Living in Kuala Lumpur | Moving in to our apartment

- We moved to Malaysia from New York City. Mark got a job and I left my job as an ER nurse in NYC. We stayed in airbnbs for a few weeks while we looked for a condo. We checked out a few neighborhoods until we found one we liked. We found this condo through our agent Caryn from Kith and Kin Realty.
It was a bit of a challenge at first as we needed to open a Malaysian bank account, transfer money, and send the deposit before we could move in. Well have more on that on a later video. Just give yourself plenty of time, as the system of opening a bank account and transferring money takes time here.
We slept in our condo that same night we closed. It was already clean and moved in ready, as the owners made a a final cleaning. The couch and bed were steamed cleaned before we moved in.
We did supply shopping at Ikea, Mid Valley Mall and our local grocery. We also squeezed in a visit to the newly opened Shake Shack in TRX mall.
It's my(Sheila) first official video. Thanks for watching. I still have a lot to learn, and I'm sure I'll get better next time.

Hard to tell you both looks like local close resemblance which figure out is Maxicanos. Welcome and enjoy your living here in Malaysia 👍
Thank you, we get that a lot in southeast Asia. Even in the Philippines they don't think we're from there.
Yes they do 😂
Blending in well.
Hi there... ER nurse is quite in demand here. Why not try sending your resume to the many private hospital here in KL. Good luck.
Thank you. I'll keep that in mind. 😊
Malaysia (kl) is value for money. We are a melting pot like NYC but cheaper.
Abang ni rajin ya, jadi ambassador malaysia 😂 i spot your comment everywhere
Ahh. We were wondering why several people have mentioned that. You're right. It is quite diverse, and we love how everyone has respect for each other.
Detergent - Dynamo. Fabric softener - Downy. Dish washing liquid - GLO. Floor cleaner - AJAX. For kitchen cleaning (steel) - CIF. Sponge - Scotch Brite. Hope the list helps.
Oh wow! Thank you so much! It was overwhelming at first not knowing what brands to choose. 😊
@@Married2Travelthe ones mentioned above are all not eco friendly, just thought to convey that information as well :)
congratulations =) finally , enjoy
Thank you 😊
welcome to Malaysia. Get along and make friends with the locals. That will make your life easier in the future. We, Malaysians are friendly people.

Your assistance please . . . the nearest train station would appear to be KL Gateway - Universiti (per GMaps). How far is that, walking time?
Where are you going to?.
@@Married2Travel into the city.

Buy a small trolley, it is great help to carry things to home.😅
You're right. I'm going to need to. Thanks.
You're in Malaysia... there's much better food options than Shake Shack! 🤣
You're right, but Mark loves his shake shack burgers even in NY.
@@Married2Travel I've seen a few reviews... and they are not very positive. LOL .. is it as good here as the NY one?
