This is the longest video I've ever posted and naturally, UA-cam decided to demonetize it immediately upon release. This has been resolved now, but it nonetheless severely affects performance because YT doesn't promote videos as heavily when they are demonetized, and the first few hours of a release are critical for gaining momentum, which is handicapped when the video is demonetized for those first few hours and being underpromoted. These massive videos are extremely expensive and time-consuming to produce, so if you want to watch even more and support the channel directly, please consider checking out the next part of this video covering how the international coalition eliminated ISIS in Iraq and Syria between 2014 and 2019, which you can view on Nebula here: nebula.tv/videos/reallifelore-modern-conflicts-the-fall-of-isis It's all a part of my Modern Conflict series over there, and there are dozens of other episodes you can watch as well. When you troll Saudi Arabia so hard that it becomes a documentary.
Why would they demonetize it, seemed like a pretty legit video..
What was the reasoning they gave to demonitize it?
If there’s one thing this channel has taught me, it’s that there is no country that doesn’t have some kind of existential problem in the modern world
I highly doubt it is just a modern problem.
@@Kikunosuke777Although the geographies of success have changed with the course of technology, places which historically had very low populations and only recently have experienced relative population booms compared to everywhere else, are direct products of modernity and at risk of disappearing in a changing world. It’s all lies I’m telling you- it’s just an American perspective of the Middle East and Saudi Arabia
Too bad everything in it was so skewed it's like the CIA wrote it - which is something they routinely do. But how could you possibly have known any of that?
Funny, so when the Biden administration set $80/bbl for WTI crude as the base (minimum) price, they were just joking?

Honestly, it sounds like Saudi Arabia started this adjustment too late. The more I hear about most things in the world, the more it sounds like entrenched power has repeatedly set itself up to fall entirely because they aren't willing to give an inch.
Oh absolutely. And look what happened last time they tried to do reforms, the second there was any pushback from the religious extremists they undid everything and doubled down on the religious conservatism. I'd bet that these "sweeping reforms" will end up the same way. And frankly they're a drop in the bucket of what's needed. Women can drive now, wow! But reporters can still be disappeared, homosexuality is still punished with the death penalty. It's just not enough. Like you say, they've left this too late. Maybe if they kept going after that mosque siege instead of caving in to the religious fanatics they'd have been able to continue making gradual changes and be in a decent place by now, but they didn't. So they can either do things gradually enough to avoid provoking strong pushback, in which case it won't happen fast enough and they're screwed, or they can force reforms through quickly and face tons of pushback and turmoil, in which case they're screwed.
It just keeps happening. People with the most power and money in the world refusing to invest even crumbs of it into propping up a world that can survive longer-term so they can enjoy what they have.
Because the ones making those decisions are not going to be around for the consequences.

Wow…excellent work, So interesting and how have I not found this channel before…new fan ,Australia
Great video, although it misses a couple of very important key facts:
1) As alluded to, the US is well capable of producing an excess of oil over and above what they need domestically, they just choose not to for various reasons.
2) When making the deal with the Saudis for their supply of oil, the US added another stipulation to the agreement; that the Saudis use the US dollar for pricing and transacting for oil. This gave the US dollar IMMENSE strength and power globally and was one of the main cornerstones of the USD's global dominance and subsequently US global power.
3) Recent Saudi deals with China to trade oil in Chinese Yuan and agreements with Russia regarding oil supply and pricing have significantly strained the relationship with the US.
4) Despite their best efforts and intentions, the world will not be able to remove their reliance on oil any time soon. Alternative energy generation is still a long way from being good enough to replace oil. While nuclear power generation could likely do the job, this is not a favoured option for many countries.
I feel like alot of people don't realise how much we us oil for. Just producing power and fuel for cars is just a part. Just think of everything made of plastic.
What are those reasons?
Nuclear power is increasingly not cost effective and in fact is the only alternate energy source to not have decreased in price over the decades. Solar, wind, and hydro are going to be the deal, not nuclear.

