Fede for the win. The best of Scott & Cameron this looks great. Lot of lore in here. Enjoying the callbacks in the film. Also the context of the trailer yes!!!!
This is one of the best trailers I’ve ever seen. Can’t stop replaying it. Never thought I’d be interested in another Alien film, but I’m more than all in for this one. I’ve always had this uncanny ability where I can know how the movie is going to sit with me just by watching the trailers and this is going to be a masterpiece. Mark my words. I have never been wrong on that feeling.
There's A million beloved novels and series that Hollyweird hasn't even TOUCHED! Pick one, keep with the source material, and the theaters will see large crowds again.
Especially when it is science fiction. There a ton of prose science fiction source material dating back to 1940 that has never been touched. Problem is being faithful to a story. Foundation had to be modified, but something like Heinlein's Have Spacesuit Will Travel (for instance) needs no re-interpretation.
First thing that threw me out was that is NOT the crew of a spacefaring vessel haha. It's like a freshman ball. Chuck a group of young people in a horror narrative and see which one survives kind of deal. Production LOOKS good though, it may not be just a group of paper thin characters running down corridors. I certainly hope so.
A young cast could be a risk , a trailer is designed to entice the viewer, this does look like a step in the right direction , but on current form , don’t hold your breath..
I'm definitely seeing this. That trailer rocked hard. The space scenes look amazing! No new generation actors will ever be as good as Bill Paxton, Sig and Michael along with Lance and 70's-90-s actors. The 80's is truly a great time for some of the best films and actors ever. It's a rough road for future films. Tom Hardy Venom.😂
The first two movies feature some of my favorite ensemble casts ever put on the screen. Very tough act to follow. And as far as Venom goes, the new trailer made me want to gouge out my eyes with my thumbs.
I watched Cameron's The Abyss last night. I forgot how the movie was set up in the beginning. The acting is some of the best. Ed Harris was great in that movie.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock Damn right! That scene is really fucking emotional with everyone involved and can see their reactions. Unlike the new gen actors who have no feeling. 😂
Looks like a Halloween '18 situation. Very safe, back-to-basics stuff. That said, unlike Green's Halloween, this at least looks & feels like a horror film, so it has an advantage on that front. As for your question "Do we even have actors like this anymore?", the answer is yes. In fact, Alien: Covenant had a few, like Amy Seimetz, for instance. Unfortunately, Ridley fumbled the ball with some of the talent he assembled.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock Agreed. Only remarkable scene in the film. And that's the film Ridley wanted to make. David and Shaw, David betraying Shaw and David wiping out the engineers. Instead, that passion project film is condensed into a flashback with some exposition, while the bulk of the film is just a half hearted remake of Alien '79.
For those worried about the young cast.. Don't Breathe had a largely young cast. Did it hurt the film? Au contrair, it was mind-blowingly effective. Plus, the main female lead is a rising talent, who have already appeared in a couple of high prestige projects, Civil War being the latest. I think Fede Alvarez can bring the best out of his cast.

The chain theaters have fault in The May Massacre. Overpriced tickets for movies that are going to streaming within two weeks, for the price of a evening ticket to own. The price of a matinee to rent. Or wait over a month for the film to be on Netflix or Max. For years, theaters were losing its appeal to general audience by overpricing everything and didn't care, until competition showed up.
The theaters also consistently deliver a sub-par experience especially here in NYC. The theaters are filthy and moviegoers are given free reign to ruin the experience for everyone else. That's why I try and always give my money to the Alamo Drafthouse chain.

Looked pretty solid to me. Is that the same actor who played 'maximus' in Fallout? If the budget was really as low as $40m then that's bodes very well because it looks good and doesn't need a big box office to make money. It will make a profit on ancillary markets alone.
I need to confirm that number with other sources. I'm skeptical it's that low but I'm rooting for the movies to get back to singles and doubles instead of always going for the homerun.
Very good take on the ensemble cast of the first one. This looks like a teenage Alien movie. It needs more star power. The world is more believable imho when you get characters who spent at least some time in it, like the cast in Alien 1 did. This gave me a feel of those teenage slasher movies of old, where character development and interaction, and character moments, are thrown to the trash in favor of thrills and horror. If you only go for visuals and horror I do not think you get what Alien is really about.
All good points. Ridley Scott somehow managed to assemble an all-time Hall of Fame cast that I don't think will ever be matched by this franchise again.
Alien is probably my favourite franchise so I'm down for all of it fingers crossed for this one few parts in this trailer actually got me going I'm not gonna lie the set is very much Alien same walls same doors and shit the title sequence made me smile just might of hooked me if I wasn't so sceptical
