A setting of a poem by Heinrich Heine, this song of Felix Mendelssohn is one of his best known. Russian born violinist and composer Joseph Achron transforms this piece into a violin masterpiece. His elaborate paraphrase displays double-stops and tremolos in the violin part as well as rapidly repeated notes and spectacular arpeggios in the piano part making it one of the most difficult of accompaniments.
The violin is such a wonderful instrument, it brings the songs alive especially in the hands of a good maestro. Listening to this song took me right back to my school days when our music master was teaching us this song. I am now 87, not too old to enjoy good music. God bless the young ones who are keeping these wonderful music alive

Your music masters maybe already died now
My grandmother, who sadly passed away when I was 5, played the violin. This song was quoted with her picture, in her highschool yearbook. I'm so glad you posted this so I could hear how beautiful it sounds. I think it may have been her favorite back when she was young? Thank you for posting this.❤

Excellent tone and arrangment. I love the double stoppings.They are rather unique, your own style and beautiful. I assume it is all your arrangment. Right? You should publish all these arrangement of yours and sell them.
@eltonkam5747 Thank you for your kind comments! This arrangement is not mine. It has been around a long time and was done by Joseph Achron. It is published by Carl Fischer. This arrangement was performed most notably by Jascha Heifetz. Achron's brother, Isodor Achron, was a pianist in a number of Heifetz's early recordings.
Regarding my own arrangements, I have begun to publish them and several of them (Beautiful Dreamer; Sleigh Ride; and Thank You Lord) are now available on my website.
