    Another great video! I must say, the people parked up on the sides of the road, especially on the outside of some corners right in the firing line, is quite a distraction while driving. I know I always leave more margin there. Can’t wait until the next trip in the spring!

      In making this I discovered it was Rotaryfest 2023 and Touge Fest 2023 that weekend . . . . As well as other events. You even got a wave in at Henry as he drove past while making this video - ua-cam.com/video/RPReRUOZ014/v-deo.htmlsi=WR1THBSpQH3ufGcR

    Cool video. To be honest, the 3.4 sounds better than the 4.0. Amazing.

      The 981 has a soul performance exhaust - it sounds excellent! The 4.0 is stock and may be ready for some enhancements! Thanks for watching!

    A couple of comments. I have driven the Dragon numerous times on a motorcycle and your focus Must be unrelenting - stay true to your line! Second, you must Always assume that the turn ahead will be obstructed, either by oncoming lane encroachment or worst case big trucks on the road that are forbidden. Last, I have recently done hot laps in a GT4 4.0 PDK and while I love shifting, that PDK is amazing! I will soon have that car, and the Dragon will be a main destination. Thanks for the video and the scoring - well done.

      Really appreciate the comment! The Dragon is amazing but a lot of people are out there pushing it to the edge and some go past it as you point out. Let me know when you get the GT4 and maybe we’ll see you out there!

    This is awesome, and very cool perspective given. Only did the Dragon twice, in it was a 2008 4Runner with x3 bikes hanging off the hitch. Came up rather unexpectedly but I sure did enjoy it. Would be awesome to do it in Porsche one day

      Sounds like a run in a Porsche would be an improvement for you, but cool that you saw the Dragon from the SUV perspective. Thanks tor the comment and see you next time!

    I only go on the Dragon on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Even then it's a crapshoot as to what kind of traffic/drivers you'll get.

      This video was shot on a weekend with three event going on - it was crazy as you could see. Tons of spectators and endless lines of cars. We were lucky to get the clear road we did.

    Did y'all run the Cherohala Skyway that starts right where the Dragon starts as well? Unless you're on a sport bike I actually prefer it. It's a bit wider and instead of being at the bottom of valleys it's on the side of a mountain so you can see off the side. Also, curves aren't quite as tight so it's more 2-3 gears than 1-2. Less traffic as well.

    Oh wow , you guys unfortunately went during a crazy busy weekend, spring tougefest + DGRR + pride at the dragon were all going on. I was there for tougefest and on Saturday I just gave up on trying to get runs in until after ~6pm 😆

    Do you agree with how this road was ranked compared to the others? On a clear traffic day - its hard to beat the Dragon, but then again, its hard to find a clear traffic day.

    • @lowcountrydawg2525
      @lowcountrydawg2525 Рік тому +1

      Best time of year to get a clear road is Winter. Catch it on one of those Jan/Feb/March days when it's too cold for motorcycles but still warm enough for Summer tires.

      I love the tail for sure. Bucket list should be an 11. 😂. But I would have rated it lower on the traffic/overtaking score. Probably lower on pavement too. Getting a bit ragged in some spots lately. NC 215 would at least be higher in my books, but such an awesome video by TrueView.👍

    • @trueview3127
      @trueview3127  Рік тому

      @user-ei2ou8bb1e Thanks for the feedback! I was torn on traffic but decided to give it the rating it would have on a non peak day - along with that advice. NC215 is glorious for sure. Great climbing turns! Cheers and see you again soon.

    Bucket list drive. As someone said here, probably drive it in the winter. Though not sure about a FL car on summer tires on cold pavement….is snow common up there?

    • @trueview3127
      @trueview3127  Рік тому

      Snow is pretty infrequent but does happen through late fall until early spring! If you go when it’s colder, aim for a warmer day - don’t want to slide off! You see how easy that happens in the video. Thanks for watching!

    Solid, got my sub. If you area heading to SW Wisconsin let me know. The Driftless area of Wisconsin has some potential. It isn't the best at anything, and doesn't have the total elevation but the diversity is pretty awesome. The great Peter Egen moved to this area and has written often about the enthusiast driving roads on offer. It is easy to weave a 500 mile day with wonderful breweries, architecture, and Windows XP background landscapes. Just don't tell anyone about it, there is little to no sporting traffic and the best loops have barely been documented. My favorite thing about the area is the ability to go from tight b roads to high speed cruising USA type roads. ua-cam.com/video/3LtpHpIrO3U/v-deo.html

      Thanks for the comment and welcome aboard. I have always wanted to see the roads out there, and your channel has some cool perspectives and nice telemetry too! One of these days, when I can just focus on driving, I plan a trip west and will have to swing through!

  • @Poorschedriver
    @Poorschedriver Рік тому +2

    I've never driven it so my opinion doesn't hold a lot of merit, but it kind of seems like if an autocross track were a road. I'd still love to drive it as a sort of automotive pilgrimage, I feel like it's a right of passage. It's just too bad there arent' a couple of really good straights to act as a palette cleanser. Obviously the dragon is a victim of its own success with all of that traffic, and that certainly poses a safety concern. I always think something like that supra incident would just be some dumbass being negligent, but a little understeer or a mechanical issue could be a seriously bad day. And the people parked in the pull offs on the corners! nope nope nope. Great video guys, but seems a little too sketchy for me unless it's 5AM.

    • @trueview3127
      @trueview3127  Рік тому +2

      We value your opinion sir - as the aim of the video is to show it like it is! As for why the incident occurred, it’s hard to say for sure, but there isn’t much room for error either way and with almost everybody pushing it, mechanicals are that much more consequential. I am glad you noticed the carnival atmosphere - which it does have for sure. I am always amazed by the people who hang in hammocks just feet from the Apex! As always - appreciate the comment!
