people saying the drawing doesn't look like the photograph....Its called REFERENCE, its a jumping of point. If this was Sight Size drawing then a verbatim representation would be expected.

Nah they are chinese artist they are like top 3 or 2 in the world versus Russian and maybe England or France like what are you trying ti show off . The painting is about emotion and you dont have to always follow the rule is must look like the picture . If you want look just like the picture then use your phone it does better job for sure

The face in the resulting drawing has far more character and is more interesting than the original image. Did the student take artistic liberties? Or does he need to take more time to get the proportions right? I've seen a few of these sketch videos, I think in something like a portrait it's important to get the proportions right, cause you want to get the unique sitter's expression just right, and you need the proportions down pat in order to do that. Otherwise what's the value in a portrait? Anybody can just draw anybody. Also, the attention to detail is a bit anal.
We all see things differently anyway. Good art always expresses the unique perspective of the artist as well as representing the subject. That's what makes art so interesting.
