This is the longest video I've ever posted and naturally, UA-cam decided to demonetize it immediately upon release. This has been resolved now, but it nonetheless severely affects performance because YT doesn't promote videos as heavily when they are demonetized, and the first few hours of a release are critical for gaining momentum, which is handicapped when the video is demonetized for those first few hours and being underpromoted. These massive videos are extremely expensive and time-consuming to produce, so if you want to watch even more and support the channel directly, please consider checking out the next part of this video covering how the international coalition eliminated ISIS in Iraq and Syria between 2014 and 2019, which you can view on Nebula here: nebula.tv/videos/reallifelore-modern-conflicts-the-fall-of-isis It's all a part of my Modern Conflict series over there, and there are dozens of other episodes you can watch as well. Great video, although it misses a couple of very important key facts: 1) As alluded to, the US is well capable of producing an excess of oil over and above what they need domestically, they just choose not to for various reasons. 2) When making the deal with the Saudis for their supply of oil, the US added another stipulation to the agreement; that the Saudis use the US dollar for pricing and transacting for oil. This gave the US dollar IMMENSE strength and power globally and was one of the main cornerstones of the USD's global dominance and subsequently US global power. 3) Recent Saudi deals with China to trade oil in Chinese Yuan and agreements with Russia regarding oil supply and pricing have significantly strained the relationship with the US. 4) Despite their best efforts and intentions, the world will not be able to remove their reliance on oil any time soon. Alternative energy generation is still a long way from being good enough to replace oil. While nuclear power generation could likely do the job, this is not a favoured option for many countries.
I feel like alot of people don't realise how much we us oil for. Just producing power and fuel for cars is just a part. Just think of everything made of plastic.
Nuclear power is increasingly not cost effective and in fact is the only alternate energy source to not have decreased in price over the decades. Solar, wind, and hydro are going to be the deal, not nuclear.
Honestly, it sounds like Saudi Arabia started this adjustment too late. The more I hear about most things in the world, the more it sounds like entrenched power has repeatedly set itself up to fall entirely because they aren't willing to give an inch.
Oh absolutely. And look what happened last time they tried to do reforms, the second there was any pushback from the religious extremists they undid everything and doubled down on the religious conservatism. I'd bet that these "sweeping reforms" will end up the same way. And frankly they're a drop in the bucket of what's needed. Women can drive now, wow! But reporters can still be disappeared, homosexuality is still punished with the death penalty. It's just not enough. Like you say, they've left this too late. Maybe if they kept going after that mosque siege instead of caving in to the religious fanatics they'd have been able to continue making gradual changes and be in a decent place by now, but they didn't. So they can either do things gradually enough to avoid provoking strong pushback, in which case it won't happen fast enough and they're screwed, or they can force reforms through quickly and face tons of pushback and turmoil, in which case they're screwed.
It just keeps happening. People with the most power and money in the world refusing to invest even crumbs of it into propping up a world that can survive longer-term so they can enjoy what they have.
Excellent video! It's explains the major geopolitcal problems in that area down to the line in a short but precise manner. This should be mandatory to teach our kids where all these problems originated from and developed until today. My deepest respect for the creator of this video!
This is seriously one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. I wasn't expecting to watch the entire thing in 1 sitting after randomly clicking on something that looked interesting. Well done!
Too bad everything in it was so skewed it's like the CIA wrote it - which is something they routinely do. But how could you possibly have known any of that?
You missed the most important part of the Saudi-US relationship, which is the Saudi promise to only sell oil for dollars. This is what ensures that the dollar remains the world reserve currency. It’s the backbone of US prosperity, which the Saudi’s have recently begun undermining when they announced their intention to sell oil for Yuan.
@@joshwuzhere1 I agree… by printing dollars and “exporting” inflation, the US is quietly stealing from the world. Currency competition would be good for everyone, but I fear the US will resort to military means, as it so often does, to protect this racket. The US government is taking all of the steps that would be necessary to precede war with China. Saudi regime change wouldn’t be surprising either.
Back when I was a soldier, I was an intelligence analyst, and I’m surprised you got all this right for the most part. Wish I had this video when I first started!
I feel like there is something obvious the video misses though. Blockading the strait of Hormuz and the one near Yemen will piss of the rest of the world, which makes it somewhat of a limited time option.
And really, Saudi Arabia's current fairly dire situation is actually their *best-case* scenario. Imagine if the US were to not merely stop protecting Saudi Arabia but become *actively hostile* to them.
What would happen? Exactly nothing! Saudi Arabia has it’s mercenaries the Egyptian army. The Egyptian army is no joke. Egypt and Saudi Arabia are like brothers.

