I’ve ridden that bike a lot, your shifter is in the wrong position, make sure the output shaft and the connection lever are at exactly 90 degrees. Also, that machine requires frequent oil changes or I would notice missed shifts. I changed oil about every 1000 miles using only motul 300v. Kept it shifting perfectly

I loved my duc, but I was doing equal maintenance time to riding time to keep it tip top.
