Annotation: you could have just rotated the solar panels. This would automatically remove and rebuild them.
Also make sure you're in a sector with enough sunlight (Thanks to @jj003333)
Of dozens of X4 tutorials I’ve watched, this series was by far the clearest and most newbie-friendly start to the X universe.

@@WatchMysh I agree with this guy. Broken up into 4 parts this way I was able to split my new knowledge amongst multiple play sessions and not get overwhelmed.
This was an awesome series.
I hope you do more. Some ideas:
- Acquiring a sector, establishing a police force and make sector decisions. Diplomacy/Policy.
- Boarding and other opportunistic stuff to do if you want to create a rogue band/task force/raiding party.
- How to assess the ongoing geopolitical situation and relationships between other factions and how to find opportunities in the random universe you spawned in.
This was a brilliant four-part series, and has really helped me out. I'm a 1,200 hour veteran of X2 and the various X3 games, and had the UI and menu usage memorised down to the individual number. But X4 is a complete change of interface and had me a little confused. This short series has been a well-explained, very intuitive life saver. Many thanks Mysh!

One of the things that I liked about your guides is that it's easy to understand and easy to follow.
I just bought X4 Foundations recently and I would like to say that these videos truly helped me appreciate and enjoy X4.
While it is not a space-ship simulator like Elite does, X4 makes you feel significant in the grand scheme of things.
The nitpick I have with X4 is the sound design and the UI. They could really use a better user friendly UI in this game lmao.

An important note. I read this on steam. The solar panel production for energy cells only works here because the sunlight is 100%. You could build a station somewhere where the sunlight is significantly less and be forced to import energy cells add a high cost . Be wary

You can select the first module you placed then move the whole station at the same time also.
Anything tied to the first module you placed while move all together at the same time.
Good work with your tutorial series. I hope we get to see more from you covering other topics for the game that could be unclear for newer players. Some suggestions: How to join guilds and what they can offer you (A lot of people have incorrect assumptions about war guilds making you go to war with a faction for example)

@@WatchMysh I'm not sure what is supposed to be next. Maybe a tutorial on manufacturing Advanced Electronics? They are quite scarce and there appears to be a lot of prerequisites to build them. They also appear to be a critical resource for conducting research.
Thank you for your effort! Great video. I'd love to see a tutorial on fleet building. In my opinion, it's an essential part of the game, but it's very hard to figure out the best fleet for specific tasks like station attacks on your own.

Oh and a thing people can try to look at is the overall supply and demands.
Some sectors, can run out of a particular resource, which you can produce, and sell cheap, not only will this bolster the economy, but it will help the factions you want to help.
(Like the Borons somehow keeps on running out of water, so if you have a water production within their sectors, you can sell it cheap to them, which will help them and you.)
Thinking about getting this game but wasn't sure if it was new player (or idiot) friendly. Your video's are an awesome source of information and I think I'll just get it!

Thanks! :) It's a bit rough around the edges but a great game! Thing is though I'm kinda out of topics on X4 now. With a station running just build more stations and you'll generate a ton of money. Feel free to drop a comment if you need any assistance or you have an idea for a helpful video about X4 you and others might find interesting.
Well worth the money.
This a good video to get folks started on the early factory. I used to like to build factories. I wish you could 1) build sub-assemblies outside the box and then slide them in, and 2) select the specific connection point you want to connect to - it seemed to take forever to connect to the right point.

Here's what I did. Buy miners, put on auto mine. Get enough cash to make simple cheap af station so you can produce energy cells. Build some near busy sectors. With just 1 platform, you will make so much cells you can sell them for 11cr even for 10cr that is absolute min. Then just make second energy cell production facility, and that's it. You will make 10+k each minute. Build more enjoy cash flow.

Could you please do a comprehensive tutorial on missions and reputation? I don't really quite understand how the mission system works. I absolutely love your tutorials. You're the absolute best out there for this amazing game.

It also helps to have a ship scout constantly rechecking your npc stations to see their wares, prices, um, whats the command called...Revisit known stations

I would love to see a whole new play through of this game with longer videos.
Bring this game back to life and show us how to build an empire from scratch. I want to learn everything this game has to offer.
I used to play X Rebirth. Loved it to bits but didn’t understand the fundamentals until I saw UA-cam tutorials on Build, Explore and Fight.
This game has many more menus compared to the X Rebirth so it more confusing. I want to know how to board ships and have a fleet. Build stations and sell products for profits.
I have recently played Star field and it doesn’t scratch that itch for me. I need this.

Hi and thanks! :) I plan to return to X4 and so some more tutorials. Dont know when because a lot of hardware has piled up and I need to do these reviews first. But I definetily will.
What do you mean by production chains? Like... building complex products like advanced electronics?
I wish there was a way to know what you need for each station. I'm sure there is internally, but it feels so opaque.
I have split vendetta DLC but not the newer ones. Stations simply does not wok like this, if anything it is close to the opposite. Limiting my Sell will cause it not to be sold to anybody at all since the traders can not sell to other factions. Also, the stations miningships that bring back ore shows up in the SELL offer list, not the BUY offer list. Lastly, my traders will look for any ware that the manager has added but does not have any trade offers for... those that have trade offers are always missing from the WARE section of the station traders...