This video was helpful in relaying why the Yemen war happened. The media made a mish mash of the subject, making it increasingly to difficult to understand what’s happening and why.
I will explain it simply Saudi sunni Houthi Shi’a Houthi attacked saudi in 2009 with the support of Iran (Shi’a). The Arabian spring went off and the Houthi declared war against Saudi Again in 2014.
It's alarming how this video doesn't differentiate how this is more due to politics then simply "islam" or "extreme Islam" whatever that means. Islam is lawfully (by Qur'an) should only be ONE. In other words America weren't the heroes there, rather the ones who escalated it, keep the conflict between them, let them settle it we obviously don't understand. Oh yea don't forget the part where we took a "tiny bit" of Iraqs resources with us. @@BF109G4no. The Saudis invaded Yemen in order to subjugate and enslave the people and take their oil and land . We supported them To jockey for a better position to attack Iran, which we've always been salivating to do. The first move we helped the Saudis do was to destroy the water filtration so hundreds of thousands of kids got cholera and died. We also bombed schools hospitals and surrounded them at sea so they couldn't get food or clean water . It's called 'seige warfare' or 'sanctions' but it's war and death and misery. The Yemeni people never understood why we ( USA) were doing this ( we guided the bombs and told the Saudis where to attack, being lords of war) then we finally added soldiers on the ground as well as sea support. We decimated them . Any help they got from Iran was totally justified as there was never a 'civil war' a lie spun by the Saudis to get all manner of support int heir efforts to subjugate and occupy Yemen They even bombed fishermen ti starve more people . So wake up please
Sucks about the demonetization. Appreciate what you do though. Very informative video not just about SA, but the politics behind so many conflicts in the Middle East over the past century. Keep up the good work
As an Iraqi who was born in Baghdad in 2001 and raised there for 5 years, I am severely disappointed in Iraq for wanting to invade Kuwait and Saudi for oil, rather than developing their own country to become a powerhouse like the United States of America, China, and Russia. As the video stated the Tigris and Euphrates river provided fertile lands for Iraq to set up an agricultural sector that would've fed the people of Iraq, and plenty of oil to get the money to put into developing schools and increasing the quality of life for the people of Iraq. Instead of Iraq being a war-torn country, it could've been a global political influencer. Really sad to see this as an Iraqi.
You need to look at why Saddam invaded Kuwait, he was force to. Like how in world war 2 japan was sanctioned by usa making japan only have 6 months of oil left on reserve. Reason japan colonism on other countries, which american and its allies itself were doing. In case of your country Kuwait under usa guidance were exporting too much oil hurting Iraqi economy. Remember american propoganda, Iraqi soldier killing babies in hospital (lies) Hope ur country recovers.
@bumbafa6181 ... Iraq may not have been powerhouse like United States of America, China and Russia, however, on the other part of your opinion, I fully agree with you. Invading Kuwait was utter nonsense and unwarranted. It was only caused damages and prevented Iraq from further development. Cheers 👍🌸
saddams mistake to attack Kuwait and Iran was the downfall of Iraq, if he just focused on building his army for defense and long range missiles that could destroy tel aviv if threatened by war from the US (usa not attacks nations that can destroy israel) + investing instead in the economy. iraq would be very stable now and americans wouldnt have invaded.
I'd find it really helpful if where was a little graphic down in the corner of videos like this that could tell you at any point aproximately what year in history we are discussing the events of. The shorter version of this video Saudi Arabia is doomed, because of it’s geographical position, being surrounded by enemies, and being part of a market, less reliable on oil

