@@roballison6097 I am a little surprised they don't sell more of them tbh. Such a versatile bike... I will be gutted when the time comes to trade her in... but new adventures await 😉
@roballison6097 unfortunately, yes... I really want to grow my youtube channel, and I have reached the limit of what I can do with the SMT I would say. I was going to do a tuning video and some track days, but tbh, that would all cost me so much money, and would only get me a few hundred views. I need a bike that has a bigger following. I have made a deal with my local bike shop for test rides and some other stuff, so with some luck, that will help me grow. I almost have 650 subs now, so getting closer to the first goal of 1000 subs... I hope you keep watching even when the ktm goes. 😉
LOVE my SMT 890. Most comfortable and practical bike I’ve owned but bloody amazing fun too. No issues whatsoever. Sips fuel. Sounds awesome. I tried all the Touring screens but to me they just increased the wind noise so stuck with original which is windy but quiet. Best bike ever? Not sure, ask me in another 12 months 😊
I have to admit, when it comes to the screen, the main benefit is weather protection with the bigger screen. I also went back to the original screen in the end.. I believe the SMT is one of the best all rounders ever made, but 98 percent of my riding is slower and more touring, so I am thinking to go for some thing else for 2025, and possibly get a second bike for the occasional fast rides.
Bought one about a year ago and got rid of it after a couple of weeks, did about 3000km on it in that time. Was looking for a sporty bike which could be used for short weekend touring. The biggest plus was that it was an absolute hoot in the corners and for ridiculous riding, but as for touring in my case it was a nightmare. I think it's due to the riders morphology. I'm a rather big guy and on the highway it was horrendous. The windblast was so hard that I always got of the bike with a big headache. Went from Belgium to The Ring a couple of times and once I was clear of the highway it was fantastic, allthough it really lacked a good 10 hp to be spot on and the qs isn't really that great, but I could've lived with that. It's just that from germany I always needed to take the highway for the last hour and a half and by the time I got home I was closer to crying than laughing. So, it can be the bike for you, if your not the biggest bloke imo. Traded mine for a 2hand s1000r and for the riding I do most it thicks all the boxes, sure it being a naked does give you a lot of wind too, but not around my helmet so the noise level is ok. If one can test it before buying, set it on the highway and you'll know instantly
@@PeSV1000 I would have ro agree with you on this bud... the SMT isn't for big guys IMO. Tall is ok, but if you are carrying weight, then I think a bigger bike is needed. I haven't found the bike lacking in power, because it is all about the torque on this bike, and it delivers where it needs to. I some of my other videos I do a pillion ride. The conclusion was that I wouldn't want to do long trips 2 up, and that was partly because of the space, but also the extra weight made the bike feel less natural. I think for the bigger guys the bigger bikes like the 1290 or the 1000 xr(that is a massive bike in the cockpit) or perhaps a big kawasaki are the best options. Thanks for watching, please Subscribe, it really helps me out. 💪
@@eduardosapples1997 you need to put a flow reducer after the trigger . As you reduce the flow you allow the water to over heat. Thus steam is made. Or at least, boiling water at the nozzle. The shorter the hose the easier it will become due to a lot of heat being lost from the hose and other parts.

Nice bike, I've tried one for a weekend. What kind of range do you get from a full tank.? As I wish it had the 20L from the Adv.Might be my next bike 990SMT.? I've got the 2023 1290SAS
@@mickhep ua-cam.com/video/lePfNQKE8bk/v-deo.html. Well, as you can see from this video, you can get great MPG from the smt. Obviously that all depends on how you ride it, the same as most things. But to answer your question, it doesn't need a bigger tank tbh. That would just make the bike unnecessarily heavier.
Hello Dean, from uk here, just after watching your video, i checked my ktm dealers prices... To my suprise, they have upped their prices. The 2023 smt was 10500,is now 12999 Same price as 2024. Don't understand what they are playing at?
Would the bike be better if it was a full-fat 890R (or 990R) engine? My V-Twin 990 SMT has more torque, more power and less weight, so when the bike was announced I wondered how much improvements KTM actually made.
I have heard that ktm plans to launch a 990 smt. I am sure it will be an amazing bike if it comes out. I will be honest though. This type of bike isn't really about peak power. It is more about the torque and ridability on roads. And for that, there isn't many bikes better tbh... certainly not many that are faster that are also as versatile, that's for sure. I have ridden the SMT down B roads that I know very very well, and can ride fast, and I know that I wouldn't be any faster on a 990... personally I think it has enough power and there is also that Apex suspension... it is really very good...