As an Iraqi who was born in Baghdad in 2001 and raised there for 5 years, I am severely disappointed in Iraq for wanting to invade Kuwait and Saudi for oil, rather than developing their own country to become a powerhouse like the United States of America, China, and Russia. As the video stated the Tigris and Euphrates river provided fertile lands for Iraq to set up an agricultural sector that would've fed the people of Iraq, and plenty of oil to get the money to put into developing schools and increasing the quality of life for the people of Iraq. Instead of Iraq being a war-torn country, it could've been a global political influencer. Really sad to see this as an Iraqi.
You need to look at why Saddam invaded Kuwait, he was force to.
Like how in world war 2 japan was sanctioned by usa making japan only have 6 months of oil left on reserve.

saddams mistake to attack Kuwait and Iran was the downfall of Iraq, if he just focused on building his army for defense and long range missiles that could destroy tel aviv if threatened by war from the US (usa not attacks nations that can destroy israel) + investing instead in the economy. iraq would be very stable now and americans wouldnt have invaded.

Venezuelan oil is thicker younger oil. The Canadian oil is the oldest best oil, but harder to access because it's in the coldest terrain.

Several counter points:
1- KSA has at least 700b$ in their national wealth fund invested everywhere in the world.
2- KSA still has the support of the Arab and Muslim world because of its religious importance
3- The world may need less oil as fuel in the future, however, KSA is focusing more and more on using its oil in petrochemical industries
4- The ages of coal and wood are over. However, we are still consuming massive amounts of coal and wood as sources of energy. If you can produce oil cheap enough (KSA can), you will always find customers.
5- KSA still has many other sources of income that they are hardly exploiting now, from religious tourism to massive mines of natural resources to seaports exploiting its great geolocation.
*The challenges for KSA are great, but it is far from being doomed.
Their biggest enemies are Muslim countries and Muslim groups though, because they have theological issues with each other. I assume they want to own Mekka and Medina and control it the way they view as right.
But: KSA will be too hot for humans live in in just a few decades. KSA also is a vapid, vain, totalitarian dictatorship that executes gay people.

2050? I don't think so, it'll be longer than that. Even if the age of oil is going to be over just like wood and charcoal, there will be always a customer to be buying them
We'll be far dead before that.
Oil free? No. But depleting the use to where it doesn’t become a source of international conflict because of economic logistics? That’s possible.
@@thelinedrive 😂 wait until the lithium wars then. The nations with oil will be leagues ahead as usual.
Not entirely, the plan isn't to be oil free it is to be net zero. Means even if you use oil you can make up a way to get rid of that carbon that your released making you. There are ways like more plants and trees and carbon capture, that reduce your overall carbon output.
I wonder if that oil should be staying under the ground where it belongs ..

Houthi attacked saudi in 2009 with the support of Iran (Shi’a).
The Arabian spring went off and the Houthi declared war against Saudi Again in 2014.
It's alarming how this video doesn't differentiate how this is more due to politics then simply "islam" or "extreme Islam" whatever that means. Islam is lawfully (by Qur'an) should only be ONE. No sects. Strictly no division. So this is and was not a religious conflict. Similar to Christian v Christian wars. That wasn't from their scripture either it's just politics trying to justify itself with by misusing religion.
One brief example is America's involvement in Iraq. He didn't express how that was unlawful. 1 million + Iraqis & US soldiers died bc President Bush lied expressing Iraq used WMDs. In other words America weren't the heroes there, rather the ones who escalated it, keep the conflict between them, let them settle it we obviously don't understand. Oh yea don't forget the part where we took a "tiny bit" of Iraqs resources with us. It was definitely not a war for profit 🤫

