It's kind of wild how Bender stood up for Brian (pointing out Claire's hypocrisy toward him) while also running him down at the same time. It's quite a skill to shade and support in the same sentences.
The rest of the Group can See that Claire thinks She's better then all of them apart from Andy,By not standing up to her Friends & liking who She wants to like,I wouldn't let my Friends tell Me who I can & carnt like 😊
Andrew and Claire were not dating. You can tell that by the way Andrew came into the library, looked at Claire and pointed at the vacant seat beside her, as if to say, "do you mind if I sit beside you?" Claire didn't smile back. She kind of shrugged her shoulders as if to say, "I don't care," or "whatever?" They weren't "boyfriend/girlfriend" as Bender had intimated. They just knew each other from common social circles because they were both popular kids.
When Andrew said Bender may not even exist & no one will miss him & that he doesn’t count I saw Benders face it really bothered him when Andrew said that then he insulted him more tried so hard to hide that comment hurt him 🥺😩
Top notch acting right there. Something you can't expect from the likes of Rings of Power, where they throw millions at pretty set pieces, but not acting skill.
i think it's interesting how bender looks at claire when she says "really". kinda makes you feel like he's been checking her out for a while even before the events of the movie even happened
Well I think she might've been doing one of two things. 1. She maybe just wanted to watch and listen to the conversation. 2. Maybe she and Bender made eye contact when Andrew was talking about belonging and not fitting in, like if they were sort of looking at eachother as examples of outsiders. Throghout the movie, they do sort of have some sort of abstract respect for eachother, since neither of them really felt like they fit in anywhere.
@@anslagstavlan I honestly thought Bender and Allison should’ve ended up together. It’s a lot more realistic. Claire cared too much about what other people thought about her. She even said herself in the film that she wouldn’t hang out with any of the other characters outside of detention. Allison didn’t care about what anyone thought of her. Also, if you remember, Bender NEVER picked on Allison throughout the film. He even stood up for her by saying “She doesn’t talk, sir” when Vernon was interrogating her. Bender also told Allison in the beginning of the movie “I’ve seen you around, you know”. That’s the thing about Allison. EVERYONE ignored her except Bender. And to add a little experience in the mix, I was pretty much just like Allison in middle school and can confirm that people like us never went for jocks like Andy 🤷♀️. I get that John Hughes was trying to convey the message that stereotypes don’t apply often, but Bender and Allison are just a lot more realistic.
@@jilliank6379 I think it's because of their development as characters, like the way they showed Claire changed that way of thinking was with having her date him despite what other people might think
I could see it actually. Nancy would be Claire, the upper-middle class girl, Robin would be Allison(the alternative unconventional girl), Jonothan or Will could be Brian(The nerdy brains of the group, but has tons of empathy), Steve would be Andrew(The pretty boy athlete of the group), and Billy is definitely Bender forsure.

“I wanna be just like you. I figure all I need is a lobotomy and some tights.”

i can feel that Bender was actually hurt while Andrew said it doesnt make much of a difference if hes not in this school
He was responding as hurtful as he does. It was heavy.
allison looks hurt too, because feeling like she doesnt exist is hiw her parents treat her
You can see it on his face
He brought it up at the end of the film.
"I have such a deep admiration for guys who roll around on the floor with other guys" 🤣🤣🤣

You wear tights?
No I don't wear tights. I wear the required uniform
Tights
Shut up
Bust out laughing
😂🤣
Love it lol
To be fair, I'm sure it's called a singlet.
Funniest about this clip 😂
The older I get, the more I appreciate and understand Vernon's annoyance with these kids (well, most of them--Brian & Allison are golden).
Uh….
It’s implied Vernon has his own demons. Seems awfully military.
Bruh, he was a narcissistic asshole who treated them like shit (especially Bender).
allison is a goddamn model
legitimately yes
both girls in this movie are incredibly cute
“Only burners like you get high”
Bender- *angry stoner stare*
It’s funny cause I’ve been both lol
Judd “Bender” Nelson looks like a mix of Anton Chiguhr and a young Al Pacino here!
That’s a surprisingly good description.

I ADORE Ringwald's hair in this movie.