But there is one problem:
What do i need the traders for? if there are no restrictions on who can buy at my station?
I followed the series and even rewatched it severeal times to figure out if i missed something because my traders aren't movin at all.
They can't find any deals even though i set up everything like you did and set the pirces to the lowest.
Thanks. :) The traders help distribute your wares faster. Them not trading can have a lot of causes - hard to tell from a distance, though. Did you put satellites on possible points of sale so your traders know where they can sell?
@@WatchMysh i did. Especialy in the reach but also in the surrounding sectors
i was aware of the fact that they are suposed to help the station distribute the wares. But does the station produce so much that this is realy needed?
@@Dannte2009X Depends on where your station is situated, how many miners it has, etc. etc. This tutorial is just a general idea you need to adjust to your requirements.
I followed exactly and everything worked well except one part. When I set the ore sell offer to "Sell all but ~5k" with "no restriction" on trade rule, my mining ships all started complaining there were no buyers, which seems odd to me. Basically when my storage hit 5K, the station stopped BUYING from my mining ships even though my buy offer was set to "Only from/to own faction". As soon as I moved the "sell all but" slider to 20k, they all started filling up the storage again. I'm sure it's user error but I have no idea what is wrong.
UPDATE: I figured it out. I had to change the Buy Order amount to "Buy up to" 100% (20K in my case).

I seem to have the production of refined metals up and running and my ships appear to be moving my refined metal from my facility to an arg hull parts factory but they get no money for the delivery I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. It shows they are making a profit but its not in my account do I have to withdraw it from the station?
@@mirage1857 yes, very likely. Check the station balance.

Question, when my traders are selling the ore, I don't get the money it goes to the station?
99% sure it does.

@@Just1Ace you can just withdraw it from the station account. It's in the info tab, first page iirc.
As much as this was a helpful guide, I already outgrew this tutorial so it didn't benefit me all too much, tho there was a few tips and tricks I did pick up, like sell all of the wares except how much the station needs for production for one hour.
Another thing to add, if your factory takes in multiple kinds of either solid or liquid resources, it's annoying to assign a a gas or mineral miner to the station cos they always tend to go for only one resource. I kinda got around this issue by giving a station so many miners that they could 100% fill one resource storage and be forced to gather other resources.. Or, like I did my self sufficent shipyard, I just ordered miners to do advanced automine to one resource and lock them to trade only to my stations. Kinda annoying cos I have now about 80 unassigned ships in total, with a vast majority of them being L miners or traders.. I only have like XL ships in there without a fleet, and 3 scouts sitting in the furthest reaches of the gate network so I can teleport there and go talk to faction representatives or accept guild missions easily.
Yes, the guide is directed at noobs. But nice that even seasoned X4 players can pick up a thing or two. :)
So the solution is to have seperate stations for each production that needs a specific solid or liquid
@@Venomaus_ That kinda works too, but then I would need separate trade ships going between stations, and it's more stuff to set up. I prefer to stick with one big station with enough miners and gas collectors to supply the station.

But maybe you could start a One Faction only gameplay along side your tutorials?, like the borons for example, its been hard to make their weapons and defense stations works, but they have a very simple way to earn money early.
I think they have a unique playstyle, a little hard to master hahaha

Thought I would suggest using a 3M-6S dock right from the start. That single M landing pad is going to become a bottleneck very quickly.

part one showed basic mission is that the best for early on money or is there an obvious way to get your first few million to fund the mining base/fleet
Missions are nice. You can also go and collect some crystals if you need a change or scoop up dropped items at main Xenon invasion gates.

Im finally at this stage of your videos. Im having a little difficulty with my miners. Since setting everything up, the miners that are getting the ore are filling up their ships, but instead of dropping it off at the station they are saying there is no buyers in range. No sure why they refuse to drop off the ore on the station. I cant see any problems that ive caused. Do you have any suggestions?
Hard to tell from a distance. Did you place the satellites so the miners know where to go? Does the manager have enough skill/stars? Oh... Wait... Check the set price at the station again and check your whitelist/blacklist. Maybe the station doesn't buy ore, yet? Another thing to check might be the storage. Did you build the proper type? There are so many thing that can go wrong lol...
@@WatchMysh Your not wrong lol. Everything youve said seems to be in order. In the buy offer for ore i changed it to max (100k) in my case as i built medium storages instead of the small ones. Now the miners have gone back to mining again so hopefully they will drop it off at the station when they are full. Wow such a head scratcher this game. Its fun but confusing at the same time! Im guessing if i add another energy cell module it will double the amount of energy cells i produce as well?
@@llamaking447 Yep. You can double the energy cell production (or even build 16x the modules...) to get a slow but steady income. I usually have my mega-power-plant at the ring highway with a gazillion modules selling cells at the lowest price. Takes zero maintenance and always generates money.

@@WatchMysh well the game has many factions and ships.. I wouldn't mind a quick overview of what at least is not a bad combination, depending on what one would like to do in the game, fighting, boarding, fleet setup. Basically what ships are popular and with what configuration of weapons and mods etc... I know this is part of the charm of the game, but honestly it's quite time consuming. I also wouldn't mind a quick Q and A of random stuff people usually asks in X4 community and comments, tips and tricks etc.. just my 2 cents, thanks either way

Any tips my M miners are getting absolutely demolished by the Kha in the reach the raiding parties are massive sometimes I dont have the money to replace the miners, and or buy escorts, is there anyway to help with this issue or do i just have to tough it out
Make sure your miners don't carry guns so they instantly flee. Otherwise you could do the Terran plot where you can get a ship that easily demolishes Kha'ak hives. Search for them on the outskirts of the system where you're being harrassed. Blow them up. No more Kha'ak... for a while.
@@WatchMysh Okay Ty ill have to try that, maybe there is a hive nearby. my miners try to flee they have no guns but they are getting swarmed by 7-8 heavy fighters and instantly die

@@WatchMysh Ty for all the advice but I am afraid this save is a lost cause i tried for the last 6 hours to stabilize the sector but i ended up losing a mining ship every 10 minutes or so I am now bankrupt and, been utterly defeated, the station also politely destroyed me and the forces I could muster to destroy it but it was fun