I'm still very skeptical about whether the world will really stop needing Saudi oil. The vision to decarbonize economies is wishful thinking, we aren't doing nearly enough to increase the production of copper, lithium, cobalt and other minerals needed for renewables, which aren't a reliable source of energy anyways, and there hasn't been a sufficient increase in nuclear energy either. Especially with Russia being a pariah state to much of the world now, Saudi Arabian oil will be needed by someone. Maybe not America, but probably Europe, and definitely China, Japan and India.
The US actually has found great stories of lithium, Cooper, silver in Nevada. It maybe the largest deposit in the world at this time.
I was actually going to comment something similar. The idea that we are moving away from oil is a political position, and still an impractical thing to expect in the near future. The electric car revolution is stalling out too. And like you say, all of this supposed progress is really only something being pushed in rich western countries. We will never move that far away from oil for atleast a few more or more decades. They have time to start diversifying their economy.
I think thats right - the goal of moving from oil is great, but the timelines are unrealistic - I just wish the Saudi govt was more focused on big projects that can be achieved instead of crazy things that will definitely fail like The Line etc. Some parts of the Neom project make sense - the port and desalination stations and rail connections etc. and are controversial but within our technology to produce - and should have more focus, along with the establishment of “enclaves” for tourists and foreign investment companies/offices, that can have different rules. They could be moving much faster if there was more focus, I think.
This is a stunningly interesting video and finally made me understand the conflicts and balancing acts I hear so much about in the middle east. I always knew that there was a lot of war, fighting and terror organizations but I never understood what exactly the background were. Very interesting to see!
lol, this is a pretty shallow one-sided exploration of the geopolitics of the middle east. I'd be careful drawing any conclusions from it. To get a more balanced view, a good start would to not be afraid of demonitization like our boy RealLifeLore was decrying against in the first comment of the comment section.
@@andrewtataj497 any book or video reccomendation?
@andrew You said it BOI !!! 👍
@@abdulazizabdulaziz6304 there's no 'one book' or 'one video', that will educate you on the part of the world which has more history than any other. It's more that you've gotta look at all sides of an issue at the very least before forming an opinion, especially with an area as complex as the Middle East. By playing nice with youtube's demonitization criteria, the maker of this vid is subjecting himself to youtube's views on why the middle east is the way that it is.
For instance, when speaking of Al Qaeda, is there a mention of the CIA funding Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan to fight against the Russians in the 1980s? Does it mention Julian Assange and Wikileaks' reporting of Hillary's Clinton's emails that her State Dept was sending money and weapons to the Saudis while knowing that it was going to end up in the hands of al Qaeda? Does it mention that al Qaeda's biggest operations since Afghanistan and 9/11 have been in Iraq and Syria and not Saudi Arabia? If it did it might start to look like al Qaeda was working in the interests of the Saudis and the USA instead of simply being a terrorist organization trying to overthrow the Saudis and install an 'even more repressive' form of Islam. By ignoring these details, it paints a picture of Middle East terrorism where the USA comes off smelling clean, and washes the Saudis clean of some of the worst events to happen there over the last 20-30 years.
I don't know the guy behind RealLifeLore, I've never spoken to him. Because of that, I can't tell you what he believes or doesn't believe. What I can say for certain is since youtube is a censored platform, a guy like RealLifeLore here has to take the position he's taken, skipping over lots of opposing opinions and the evidence supporting them if he wants compensation for all his hard work on a video like this. It doesn't mean you're being lied to, but it does mean you can't choose what argument you find more convincing because only one side of the story is being told.
tldr;
youtube and all big tech censorship sucks. It means everything posted there about geopolitics, modern history and current events needs to be looked at with a very healthy dose of skepticism.
P.S. UA-cam is still pretty ok for cat videos.
This was literally for a propaganda purpose and not educational in any way. Like he made an Egyptian King Farouq turned him into a Saudi King. Like since when?😂 Also, if Saudi Arabia just a desert like he claims then why The U.S is so obsessed with that country??

Saudi Arabia plays a factor in most wars due to their control over oil. Look up OPEC that's owned by Saudi Arabia. US is their security.
If I had a riyal for every “Saudi is doomed” video I’ll be saudi-rich.
considering oil is their only real resource, and everyone is not going for this stupid net zero bullshit, well here is the sad truth. people need oil and everyone is investing in their own or getting it from somewhere else. While this oil revenue and dominance has given political stranglehold on politics and social ettique, the simple truth is that saudi arabia is the only real people that are going to get screwed, why.
3 real reasons.
1. Saudi arabia is not the only game in town.
2. Other peoples are investing in their own oil prodcution and extraction.
and 3. saudi arabia is relying exclusively on that oil to dominate the globe. And unfortunately for the saudis. when the west turns right wing which is going to happen in a short period of time, all who is left cannot challenge saudi dominance. meaning. Saudi arabia is on borrwed time. tick tock. Tick tock. .
Saudi arabia is gunna get a wake up call.
How are they not? No one has their back, they have many enemies, and their main commodity is becoming less and less valuable.

