    This is one of the most evocative clips of the era I've seen - because it's so candid and relatable (just snacking on a bench) it seems more "real" and touchable. Thanks for sharing this.

    It’s just so bizarre seeing these kids mannerisms so spot on to how kids are today, even from my own childhood during the early 2000s…some things just will always be ageless!

    Very nice crisp images. I really like how everyone is dressed so neatly. Today people would go in flip flops and pajamas. That IS one thing missing today...people don't dress nice to go special places.

      @@Vlad-wl3fw, George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother did visit the 1939 New York World’s Fair at one point. Unfortunately, I don’t think Elizabeth and Margaret Rose came along.

    My grandfather is dying. He is 94 years old. I can't stop thinking he could be one of those kids.

      @Blythe Girl since my grandfather passed away, my grandmother died too and my aunt 20 days later (may 2021). It was a really tough year

    I WISH I CAN GO BACK TO THOSE TIMES. I WANT TO GO BACK FURTHER THAN THIS LIKE THE MIDDLE 20'S TO THE 30'S BECAUSE I WANT TO MEET THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN CREATION, LOUISE BROOKS, WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE BUILT A TIME MACHINE.

      Steven Cohn on all these 1939 WF videos I look for a brass bald eagle atop one of the flagpoles. I’ve found that eagle on a couple of these videos. That eagle, formerly on a swastica, was donated to the 1939 Fair by Hitler. It ended up at the top of the flagpole at my school. I used to look up at it and marvel at its history!

    Some of those vending stands look identical to the ones that are now at the US Open tennis complex that sit on the same grounds. I wonder if they’re the actual original ones…

    Not one of these people suspecting their day was being captured to be viewed over 80 years later on a website via a smartphone. Although most of these people are long gone, they never truly will be because of these images. At the end of the day, we'll all end up like them.

      And the size of those bottles are tiny in comparison to today’s. Also this was a fair so most likely an ocasional treat. Most of there diet consisted of milk water and juice mix.

      This is one part in there, where a white girl and black girl are sitting next to each other, laughing and joking eating apples, they appear to be clearly friends. I thought that was amazing.

      At least black people were able to visit, although it would probably have been segregated. In the famous Chicago world's fair of 1893 they were not even allowed in. Slow progress...