I can’t say enough about the quality of this video. A great learning experience in regards to how the history of the Sunni-Shia conflict at it’s core plays into the proxy sides pitted against eachother in the Middle East, and then dialing into KSA itself and assessing the depletion of this cash crop likely rendering them helpless if unable to diversify its economy on short notice. Especially for US citizens because we got to filter through so much propaganda revolving around the Middle East because we're largely responsible for the conflicts there.
It was actually a very good decision then. Unlike the English who were occupying all Saudi’s neighboring countries, the US was seen in the 30s as a neutral power. You’d be surprised how the Arab elite and journalists viewed America before the establishment of Israel. On the other hand, the UK was still occupying the other gulf countries as well as Iraq and Jordan. In fact Saudis and English had proxy wars in the 19th century in present day UAE, Oman, and Bahrain, and clashed in the 20s in Jordan, and almost did the same in Kuwait. Same happened in the 50s in Al-Buraimi.
Well back than America was naive, psycho, disagrable(to British) big brother of the man once it become the man turned out it to had to do what had to be done to keep hegemony going. At the end British and Americans are like a gang one retired one took over peacefully but they are the same family.
While of course there's so much MORE to this story than meets the eye, your history lesson is extraordinarily helpful nonetheless. Thank you for your hard work on this.
I learned more in this 50+ minute showing than I did when working for 5 years in the 80's. I drove across Saudi a few times, explored mountains and vast open spaces. I actually enjoyed most of my time there! I certainly saw the country. I saw obscene wealth and I saw poverty. Yes, there are poor Saudi's for sure!
I now realised why Saudi Arabia and America did 9/11. Bin laden was giving the Saudis a warm time. This is why most the hijackers was from Saudi Arabia.

A crucial test for mankind.
I'm still very skeptical about whether the world will really stop needing Saudi oil. The vision to decarbonize economies is wishful thinking, we aren't doing nearly enough to increase the production of copper, lithium, cobalt and other minerals needed for renewables, which aren't a reliable source of energy anyways, and there hasn't been a sufficient increase in nuclear energy either. Especially with Russia being a pariah state to much of the world now, Saudi Arabian oil will be needed by someone. Maybe not America, but probably Europe, and definitely China, Japan and India.
I was actually going to comment something similar. The idea that we are moving away from oil is a political position, and still an impractical thing to expect in the near future. The electric car revolution is stalling out too. And like you say, all of this supposed progress is really only something being pushed in rich western countries. Everyone else still needs fossil fuels.
I’ve deployed to the Middle East multiple times, and started taking a serious interest in learning the details of it in 2017. This is the best summary I have ever come across! You have a new subscriber.
And now you understand why people here don't like westerners much. Even if many of the details are lost to people locally, it's generally understood that western intervention is the primary reason for the state we're in today. Had the British not funded Ibn Saud, the Rashidun/Hashimite people who practiced ACTUAL classical Islam, the people who earned it the name "Religion of Peace", would have maintained control. And were it not for Sykes-Picot, we'd have had a unified front to develop in cooperation.
You need to do more research bro. I went in 2008 too, but if you don't know who Kermit Roosevelt is, or Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh...You have about 80 years of the story to catch up on. American Coups go back to the 1860s, right after the Civil War when capital interests ran out of new unclaimed resources in the states.
He talks about the Wahhabi tribe, knowing that there is no such thing as Wahhabism, and if he meant the Sheikh’s family, then they are the descendants of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, and they reject the name Wahhabism. And there is a difference between the Al Rashid family and the Rashidi or Rashidi tribe The Al Rashid family are the ones who overthrew the second Saudi state, not the Rashida tribe .. And the stupidest thing he said in the report is that the government offers bribes to all citizens. Well, what is bribery? Free education, free health, luxuries, universities and more Which rich country naturally cares about these matters and the interests of their people, but Saudi Arabia, when it settles like this, calls it bribery? ... Also, Saudi Arabia is not affiliated with America or seeking protection from America. It is a country that protects itself by itself And the report says that the arms deals from America are to suppress and kill innocent people Well, he forgot America's crimes in the two Koreas, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq In general, the report is full of lies and ridiculous fraud