If I am looking carefully at that map, The distance Nordstream 2 is covering, and the distance from the Oil-fields in Saudi Arabia to North of Gaza in israel is about the same… Making a Saudi stream with a port in Israel would make the Houthis and the Brotherhood of Egypt Irrelevant.
Its funny because my great-grandfather was one of the few American oil workers that was first there when the Saudi oil was discovered -- infact my mom literally has a physical picture of the first oil explosion (which is more terrifying to me than wondrous)
We still have camel whip-blades from the sultan himself at that time (the only thing that ever got passed down, he never shared his wealth with my grandfather, and my mom grew up quite poor because of it, so we aren't rich from this domino effect)
Many American Workers at that time ran away with Saudi heritage and Historical monuments going back thousands of Years and demanded all of them back, and Aramco at that time wasn't as big as today so no wonder why he didn't get rich out of it or he spent it all recklessly.

Saudi Arabia should have send all their students to Europe and America and study science to develop own industry.
But they don’t want to work for cheap labor.
I’m Saudi Arabian 17y girl and there are some about this video that bothered me and I’m only half way through
1. Al saud did not bribe its citizens with no tax, free education and free healthcare in exchange to accept religious laws. We are Muslims and we are living in the land of Islam’s birth place. We don’t need to be bribed with anything to abide by Islam rules we do it because we want it + no other royal family could lead our country better, we all love them and they are generous enough to make our lives easier with privileges WITHOUT BRIBES
2. The king did not marry 20 wives or have 60 kids. He has a limit of 4 because that’s the Islamic way and there’s no proof or evidence of how many he married but if he married more than 1 then it would be 4 not 20
3. Wahbism isn’t real, so many westerns including arab & Muslims use that word and as Saudis we don’t like it because it’s sometimes categorized as ‘te11o1ism’ and the thing is it’s not even real.
How it started was a man called محمد ابن عبد الوهاب Muhammad son of abd al wahb. Which is where the name “wahbism” came from.
This man in the 18 century was clearing up misinformation about Islam also known as biddable e.g. like how some (now known as) Saudis had statues, which is a sin it’s not allowed. So he was going around correct Muslims on the proper Islam.
!! It’s not a movement or a religion or a sect or a group
It’s just a man making sure people are praying and passing down Islam properly.
The reason it’s now know as a group is because some Arabs did not like that he was correcting them and made rumers (idk how to spell) but basically lies about him and the people who are following his foot steps and somehow today in the 21 century it turned into te11o1ist group.
4. 1979 Ikhwan al-Muslim which means brotherhood but they are mainly known as and lead by juhayman al-otaybi.
Everything you said about them was true except they were not wahbi again because it’s not real and lastly the saudi laws did not change because of them, around that time a newer king was there and he changed the laws because Islamic laws were slowly slipping away not because of the 1979 incident it just happened to be around that time.
5. Some information you forgot to mention is Osma bin Laden Was Saudi Arabian. It started there because he was Saudi and his family were owners of a huge oil company and were all working for Al Saud. But he did not like that so he teamed up and armed al-qadiya from afghan who had anular views to him. Which are there is too much western influence in Muslim countries (also what happed with iraq with US invading and stealing there money is what set them off, he was building lots of resentment towards the US but what happened to iraq was his last straw he knew he would die but he did care we wanted to do something)
Unrelated but what happened to iraq was 100% the US (gorge bush) fault they killed over a million innocent people for oil and used non-existing weapons of mass distruction as a excuse. What osma did was bad but it doesn’t not compare to what the US did to iraq
Hi, I'm from Iraq M21, Allow me to clarify things.
1. Respectfully, The point you trying to make is clear though it is heavily depending on your opinion and point of view rather than facts, I'm talking about your answer and not that I'm with or against the accusation.
2.The king (Abdullah) did Marry 21 wives, Not at the same time OFC, His highness's DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR lead to 17 divorced and 4 remained wives, I found it bizarre that you are a woman defending this thing.
3.killing and stealing and other Bandits activities IS NOT "" CLEARING UP MISINFORMATION""
I believe its the pure form of terrorism, Like what they did in Riyadh, Al-Ahsa, Diriyah, Basra, according to: History of Najd page 123
Lastly I do agree in some parts of the Iraq thing, Counting Osama bin laden as 'bad' is more or less flirting with him, He is a terrorist much like Wahhabism which do exist, much like many many terrorist movements coming out of the same place...Saudi Arabia, And that doesn't erase some lovely sides of this country.
Now You can reply with logic and discussion or completely ignore my points and attack me as you guys love this type of thing to do.

