For you bow users out there, the fully upgraded teostra bow works pretty well. The pierce shot at charge level 1 can easily hit their backs and proc blasts, in which you'll need around 2-3 blasts to beak them. You don't really need armour skills or anything, in fact, you can do it naked just fine.

My wife plays exclusively light bowgun (so we are gonna have to go get that metroid gun on 7-Eleven later) and hates to as she says "足を引っ張る" so she aims to survive first and foremost. Would you say Narga S that we are aiming for now is the best? Or should we go for the special ticket Narga / something else? As a side-note, im assuming you live in the Tokyo area and have quite enough people to play with irl? :P

I know right? I discovered how diverse and big are bowguns in 4U endgame, and I loved them. Now with bushido and aerial, arts, and the new ammo, these things sure must be a new world. Since I can't grab them and main them myself yet, Gaijin's tutorials will work as great demonstrations.
If you're having rotten luck like me with Ukanlos Stone and Rajang Nerve drops, this is still doable with Arm Cannon 2. It has 10 less raw, 12 light shots, and two loaded at a time, but you can switch to the lightning pierce shots (also built in) and that should do the job. I found a great fashion hunter build with Ammo Depot +1 OOO too: Barrage Earring Seltas EX Brachydios EX Brachydios Bnahabra Match the color and it looks really cool!

+Deion B it's a quest VS a large Garuga in the underground volcano, gives you materials to make it. The quest is only available first at 7-11 here but people host it regularly. It'll be made available for everyone later as well.
Using a full Astalos set with the Khezu Syringe Lv 4, you can also finish the quest using nothing but the internal Thunder Pierce S Lv 2 and break his back.
4:00 (2nd skill from the top) It's interesting that the Japanese writing for what got translated into Bonus Shot has a +1 after the characters. It sort of implies that there's going to be a +2, probably for G-Rank.
Hey Gaijin Hunter, was it difficult to learn Japanese? I really want to pick up the language as it would make understanding the game much easier but it could also open a few doors latter in life XD but I don't really know how to tackle it or where to even begin :( please if you have some tips they would be much appreciated :)

In other words, there will be several new MH releases before you are able to understand any of them, so don't expect to be able to understand this game before a western release/new MH game. Have you ever tried frontier? if so, did you like it? I didn't. I feel like there is always some imbalance between either the players or the monster. Either the hunters are stun locking it and completely destroying it or the monster gets a single attack out and carts the whole team, this is especially an issue with the end game. Also i feel as if the main series actually tries to innovate. Frontier is basically freedom unite for godsake

Tri and 3U had nice additions to that engine monster behavior wise and 4U had nice gameplay additions that din't break the game too much from the original. Mounting being the only big change. MHX ruins it for me though. Innovation is nice but when you change the core gameplay too much you end up making mistakes and alot of it the mistakes were about combat aswell as the overall theme of the game. Just look at the ending credits and you want to punch your eyes out. :D But yeah Capcom atleast tries to make the series more enjoyable for masses. But it's not always a good idea either. To be honest I'm still loving MH1, MHdos & Unite alot more than anything, but I might be bias on that aspect. As for Frontier personally I have not played it but what I've seen and what you say seems to be correct. Alot of the new monsters added especially have crazy attacks and you still see people hacking & slashing their way into victory maybe using a potion or two. In frontier especially the whole idea of hunting a monster seems more like a hack&slash festival more than the original games. Revonlieke that's fine. I'm interested to see what others think about it too. i think mhx is fine to an extent. I enjoy the addition of the hunter arts and hunter styles because it adds a lot more variety to play. Hopefully there isn't any that are just flat out better then the other, though. As long as they aren't super op which by what i've seen. I don't think they are since the powerful ones can take a long time to charge up.

+RipVan Saix There's a quest in 4U that puts you against a Najarala. The subquest is to break its head, so simply mount it a couple times with an Insect Glaive and you're done. It's the go-to quest for farming Large Wyvern Gems. So yes, it can easily be done in 4U as well.
tried this method again 2 monster parts that's it... do you also need to break multiple parts or something? ironic thing is to get the canon to full you 1 ukanlos gem for the 3rd upgrade of the arm cannon gonna just comple this one as it seems a waste of time & resources however the full set maybe better but it's not a simple case of completing the S either more parts need breaking or you need full set up as mentioned

However now that have said arm cannon 3 Maybe I should give it another go? Since I'm avoiding my favourite weapons in my MHX playthrough, I'm now sad that I'm missing out on cool features like these special shots. At least it's something I can look forward to when I play the game again since... The method of DLC in Japan is so strange, it's like the way Pokemon events used to be. I'm wondering how common it will be to find folks doing the quest online to get the weapon? I'm so glad that the localised versions just release the DLC quests on a monthly basis. All the more reason for #MHXForTheWest. Also, since Gaijin is looking forward to PS4 games this year, has he played WiiU games? Has Gaijin tried out Xenoblade Chronicles X? It has a few similarities to Monster Hunter, mechanics wise and the reward ticket system saves the grindyness of that game. Now if only MH had something like that too.
Now if only I wasn't too scared of playing with gunner weapons. They just seem way too complicated for me. I hope your tutorial on them will clear things up for me.