Thank your for this deep dive. Very interesting stuff
This is a stunningly interesting video and finally made me understand the conflicts and balancing acts I hear so much about in the middle east. I always knew that there was a lot of war, fighting and terror organizations but I never understood what exactly the background were. Very interesting to see!
lol, this is a pretty shallow one-sided exploration of the geopolitics of the middle east. I'd be careful drawing any conclusions from it. To get a more balanced view, a good start would to not be afraid of demonitization like our boy RealLifeLore was decrying against in the first comment of the comment section.
@@abdulazizabdulaziz6304 there's no 'one book' or 'one video', that will educate you on the part of the world which has more history than any other. It's more that you've gotta look at all sides of an issue at the very least before forming an opinion, especially with an area as complex as the Middle East. By playing nice with youtube's demonitization criteria, the maker of this vid is subjecting himself to youtube's views on why the middle east is the way that it is. For instance, when speaking of Al Qaeda, is there a mention of the CIA funding Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan to fight against the Russians in the 1980s? Does it mention Julian Assange and Wikileaks' reporting of Hillary's Clinton's emails that her State Dept was sending money and weapons to the Saudis while knowing that it was going to end up in the hands of al Qaeda? Does it mention that al Qaeda's biggest operations since Afghanistan and 9/11 have been in Iraq and Syria and not Saudi Arabia? If it did it might start to look like al Qaeda was working in the interests of the Saudis and the USA instead of simply being a terrorist organization trying to overthrow the Saudis and install an 'even more repressive' form of Islam. By ignoring these details, it paints a picture of Middle East terrorism where the USA comes off smelling clean, and washes the Saudis clean of some of the worst events to happen there over the last 20-30 years. I don't know the guy behind RealLifeLore, I've never spoken to him. Because of that, I can't tell you what he believes or doesn't believe. What I can say for certain is since youtube is a censored platform, a guy like RealLifeLore here has to take the position he's taken, skipping over lots of opposing opinions and the evidence supporting them if he wants compensation for all his hard work on a video like this. It doesn't mean you're being lied to, but it does mean you can't choose what argument you find more convincing because only one side of the story is being told. tldr; youtube and all big tech censorship sucks. It means everything posted there about geopolitics, modern history and current events needs to be looked at with a very healthy dose of skepticism. P.S. UA-cam is still pretty ok for cat videos.
This was literally for a propaganda purpose and not educational in any way. Like he made an Egyptian King Farouq turned him into a Saudi King. Like since when?😂 Also, if Saudi Arabia just a desert like he claims then why The U.S is so obsessed with that country??

Its funny because my great-grandfather was one of the few American oil workers that was first there when the Saudi oil was discovered -- infact my mom literally has a physical picture of the first oil explosion (which is more terrifying to me than wondrous) We still have camel whip-blades from the sultan himself at that time (the only thing that ever got passed down, he never shared his wealth with my grandfather, and my mom grew up quite poor because of it, so we aren't rich from this domino effect)
Many American Workers at that time ran away with Saudi heritage and Historical monuments going back thousands of Years and demanded all of them back, and Aramco at that time wasn't as big as today so no wonder why he didn't get rich out of it or he spent it all recklessly.
I learn so much from your videoes - this and your other ones. I'm very grateful for the time and effort you invest into every video. Keep up the amazing work.
FDR had to tell the royal saudi family that they could keep cutting Saudi girls' clitorises off and stoning them to death for adultery if they report their rapist. NK and Saudis are worth Boycotting, Demerging, and Sanctioning but ya know that inflation thing, so Saudi teen girls will have to wait. I think the circumcised women should form an underground resistance and get the rapist circumcised for rape. Public beheadings and amputations are normal for Saudis so taking off a testicle or two would get an audience.

Mark Curtis' 2010 book "Secret Affairs: Britains' Collusion with Radical Islam" tells of the British support for Ibn Saud skipped over by this video. Ibn Saud’s takeover of Saudi Arabia involved killing 400,000, 1,000,000 fled into exile. In the numerous rebellions that followed Ibn Saud executed 40,000 in public executions and amputated the limbs of 350,000. The Wahhabi sect believes in killing all dissenters and enslaving their wives and children. Women were killed just for appearing outdoors and men killed for smoking cigarettes. Colonial Secretary Churchill admired this friend of Britain and raised his funding. The British Army in Iraq also intervened to help Saud crush a rebellion. It also tells how the reactionary Brits and USA helped create the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Ayataollah Khomenei in Iran and how Pakistan was originally the brainchild of British Military Intelligence (see his online excerpt 'Partition: Keep A Bit of India".