It’s nothing new that these Arabs/Muslim j hate on any Muslim that is succeeding
4. I was not defending Osma I was explaining why he did it since the video did not provide context
But if u wanna use ur logic, osma did it because the US took any other hit at the Middle East (iraq) killing over a million ppl and cashing some over them to become migrants. He wanted the US to take a hit for a change.
Holding Osma accountable but not the US is genuinely crazy and pure Hypocrisy. Especially when those were ur ppl that were killed for no reason.

@@man2398 also ur taking me saying what osma did was “bad” out of context
I said “what osma did was bad but it does not compare to the US”

You mean the whole world has been shaped by the British empire.
Indeed, probably the greatest power and influence the world, and certainly the modern world, has ever known.
The British didn’t colonize Saudi Arabia + King Farouq is Egyptian and not Saudi + this video is plain propaganda and I noticed American accounts been spreading fake news on middle eastern countries lately too much which is funny. Because they need to worry about China and Russia instead

Thank you for the effort. As a Saudi I have somewhat of a different perspective when it comes to some of the things that you mentioned in the clip. As you’ve explained, it’s a rough neighborhood. I wish that we had Canada and Mexico as our neighbors but unfortunately we don’t. You did an excellent job of explaining the geopolitics of the region and many of the challenges that are faced; in fact, better than most mainstream media and “Middle East” experts. The areas where I might differ the most are mostly around the positioning of the societal and internal dynamics, for example it is inferred that the only reason that the country still exists is because of the discovery of oil and that the people are being “bribed”. While oil has been an extremely important part of the growth and development of the country, it’s important to remember that it was established and existed well before oil was discovered. And I wouldn’t exactly call spending on the healthcare, education (both of which have been the main budget items since the establishment of those sectors) and wellbeing of its citizens bribery! In fact, many European countries spend more on welfare as a percentage of their budget than Saudi does.
Additionally, I think that the positioning of the nature of the relationship with the US, while it is an important relationship for both sides for many reasons, as an existential one for Saudi is highly overstated in the clip. Saudi is important to, and has influence on over around 1.8billion people around the word since it houses the two holiest sites for Muslims and it has often leveraged this weight to resolve many issues in the region and beyond, working alongside the US and others, a role which is often overlooked in the mainstream media.
Overall, I think that this was a good summary, one of the best that I’ve seen, specially when it comes to geopolitics, (not so much so the cultural aspects around internal dynamics, government and society) so with the exception of the positioning of the issues that I mentioned above and some others that I won’t go over (which I attribute to cultural bias and/or differences, in the existing and available material on Saudi), great effort!
PS. I also must very much disagree with the title of the clip, I think that Saudi Arabia has a very bright future ahead of it!
I would like to see Saudi become a solar and wind generation powerhouse.
Especially in regards to direct solar distillation and desalination of seawater?
...It's not the way things are usually done ATM, but it would be great if Saudi was able to become the electricity source for countries around it.
For a fee, of course.
This would require a pan-Arab power grid.
...Which would be spiffy, and probably help the political instability to not be so pernicious.
(I'm aware European powers have certainly encouraged fighting at times. I would rather y'all not be divided and conquered, even if that makes my life harder.)
All islamic countries are more or less unstable because there's always a religious faction which is "greener". It's highly probable that the Saudi royalty will get overthrown by more fundamentalist groups if the oil revenue declines in future.
It's a dangerous geopolitical game.
Doubtful, if you couldn’t improve the quality of life in your country, with all that wealth, there is no way you are going to do that in the future. If any change had to have come it should have come in the formative years of your country.
Oman on the other hand has a very high literacy rate, high GDP, a very good quality of life. All this is possible due to their progressive thought

There is another significant factor in the instability of Saudi Arabia. Their Vision 2030 objective is blowing through money on projects that will never pay for themselves. They are spending the government into bankruptcy. It is accelerating their demise.
