, he could have killed them. But he was playing the whole time & Tengen would have definitely taken advantage of that.
Douma was surprised by Shinobu, she wasn't outright faster than him. Remember when Douma cut the girl apart that Shinobu was certain she managed to get away or when he had cleaved her open with a casual hit, Shinobu wasn't able to react to either of these showing that she wasn't faster than him as her reaction speed wasn't able to keep up with him. An Shinobu has the fastest thrusting speed, literally throwing her whole body behind her attack. Tengen was the fastest hashira in running but he was getting matched in speed by Gyutaro who is massively slower and weaker than Douma so already his speed and strength isn't gonna be of much help. Now lets move to battle intelligence, Douma clears both Tengen and Shinobu easily. Him simply using his ability to freeze his blood and spread it around him to tear lungs is literally the smartest combat move seen in the entire manga outside Hantengu making multiple of himself and hiding his real form. An neither Shinobu or Tengen have a way to avoid his lung tearing blood. Only Kanao and Inosuke were able to via her special eyes and his special skin, which is why both of these things were literally brought up by Douma in his fight. Lastly(as this has gotten long), Douma did all his moves against both Shinobu and Kanao and Inosuke at snails pace, showing he wasn't even using his full speed the entire fight. We know this because when he was finally succumbing to the poison he summoned the Water Lily in the blink of Kanao eyes, stopping both her and Inosuke in their tracks and eventually catching them both with the weakened summon. If either Shinobu or Tengen proved even slightly troublesome(interesting) he'll summon a clone (the clone that could handle both Kanao and Inosuke by itself, and we get via Douma's thoughts that he was holding the clone back). They would badly lose this fight as Douma may be more incentivized to use more power which would end with him leaving his room and assisting his fellow demons!

tengen would’ve been absolutely disgusted by him leading to him and shinobu being marked, but I still believe douma’s final blood demon art would have overturned them if he just kept on doing it.
If only akaza met an ubayishiki instead of muzan at the lowest point of his life, he could have been the iron fist hashira (nichirin knuckles)
It's crazy that Kaiguku lead that demon to kill his friends and Gyomei to save his own life
The worst part is that he didn’t even have to listen to the demon. If he stayed inside(near the wisteria) he would’ve been safe from the demon and it wouldn’t be able to come inside.
@@Anonymous-du4gb to be fair, the other kids drove him outside when it was literally night to leave him to get killed by demons but the kids lied to gyomei and told him that Kaigaku was late and didn't come back by sunset, any kids who have a grudge would want revenge dont you think so? And he survived anyways so his goal was complete

That should tell you that the hadhiras of this generation are literal beasts. And it was also due to the planning of ubyashaki to gather all the demons at one place and have an all out battle once and for all

@@abdullahkhan-ol9ee nah mate akaza and kokushibo let themselves die ;-; Gyutaro probably would have defeat Tengen if daki wasn't there plus kaigaku was the only replacement for gyutaro and daki at the time of their defeat Gyokko was because he underestimated muichiro and then Hantengu died cuz the hatred emotion wasn't at full power and doma died cuz shinobu was stacking some poision for a year inside her body

Daki and gyutaro died due to getting to cocky.
Gyokko died due to letting his guard down.
Kaigaku got bested by Zenitsu.
Hatengu was bested by the group at the hidden swordsmith village.
Doma was outsmarted by Shinobu leading to his defeat at the hands of Kanao and Inosuke.
Kokushibo had a temporary mental breakdown after seeing his appearance allowing the hashira fighting him to inflict so much damage that he could no longer regenerate his body.
Akaza recovering his own memories decided to take himself out and admit his defeat, breaking free of the control Muzan had him under, and being the only one to not die as a monster.
As for what I think of their deaths.
Akaza was the most tragic followed by Daki and Gyutaro with them basically forced into their situation to become demons and in Akaza's case literally forced against his will.
Doma's was the most satisfying followed by Kaigaku. Doma forcing his own ideals onto others and believing he's giving them salvation by eating them before they die, and Kaigaku a traitor who can't accept sharing a position with Zenitsu.
Kokushibo I feel pity for as he died not wanting to accept defeat and questioning why he was never able to surpass his brother despite throwing everything he thought was an obstacle away and not wanting to admit he had become a monster being dragged to he'll without anyone by his side as he had pushed them all away.
The others I don't really have anything for other than Hatengu was a dirty coward, and Gyokko was an insane artist who both got what they deserved.

I want to see how Uzui’s fight with Gyutaro would’ve gone if he never got poisoned. My man was nerfed for the entirety of that fight, whilst taking an unreal amount of damage on top that. Not saying it would’ve been a walk in the park, but it would be an interesting sight.