Tourism though still makes Saudi-Arabia dependent on foreigners and it's something that will likely stop during a war. Iran has a domestic manufacturing and agricultural sector with large domestic consumption and a significant public life. It's far from a perfect country but it is a country that can sustain itself long term if diplomatically isolated.
If these videos about global interconnected conflicts have taught me anything, it’s that Gandalf’s words in the first Hobbit movie are truer than ever: We can talk international peace proposals and sweeping legal changes all we want, but in the end it really does come down to the simple, everyday deeds of ordinary people, and arguably it always has. Maybe that’s naïve on my part, and admittedly I don’t always live up to that standard, but working as a librarian has given me firsthand exposure to how much small things can matter. A good portion of our customer demographic are immigrants or people with very few resources, and although dealing with whack jobs is part of any customer/civil service job, there are times when you know that, at the end of the day, you did make a difference.

Thank you, I learned so much from this video! I have learned bits and pieces of this over the years but it makes so much more sense hearing it all together. I had the interesting opportunity in 2011, when I was still a college student, to work in Saudi Arabia at a summer cultural festival hosted by Saudi Aramco where I taught teenagers how to code their own websites. I was previously teaching in the US at a summer tech camp. It was the most fascinating experience. At the opening of the festival, we were given seats in the front row of a theatrical performance of the founding of Saudi Arabia and Saudi Aramco. It was in Arabic which I do not speak but since it was acted out I got the gist of the storyline. This video lined up well with what I got from the performance and filled in the gaps for me. My understanding at the time of why Saudi Aramco paid to fly us out there and teach summer tech classes to teens was that the country was trying to diversify industries so as to not rely too heavily on oil. I could write a whole essay about my experience but overall I felt very welcomed in the country and they literally treated us like celebrities the whole time which was quite an experience for an average middle-class American college student.
What you "learned" is complete nonsense based on a false premise. "The World" is not moving away from oil. Whatever oil the US and Europe don't use will be consumed by China and probably India too.
@@oih93 This is true. There is a term called “Arab hospitality” which like southern hospitality is prevalent in honor cultures. I think thats right - the goal of moving from oil is great, but the timelines are unrealistic - I just wish the Saudi govt was more focused on big projects that can be achieved instead of crazy things that will definitely fail like The Line etc. Some parts of the Neom project make sense - the port and desalination stations and rail connections etc. and are controversial but within our technology to produce - and should have more focus, along with the establishment of “enclaves” for tourists and foreign investment companies/offices, that can have different rules. They could be moving much faster if there was more focus, I think.
Look up Kermit Roosevelt and Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh. CIA coup in Iran. That's roughly the beginning of the CIAs wars in the middle east about 80 years ago. Just look up Afghani girls 1970. The reason that Hippie Girls wearing skirts aren't going to Kabul University anymore is because of the US. The Mujahideen was built by the CIA, the predecessor to the Taliban. This video is American Exceptionalist propaganda. It's very well done, makes you feel like you know alot haha, it's only that it left out EVERYTHING haha. You could count this as an American centric primer on the middle east, but you would still not understand why Iran, Russia, Syria, Lybia, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan or any other country hates the US. And they each have their own, unique and distinct reasons why. Geopolitical Economy Report is a podcast/show. It's the only one on UA-cam that will catch you up to speed on America's (The CIA and Military) role in each of these countries. They have VERY GOOD REASONS to hate the US haha. And I literally fought in the Iraq war in the US Army.

