Are these sumps only good for plastic tanks or good for steel tanks too...I have a 1995 f250 w steel...Thanks..I thought it would work but better ask..
Have you guys ran I to any issues with the beans diesel sumps (only having one opening in the interior plate) or the ones like these (with 2 openings) compared to ones like the one fass makes that takes 21 holes in the tank but is completely open at the top? Any one considered better than the other?
Personally I think these pump and sump companies should supply a plate to replace the pump that way if we want we can buy it and take our pump out and put the cover plate in the top where the oem pump goes. Just makes it alot cleaner looking
The returned fuel is loaded with air bubbles that you want directed away from the pickup not right on top of the fuel pickup. The idea behind a air/water separater is to remove these things. Feeding fuel with air into the filter and pump will make the pump and filter work harder.
What did I pay $700 for a FASS system that marketed to get all the Water, Air, & Particulate our of my fuel if it can’t even filter a chunk of plastic, your saying that huge chunk is going to get though a water separator, a 5 micron filter, my factory fuel filter and then though my CP4 and lodged in my injectors?
MrAviator27365 the plastic bits could cause your new lift pump damage....notice in their reply it says “The shavings could pass through the lift pump and cause it harm.”.....not the CP4. But your CP4 would prob be toast if your fass died.
Can I use this on my 03 Dodge Ram 3500 6 speed manual I’m getting a fleece delete and a fass 165 do I need anything else I do have the pump behind the filter under the hood do I need a convert kit or any else to do the job thanks jysonphillips
Yes you can use it on the 03’s with the in tank pumps. That’s actually what they originally were designed for was to keep you from having to drop the tank for installation. With what you mentioned there, sounds like you have everything you need.
Truck is not retrofitted left pump behind fuel filter I have ordered the gr sump and fleece delete it with the 165 fass thanks and sorry for so many questions
Yes, using a sump in most instances will require you to have an aftermarket lift pump such as a FASS or Airdog. That being said, I think that a sump is a nice addition to a stock truck as well as it gives you the ability to drain the tank quickly if needed.
No, the power supply to the lift pump is a different wire set in the harness that is independent of the float. As long as you don’t unhook the main harness to you basket you will be good.
Not 100% sure on that. Usually the tank itself will indicate if it has a wave break just based on the flow of the outside walls. If you see indentations in the side of the tank then good chance there is something inside of those indentations that the sump should stay clear of.
No lube on the clamp oring?
Nice catch, that oring does need lube on installation.
Just a quick comment on your future products just add a (s) stamp for suction and a (R) stamp for your return.
My thoughts as well.
Thanks for the video, for sure helps with some things to look out for during the project.
Glad to help. 🍻

It's about time!
Can’t the current fuel return be retained?

Still need level sending unit.

So how do you go about your old lift pump still in the tank? Will it still pump fuel? What about the old return line?
Where is the fuel strainer. the all OEM pickups have one so no heavy junk gets sucked up?
Wouldn’t the lift pump filters get the plastic shavings before they ever made it to the injection system?
The shavings could pass through the lift pump and cause it harm. Safest to try to get as many of the shavings out as you can.

How would the plastic make it to the injection system if you are installing a nice filter system?
Filters should catch it but we always treat an install as if there isn’t a filter upstream, keep it clean the first time you do it.
Should have put the pump back in so we can see how fits over the sump .. ty
This work for metal tank?
When you install the G&R sump, is there anything you need to do to the stock pick up assembly?
So Beans sump or GnR sump opinions?
Both excellent choices.
Off topic, my dpf tank fell off. Does some one make a fuel tank for that spot ?
Check with Transfer Flow
What year ram did you do this on. I have a 2011 2500 curious if it’s the same
The tank was out of a 2005 Dodge that we had in the shop for education purposes.
@@thoroughbreddiesel ok thanks for the reply. My 2011 looked a little tighter on space so I ended up modifying the sending unit and placing it under
Wished you would of used orb outlet fittings instead of pipe thread.
Why are the inlet and return not marked?
You can use either or, but if you use the stand up for the return, there is only 1 way that it can go.

I have a pump in the tank also not sure

I’m sorry I have the lift pump behind my filter under the hood so in this case do I need to drop it still

How would I know which is my return line
If its coming from a aftermarket lift pump it will be marked tank on the pump.
What is the hole saw diameter recommended?
1 inch.
G&r, black market performance or fass fuel filter system?
I can't believe they didn't mark the return vs supply??
Do the 2nd gen vp44 fuel tanks have a wave break or anything to try and avoid. Other than the intank fuel sender.
Do you have to have a fass system or the other system you said? Or can the stock lift pump do the job? Thank you for any info

Whats going to happen whith the in tank pump... if you cut of power supply wont the the fuel level floater stop working too?
No, the power supply to the lift pump is a different wire set in the harness that is independent of the float. As long as you don’t unhook the main harness to you basket you will be good.
Would you recommend one of these for a Kubota tractor?
If you have a plastic tank and are running a aftermarket lift pump, possibly. These were not designed for Ag use however.
Do the 2nd gen trucks have a wave break in the tanks? I have a 02 dodge 3500 and I just ordered a air dog 165 and a beans dual sump.

@@thoroughbreddiesel The correct answer is no.
Tomato or Tomāto
Wave Break or Baffle
How much and do I use that with air dog g4