just here to tell my bowgun armor set (just my personal opinion some are heavily talisman depend) Blast BG: you get: Artillery Expert, Ammo Saver, Normal Up, Load Up Trueshot Up. Barrage Earring + Ceanataur Vest R + Seltas Guards + Seltas Coat + Arc Leggings S + Talisman: Normal Up & Ammo Save 5 ooo. Jewelries: gem 3 Artillery (optional and only works if you have a 3 slot weapon like lost musket) 5 Irregular gem for Trueshot Up (must have) For Element Bowgun: you get: that element Atk +2, Ammo Saver, Normal Up, Load Up Trueshot Up. Barrage Earring + Ceanataur Vest R + Ceanataur Guards s + Vaik Coat s + Arc Leggings S + Talisman: Normal Up 5 & that Element Atk 10+ (you have 3 slot of the talisman + weapon so you don't need alot point) ooo (if you have slot in weapon and good Atk point then you don't need that many slot). Jewelries: 5 Irregular gem for Trueshot Up (must have) rest in the element you are using gem what u need

I see; you have to look for and join other RAGE GARUGA event quests that only those in Japan have access to. Each quest gives one special metroid coin. EDIT: I see you need 6 coins to make the full LBG. Make sure to break Garugas back+tail to get subquest for extra coins!
just tried this with full Metroid set only got 1 caprace & 1 shovel jaw can't say I'm very impressed but will try again solo as others didn't realise that I was subquesting & room name was called subquesting? I even said complete via subquest
+Riku Savato not always no, but it does charge fast. Inner light shot with +20% damage means it charges the gauge fast, it is like 2x more powerful than a normal LV2 rapid volley
I've been having a pretty easy time using the Teo bow and eating for pyro. Probably a bit less consistent since you have to worry about range and a meal, but akantor runs can take barely a minute if everything goes smoothly.

How do you unlock the R gear anyway? I'm at HR7, but haven't done my HR Unlock Urgent just yet. Is that when the R equipment unlocks?

It has a few similarities to Monster Hunter, mechanics wise and the reward ticket system saves the grindyness of that game. Now if only MH had something like that too.

Blast BG: you get: Artillery Expert, Ammo Saver, Normal Up, Load Up Trueshot Up.
Barrage Earring + Ceanataur Vest R + Seltas Guards + Seltas Coat + Arc Leggings S + Talisman: Normal Up & Ammo Save 5 ooo.
Jewelries:
gem 3 Artillery (optional and only works if you have a 3 slot weapon like lost musket) 5 Irregular gem for Trueshot Up (must have)
For Element Bowgun: you get: that element Atk +2, Ammo Saver, Normal Up, Load Up Trueshot Up.
Barrage Earring + Ceanataur Vest R + Ceanataur Guards s + Vaik Coat s + Arc Leggings S + Talisman: Normal Up 5 & that Element Atk 10+ (you have 3 slot of the talisman + weapon so you don't need alot point) ooo (if you have slot in weapon and good Atk point then you don't need that many slot).
Jewelries: 5 Irregular gem for Trueshot Up (must have) rest in the element you are using gem what u need

To get the Metroid quest, you need to search fro Yangaruga.
I highly recommend bow users to sub farm with teostra's bow of light and courage because blast vs akantor/ukanlos is very fast
Today I finally upgraded the Arm Cannon X but I am still making that armor. I`ll also make the Arm cannon an excue to start playing gunner. Maybe I might go G in MHXX (if it comes to the west) with GL and LBW.
Other way: Use any set, and when you run out of dazzling shots, use pierce thunder, which is internal ammo.
Not only does this strategy not cost any money because it only uses internal ammo, but it also can be done with any level of the metroid LBG.

I see; you have to look for and join other RAGE GARUGA event quests that only those in Japan have access to. Each quest gives one special metroid coin. EDIT: I see you need 6 coins to make the full LBG. Make sure to break Garugas back+tail to get subquest for extra coins!

This method is slow! Use element coating lvl2 with teo bow. Takes 20 seconds or about 5 shots to break back since blast does 300 damage to Akantor.
You can get the loading super skill in 2 volleys? What the fuck xD So you never reload normally if you have that skill?
+Riku Savato not always no, but it does charge fast. Inner light shot with +20% damage means it charges the gauge fast, it is like 2x more powerful than a normal LV2 rapid volley

I've been having a pretty easy time using the Teo bow and eating for pyro. Probably a bit less consistent since you have to worry about range and a meal, but akantor runs can take barely a minute if everything goes smoothly.