Hello ! May Allah protect and guide you to his light and happiness in this life and the hereafter, God bless, Ameen. Excuse me for giving a little presentation of Islam, because it is very misunderstood nowadays, especially on those « Antichrist's » times, where media and politics are mixed to distort history and truth. And terrorists (puppets of the Antichrist) who misinterpret verses, out of ignorance and political motivations, and take them out of historical context (just like radical atheists do by the way), don't help either. Thank you very much for your time. Islam is an arabic word that means the Surrender to the One and Only God, our Creator, Protector, Provider, who gives us life and all that we have, we are safe and sound by his will and grace, we are His and to Him we return, and we have to thank him in this trial life by submitting to him by our free will, or later in the Day of judgment when it's too late to save our own skin. Islam was the original Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people with the succession of the 124 000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon and Jesus (Peace and blessing be upon them) during the history of mankind, the last replaces and completes the previous, until the succession of the last messenger of God fourteen centuries ago, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) to complete the noble morals of all mankind, to bring humans and jinns out of darkness into light, and to purify people's religion and belief from corruption and polytheism, and return it to purity and true monotheism, like it was in the times of the prophets (Peace and blessing be upon them). Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI). Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy. Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful. Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI). Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Christ Jesus, son of Mary, was but God's Apostle - [the fulfilment of] His promise which He had conveyed unto Mary - and a soul created by Him. Believe, then, in God and His apostles, and do not say, "[God is] a trinity". Desist [from this assertion] for your own good. God is but One God; utterly remote is He, in His glory, from having a son: unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God. Never did the Christ feel too proud to be God's servant, nor do the angels who are near unto Him. And those who feel too proud to serve Him and glory in their arrogance [should know that on Judgment Day] He will gather them all unto Himself: (171-172 / Translated by Muhammad Asad). Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning! Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures. Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement. It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them. (19-22 / Translated by Muhammad Asad).. Salam (Peace)
I hardly ever leave comments on UA-cam videos but I had to for this one. This was incredibly educational and informative. One of the best videos I've ever watched here. Thank you so much for putting this together so succinctly. Truly fascinating!
Fascinating. It's so impressive that you could likely choose any country at random and comprehensively explain a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats assessment that is concise but also easily understandable. I've always enjoyed the jigsaw puzzle that makes up world politics.
He did not explain why Israel gets over 4.3 billions in American tax money "unconditionally " every year from American tax payers. This is not the normal symbiotic relationship between nations. In most arrangements, both parties give something and both parties take something. However, in the Israeli v USA relationship only Israel benefits. Does anyone know why this is the case ?
@@den264 Actually, he explains it very well when you consider the challenges faced by the house of Saud. They know the US favors Israel, and they also know embracing Israel is a feather in their cap, so to speak, when dealing with the US. This is about the survival of Saud, not the embrace of other ME countries. They're playing the only card they have left in this region, aside from allying with Russia, which has it's own downsides and doubts about their ability to project power. That also ignores Russia's relationship with Iran. Buddying up to Israel is smart, from their perspective. This is not a defense of Israel. It's realpolitik. This will enrage the Wahabi, of course. But Saud is making a calculation that they can control that threat better than they could fend off the Shia world. Not saying they're right, but that's how I understand their approach.
Very interesting, informative video. I can't offer anything more than other commentators haven't already said. But ... a bit of criticism - not enough pause between sentences / ideas to absorb them. Before an idea is absorbed, the next one hits right away. Good thing UA-cam supplies a pause button.
Well he squeezed an enormous amount of information into an hour. I must admit my brain hurt trying to absorb all the links and had to rewind a couple of times.
At first I was hesitant to watch this despite my interest because of its length, but wow! A great watch that flew by, and by the time you segued to the continuation being on Nebula I just needed to know how the story continues. Amazing work.
And hence lies the problem! People are just too self absorbed to focus on anything else that isn’t specifically aimed at them and their selfish lifestyle. Get your head out of the sand and look around you!

This video should win a prize. Extremely well done and informative. I believe this is the most I’ve learned on any subject in my many years of browsing YT. Bravo!
I wouldn't take these youtube videos at the face value. While many historical events are correct , these videos littered with author's personal believes and biases and contain silly us-centric apologisms. Not geopolitics, just a long tiktok from all Wikipedia sources
Great video, although it misses a couple of very important key facts:
1) As alluded to, the US is well capable of producing an excess of oil over and above what they need domestically, they just choose not to for various reasons.
What are those reasons?
Nuclear power is increasingly not cost effective and in fact is the only alternate energy source to not have decreased in price over the decades. Solar, wind, and hydro are going to be the deal, not nuclear.
@@Niemand1947 Well, that depends on how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go :)

Because the ones making those decisions are not going to be around for the consequences.

Remember american propoganda, Iraqi soldier killing babies in hospital (lies)

@@OSTemliwhat a selective, revisionist load of crap this is.
Saddam had an historical precedent to annex Kuwait. Kuwait is simply snipped off the Iraqi map by colonials.

