  • How to build an organic pool (natural pool) in 3 minutes. An organic pool uses plants and animals to keep the water clean and healthy without the use of added chemicals. A pool for swimming and a wilderness for wildlife.
    This plunge pool is 6m by 8m in total with a 2m deep swimming zone of 4m by 2m.
    This is a quick romp through my DIY film to give you a good idea of how to build a small natural pool. Find more info and Free pdf on organicpools.co.uk

      You can have the plants take care of the filtering. You can put a solar pump on a diffuser to keep algae from growing. You can have fish and crustaceans take care of the solid waste. That'll be fed back to the plants.

      Certain plants and animals are used so that doesn't happen. It seems odd and unbelievable, but I have a friend in Costa Rica who built a natural pool like this. The water is always clean. I never really asked him what plants and animals he uses, just amazed it is possible.

    • @230jjordan
      @230jjordan 8 років тому +29

      The water would still need to be changed frequently to reduce the rising nitrates in the water. Also, no matter how many plants and fish you have, the substrate and bottom of the pool will be a breeding ground for anaerobic bacteria. I would not advise to swim regularly.

    Amazing work! Looking forward to building my own natural pool sometime.
    I see a lot of negative comments here which stem from ignorance, what most of these people fail to realise is that this is so much healthier to swim in compared to chlorinated pools and maintains itself through natural processes. That's what the planting is for.
    Please try and leave your artificial bubbles and get out there in the wild, swim in natural watering holes, lakes and rivers; you'll absolutely love it. Cheers!
    A word of advice - I understand this vid is a compilation from more detailed videos, but you might want to do a voiceover for this one as the audio cuts in awkward places can be a little frustrating.

    Cool to see how many people are afraid of nature. The thing that is eating our brains is not bacteria but television. :)
    And yes, there is a risky thing about nature- but cars are far more dangerous and we do walk the streets of big cities. If you live, you take risks, but knowledge is power. So get to know the snakes that live in your region and react appropriate to the ones that show up.
    Apart from that feedback to #society I would like to show my appreciation to the person that made the video. It's showing the steps he chose and it turns out to be a good manual. Greetings!

      yeah his "purify" thing is just a sponge with algae growing on it, it's a fucking joke, the pool his son swam in "in his floating filter video" obvious had a ridiculously high amount of chlorine, and whoever owns or runs the pool needs to do a PH test, because chlorine burns means its way to much chlorine
      source: worked for a water park and we did these tests DAILY, once in the morning at park open, and once at night before we went home., and how the test is done, get a small jar of pool water, and use a paper strip, if it turns green it's fine, it it turns pink there way to much chlorine

    For those who dont know, humans have been swimming in ponds/rivers for centuries, amoebas live in stagnant water, true but when u add fishes to the pond, their fry and smaller fish species will quickly eat any amoebas, also the ammonia of the fish and other species's waste is quickly absorbed by the plants thus providing a nice biological filter. Personally, i wouldnt mind swimming in this pond, but i would probably not dip my head inside just to be safe.

    • @Garybaws

    • @mtovarteach
      @mtovarteach 4 роки тому

      I Completely agree, its just that you said you would swim in it cause you think it's safe but not dip you head in it. So, obviously you don't think it's completely safe. Yes people have swum in rivers and lakes forever but people have also died from diseases due to swimming in them. We had a 12yr. old die hours after swimming in a similar pond as the one in this video.

    • @mtovarteach
      @mtovarteach 4 роки тому

      The child that died was not my child but I said we because he was a student from our school.

    • @Garybaws
      @Garybaws 4 роки тому +1

      @@mtovarteach its safe as in for skin contact, no water in the world is safe enough for you to swallow or inhale, people have died from swallowing beach water and even swallowing chlorinated water (chlorine poisoning), so at the end of the day if its not sterile water, theres always a risk putting ur head inside the water, micro organisms other than amoebas tend not to be as dangerous, and usually a good biological filter in the pond can even match the safety of a regular pool, they might fluctuate in terms of safety tho just as any chlorinated pools, thats why they test the water daily. The 12 year old you're referring to could have been in a stagnant pool with no fishes, no oxygen,etc. and those ponds can be very risky as they are populated with decomposing bacteria and parasites

    I dont get it? Why do many negative comments. I mean I get the whole "pond" assumption but the guy just showed us how to build it and I'd say he did a fine job. It's pretty, man made and I assume he knows what he's doing. As for the video editing, I will admit, it could use some work.