@@Poisonedwight A nerf is something that "causes to be weak or ineffective." Another persons power CAN nerf someone else. The poison caused Uzui to be weaker / less effective so by definition the poison in his system was a nerf

@@fluhx9246 I know... Hantengu didn't show his full potential power. Because the hashiras didn't want to hit the emotions to make them multiply even more, so the final emotion form could've be stronger. That's the reason why he hold upper moon 4 ranked for a reason

As for me, Akaza and Gyutaro-Daki is the saddest for me, I don't want to talk about Akaza past here, But for Gyutaro-Daki the part that make me crying is when Gyutaro cover Ume in a snow, you can tell He's a great brother to Ume, that's why she love him so much

I love how Nakime is the last surviving demon. I don't think it's anticlimactic; I love Youshiro's involvement (he's able to MENTALLY challenge Muzan!!!) and Muzan's ultimate display of cruelty, by sacrificing his loyal servant (and the last renaming Upper) like it was nothing. to him, she WAS nothing, like all the others.
To be fair him sticking his hands into a stronger. Demon's head should have caused her to start absorbing him right from the get go. He should have died doing that if we're trying to be consistent

Honestly, Rengoku and Akaza both take my number 1 spot for my favorite demon slayer characters. Rengoku's short yet impactful effect on Tanjiro and Akaza's backstory just hit different.
Kokushibo's jealously may come from his awful father, his father always expects him to do better and be the best because if he's not then he's worthless. Kokushibo definitely loves his brother more than he realizes, he protected Yoriichii from his abusive father multiple times and still kept the flute that he made for Yoriichii to the very end. The problem was that when his father realizes that Yoriichii was stronger than Kokushibo he sent people to find Yoriichii so that might have broke Kokushibo a bit. He was about to be replaced by his brother because he was weaker than him. And as far as I know the mother wasn't very close with Kokushibo as she was with Yoriichii.

I have to say Rui was my favorite moon demon. He was just a little kid I feel bad for him. Even though he did unspeakable acts at the end of it he was remorseful and you kinda just wanna give him a hug.
My favorite upper moon is Douma impeccable in looks he was the most easy on eyes of the demons and I love how genius his take down was. He deserved so much worse tho I wish he would have suffered more.
Daki, Gyutaro and Akaza are the only upper moons I actually feel sorry for and would want to see have a chance of redemption and reincarnation.
Daki and Gyutaro had hard lives as children since birth. The fact they had to be in the red light district just to survive is really sad. I feel like if Gyutaro and Daki had been in a more loving family, they wouldn't have suffered.
Akaza had sacrificed alot just to get by. He stole to get Medicine for his father. And his father, feeling that he'd rather die and let Akaza live a better life, decided to kill himself was hard enough. But then after living with his sensei and being engaged to his fiance, he finally had a second chance of life. But after they were poisoned and killed, he felt there was no reason to keep going.
I really want to see if Tanjiro could smell the emotion that Akaza felt when he smiled and decided to die. I want to know so badly what Tanjiro thought in the moment or if he could sense how Akaza felt as he died. This was never clarified in the manga and it actually makes me mad.
But at the end of the manga series, the fact that his descendant actually hopes the demons that were killed could have a second chance of life, kinda shows Tanjiro's feelings through the future generations.
I feel more for Gyutaro cause Ume had some chance of getting a better life thanks to her appearance but being around Gyutaro may have ruined that chance and he feels that way about it. Gyutaro never had a chance at anything in fact the only good thing he ever got was his sister.
Im with you with akaza, if only he met an ubayashiki at the lowest point of his life instead of muzan, he could have been the iron fist hashira (nichirin knuckles).

Yea I feel the same, I always hear people say that Akaza backstory is extremely sad, but for me it’s Gyutaro & Daki, the picture of them as kids in the snow with Gyutaro keeping Daki warm is seared into my mind. Demon Slayer has got such a great story of the importance of family & friendship, I absolutely love the Manga.
And then how the Mangaka made me like Akaza after absolutely hating him initially for killing Rengoku was wonderful, and how he ended his own life was wonderful.

My favourites are the opposite of most people's favorites. I don't care about Kokushibo or Akaza; I love Hantengu and Douma. Hantengu's power to split into emotion-based fragments is super creative, and Douma's backstory (intertwined with Inosuke's), sociopathic nature and amazing ice powers (that Buddha!!!) are mindblowing to me.
same lol. I always felt myself drawn or looking towards scenes where Douma was present. he was very different from the other demons imo.
I love Hantengus resentment form. If that was his general appearance I'd adore him but I just don't like his old man design

Nahhh fam two demons reached almost immortality: Akaza and Kokushibo. Think about it, those two died on their OWN WILL and both didn’t sort of crave human flesh(unless they needed too) but just imagine if those two weren’t affected by the sun?
Tbf it’s clear akaza resisted his urges to eat human flesh (Hence not eating women) but we don’t know about Kokushibo i wager he doesn’t have the same feelings as Akaza about ignoring his human flesh urges.
I think that douma could grow his neck back if he wasn’t poisoned

However, in those 100+ years, Uppers would've challenged and killed each other to go up the ladder. We'll never know which Uppers Douma defeated to become #2. Did he battle Gyokko, Hantengu, t be ranked above them? I think he defeated Akaza and that is actually mentioned in canon.
Is it about arbitrary decisions by Muzan? Why did he make Kaigaku #6, instead of #5? Were there plans for a replacement #5? It feels weird that they backfilled #4 and #6 but left #5 empty.
If he beat akaza they would mention it