One thing I’ve learned is that every country has poverty some just cover it up better than others
I now realised why Saudi Arabia and America did 9/11. Bin laden was giving the Saudis a warm time. This is why most the hijackers was from Saudi Arabia.
You're so lucky, I wish I could only work for 5 years and in the 80's! AMAZING!

The US actually has found great stories of lithium, Cooper, silver in Nevada. It maybe the largest deposit in the world at this time.
Batteries pollute with the lithium and cobalt. Why are the car makers not using Fuel Cells to power their Electric Vehicles???

This video is still about 1 country though, there should be more about the others in this channel though im not sure
Even this video got wrong about the current development and opinion of the locals.
He talks about the Wahhabi tribe, knowing that there is no such thing as Wahhabism, and if he meant the Sheikh’s family, then they are the descendants of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, and they reject the name Wahhabism.
And there is a difference between the Al Rashid family and the Rashidi or Rashidi tribe
The Al Rashid family are the ones who overthrew the second Saudi state, not the Rashida tribe
..
And the stupidest thing he said in the report is that the government offers bribes to all citizens. Well, what is bribery?
Free education, free health, luxuries, universities and more
Which rich country naturally cares about these matters and the interests of their people, but Saudi Arabia, when it settles like this, calls it bribery?
...
Also, Saudi Arabia is not affiliated with America or seeking protection from America. It is a country that protects itself by itself
And the report says that the arms deals from America are to suppress and kill innocent people
Well, he forgot America's crimes in the two Koreas, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq
In general, the report is full of lies and ridiculous fraud

It doesn't mean you're being lied to, but it does mean you can't choose what argument you find more convincing because only one side of the story is being told.
tldr;
youtube and all big tech censorship sucks. It means everything posted there about geopolitics, modern history and current events needs to be looked at with a very healthy dose of skepticism.

It's alarming how this video doesn't differentiate how this is more due to politics then simply "islam" or "extreme Islam" whatever that means. Islam is lawfully (by Qur'an) should only be ONE. No sects. Strictly no division. So this is and was not a religious conflict. Similar to Christian v Christian wars. That wasn't from their scripture either it's just politics trying to justify itself with by misusing religion.
One brief example is America's involvement in Iraq. He didn't express how that was unlawful. 1 million + Iraqis & US soldiers died bc President Bush lied expressing Iraq used WMDs. In other words America weren't the heroes there, rather the ones who escalated it, keep the conflict between them, let them settle it we obviously don't understand. There is no way to talk about the subject without the politics. The state was born out of war and, like the rest of the area, shaped by political expediencies. There's no way around it. Beware flashy animations and glib summaries. This video wasn't particularly accurate.

This finally made me understand, or pay any attention to, the Yemen situation. Remember seeing some headlines a few years ago but there was hardly any explanation as to why it's happening.
He is mainly right but PLEASE. Check through several valid sources because for some reason this video felt like propaganda. Labelling the US government as simply the heroes and helpers of the story when in reality it was and is deeper than that.
Oh yea don't forget the part where we took a "tiny bit" of Iraqs resources with us. It was definitely not a war for profit 🤫
Regardless of this channels propaganda, I always love the visuals and the variety of topics
There really isn't much to understand about the conflict in Yemen except that it makes no sense because the United States is playing both sides
Have you been there? I can point you to a German guy who went there literally as a tourist. You don’t go to a place like what is described in the video for tourism.
in the west nobody care, everybody watch ukraine but yemen is horrible.
@@Thawhid Yes, actually I am surprised that he actually got some facts right! But definitely saw propaganda in this video that is not factual, I am not saying it is his fault, but rather all of the most famous sources link back to a few powerful individual who want to paint a lot of negative light onto that which is more complex. This has been a legitimately fascinating look into the history of this region of the world. Thank you for putting this video together for us!
It’s great as long as you follow sharia law.
everyone is treated very well in saudi arabia not just americans
@@oih93 This is true. There is a term called “Arab hospitality” which like southern hospitality is prevalent in honor cultures. excellent analysis. Producing almost 1 hour long detailed documentary with visuals - that must have taken a lot of effort and money. Thank you
Yes thank you for allowing an uneducated person to understand
We will never move that far away from oil for atleast a few more or more decades. They have time to start diversifying their economy.
I'm always gobsmacked by the amount of research that goes into these
Look up Kermit Roosevelt and Dr.
